      You don't need to "gamble better", you need to prepare your deck(aka your loadout) so that no matter what decree comes off the top it will benefit you in some way.

      That's what makes her bad for most commonly run content in the game, but a lot of it has to do with people trying to force her into copy paste meta builds that frankly don't work for her.
      She requires an entire paradigm shift in play style and people are too lazy and coddled by the current meta to invent their own way to play her that works for most of the game's content.

    I think giving two options for decrees and giving a hold cast to her 4 that pulls strung enemies to her as a combo for her 1 would massively improve her

      since her 4th are about marionette strings it should just control enemies to fight for her and when those controlled enemies attack enemies they inflict random statuses or when they are attacked they inflict random statuses, grouping kinda doesnt make sense to me for koumei but manipulating makes sense since shes about gambling n all, grouping makes sense gameplay wise i guess since it helps her 1 as you said

      funny thing that I recently got Koumei in circuit, and... her 2 actually works like that there, and even better. Instead of giving you a random decree, it gives you a decree as if you finished a stage or collected 3 decree fragments - 4 choices and rerollable

      ​@ShiroNature So I came back to WF around whisper in the walls after like a 6 month break and found out about tennokai about a month and a half ago because I still wasn't doing a lot of WF stuff. The moment I found out about it I spent a session to put 5 or 6 forma into corufell, mixed up my roar wisp build which replaced her 4, and have spent the last 3 weeks finally enjoying being able to use that thing to its full potential.

    Any frame can do frame things. Because this is warframe, and the game is easy.
    But her 1 and her 4 counteract each other, her 2's timer is absolutely absurd after your first few decrees, and who knows if you're even gonna get a decree that you want or that even improves your play style. And her 3 is just so inconsistent that it's just not even worth caring about
    And mods barely change her stats.
    Yes she can do good weapon platform things in endurance, but it takes a FAT minute to get there, and even longer if you're just not lucky, or playing in a group.
    Where every other frame minus a few like nidus comes out of that mysterious ceiling vent full stocked up and ready to go, kou has to take time to even get close to what other weapon platforms can do.
    And not enough people really go long enough in endurance missions, so many people are just going to primarily play an incompleted frame. So it's not at all a shock that people don't like her, but compared to yareli on launch, people really want to like her.
    If they decide to leave her as is, she's going to be an augment baby. I enjoy how she looks (minus her color mapping) so I'm willing to continue playing her during mundane tasks. For now

      Yup, we REALLY want to love her but it just felt like she was rushed for tokyo game show and instead of letting her be great pablo and the team put so many limiters on her like the insane stacking cooldown on the 2 and the cooldown on the 3 and 4 that just make her worse to use for no reason. And the 1 and 4 were bad design since they do the OPPOSITE of what the other wants.

      agree. Also, the challenges should be simplified and the requirements reduced. Kill enemies while wall-hatching? nah fck that, who even does that lol. Kill 44 enemies while doing it? nah no thank you, mission is already over lol. The challenges should be things we are already doing in most missions (kill enemies with primary, kill enemies with melee, etc.), and the ammounts drastically reduced, otherwise, there is no point outside very long missions... that i would rather do it with other frames, not Kumei. I feel Kumei is interesting from a design perspective, but the decree/challenges execution wasnt well planned. Rework incoming!

    Still doesn't change the fact they intentionally made her an early game frame.. despite her kit being made with the intent of her being an endurance frame.. as well as priming being almost useless for new players who dont have any form of CO/priming not being needed in general..

      New players can now breeze through early endurance content (remember when Dark Sector survivals were hard back in single digit MR?) and while they don't need priming, they'll be fighting enemies early enough to still die from any DoT status.

      New Players are more likely to take their time going through a mission than anything, so It's not that far off. You still find these slug-like people in stuff like netracells and deep archimedea n even archon hunts going at a turtles pace. It's just how people play and you fundamentally can't change them because that's just how they tick. For every schizo torid gauss enjoyer, there's a tree grazing gigaton brontosaurus of a human being who refuses to press bullet jump more than once every 10 seconds.

    Here are these Bad Decrees that you can get:
    Swooping Miasma: Gain +3 jumps. Jump Kicks cause 300 DmgViralSmall64 Viral Damage and status in an area around hit enemies.
    Kexat's Pounce: Jump higher. Gain +60%/120%/180% damage while airborne. Effect wears off 2s after landing
    Temporal Acceleration: Casting Abilities boosts movement speed by +50/100/150% for 5 seconds.
    Stable Stance: Gains 25% resistance to knockdown for each enemy within 20m.
    And since many of them are scaling, you can get the full 180s cool down without a single Decrees that helps you at all in the mission.
    And that's BEFORE counting specific decrees that don't synergise with your builds at the moment.

    I'll preface what I'm about to say I'm about to say with this.. I like Koumei, I've had quite a bit of fun playing her. That being said, the reward should match effort. Koumei requires you to take full advantage of the aresenal, movement, and mechanics of the game. To what reward? Lots of status and taking advantage of CO mods? It feels like a lot of work needs to done just to get where other frames get for free. The fun of her decrees is lost because 80% of missions in my day to day are finished in under 10 minutes and are constant press forward to the next objective.
    I have a lot of fun with her and really enjoy the idea of her breaking the mold on Warframe builds. I also can't say that a pass to tighten her up isn't needed.

      Exactly, fun is subjective. If I am forced to run epitaph to circumvent bad rolls then it defeats the purpose. A frame should feel extra powerful when rolling 6s instead feeling only powerful when you hit 6s. The reward of gambling isn't worth the effort of dragging my ass across the map like a dog with a worm

      Yeah, like i'm not totally against the idea so long as she has SOME fixed or gaurenteed values to balance out all the luck BS. I'm sure i said it in the community post before this but there are some many minor changes that could work. heck, you could literally mass undo and flip the script to be all fixed fated attacks and she'd still be the 'red ribbon of fate' puppet style warframe. DE really bungled this warframe up.

    I wish people would just say that they like her and that she's fun instead of having to defend it. Fun never equates to good or bad and in Warframe's case, it's usually the playstyle, aesthetic, or results the build gives that determine a person's feelings towards it. Alluding to skill issue is super disingenuous considering shes just a weapons platform and in some cases where decrees disable builds (Envious economy/Proficient fighter crippling shield gating and Smouldering Strike breaking influence unless its blast/electric)

      The only reason people feel the need to defend is because you have creators like Brozime entirely dismissing her and you get people echoing off that and going straight up on the offensive toward people that enjoy her and actually feel she's a good frame. I still pull fucking Nyx out occasionally because I like her deluxe skin. If someone told me she's bad I'd agree.
      Brozime dismissed her because she just isn't very good. Being defensive about it is pointless because we can all play her and see her kit and see that yeah, she just isn't very good. Just play her anyway who cares?

    >sigh< there is so much wrong, missing or intentionally obfuscated here. You make good content, but you suck at keeping your personal bias to a minimum. I obviously also agree in parts, but I'm currently having a peeve here.
    0:28 No. Koumei is a poorly designed warframe with low performance relative to others serving the same function. She is, as these things go, very fun to play for some people. Personally I have been playing her since she released, but keep having friction that ruins my gameflow.
    0:45 Not quite. Magnetic, Corrosive and Viral are enemy dependent. Radiation has no direct effect on the damage against an enemy.
    0:57 Not quite. Its actually better than that on a technical level, because it even works on weapons that normally have a low status chance. On a practical level however, it is much worse. That is because status priming requires high speed and a large area; that's why it's typically done with the Epitath, Nukor, Glaxion, Panzer, Hound, Diriga. If, as you later suggest, you use a launcher weapon, your rate of fire is likely too low to properly prime enemies.
    1:10 The issue with this line of reasoning is that there is no reason to do this. Most people generally only use a single weapon, often for the simple reason that switching weapons is bothersome. Your priming and damage is usually split between either your Primary/Secondary and Melee, or your Pet and your Primary/Secondary/Melee.
    1:18 Completely incorrect for the aforementioned reasons. With how many tools we have, there likely is not a single weapon + warframe combination that you cannot use as long as you are willing to do the necessary work with the rest of your loadout.
    1:19 Non-CO weapons get benefits ... such as?
    1:45 Information missing: it's not three sixes but rather *at least* three sixes. Normally the chance of rolling at least three sixes on five six-sided dice is about 3.55%, but Koumei is confirmed to have loaded dice that provide a higher chance, estimated to be about 10-12%.
    1:56 The bigger problem, from my experience, is that the ability can miss. The wires appear with a certain distance to one another, albeit with some give and take. Additionally of course, there is the issue that, while enemies can be affected by moving through the wires, her 4 is a hard CC that prevents this from occuring. This is an anti-synergy, and thus blatantly bad design. Strangely, the ability also does not have the usual ragdoll protection that many other abilities have, so it can proc thousands of times on ragdolled enemies; likely an oversight.
    2:08 There are issues with spamming the ability though. There is a limit to how many threats can be spawned in total, so not only will repeated casting delete older threats, having high range can even cause conflict between two casts. The other issue is that Koumei has no native energy generation, and the ability is still not cheap at 25 energy. The latter issues is compounded if you want to use Shield Gating.
    2:24 Ordinairily it will still only benefit of a single one. You can't rely on winning in a game of chance.
    2:46 Saryn is more than that. I think that distinction is important: while you can use her for crazy gun shenanigans, her ability kit still works if you use it as a self-contained unit.
    2:54 Arguably not. I don't think her playstyle is actually that different from Oberon; but more importantl is that Koumei doesn't have an entirely fixed playstyle. Because of how randomized she is ... well you get the idea: her playstyle is being random.
    3:14 I disagree. I think Wisp has a number of very fun and interesting ways to be played; mainly because each of her abilities has multiple use cases.
    3:26 Incorrect. Her critical bonus functions identical to mods. A non-crit weapon will still remain a non-crit weapon.

    3:44 Not meta like Kullervo? Have you seen what Haste Mote + Shock Motes + Breach Surge + Melee Influence can do? Just becaues it doesn't have "use melee" written on it? I've seen it on TH-cam, is that enough to make it count as "meta"?
    3:58 Incorrect. There is a difference between elemental damage and elemental status. Elemental damage mods are still the single best damage multiplier you can apply to your weapon outside of playing Mirage (unless you are using a slash status damage build).
    4:11 Read the text you put on the screen before insulting people. "repetitive task for 2 minutes", "tedious and fiddly", "tileset dependent", "lets me use the whole parkour system" (this one is actually a positive sentiment!), and "overly challenging *with low rewards*". This isn't people crying "wuuhh too difficult", the issues is the challenges are lopsided, annoying and boring.
    4:13 You arguably *have to* slot in for casting speed (note that Archon Shards aren't exactly new-player-friendly or low investment).
    4:17 Koumei isn't even really *a* weapons platform, much less *the* weapons platform. Mirage, Rhino, Gauss and Wisp are far more appropriate picks for that sentiment. Koumei is a build randomizer, as later basically alluded to in the section on degrees.
    4:24 Her ramp-up is largely independent of how you build or play her beyond actually managing to do the challenges. I personally haven't had any issues getting them done while running an empty loadout (whoopsydaisies).

It's better than Spectral Scream, sure, but how do you qualify it as "good"? We have about 210 abilities in the game, and I struggle to find more than half a dozen that are worse.

You have to kill enemies *generally* while they are *currently affected* by a specific damage type. And the ability far from guarantees that, rather there is a 10% chance that an enemy is going to have the status effect on them *if* your ability manages to hit them.

    6:46 It absolutely is not. For one, a good Revenant will have about 15 charges if not more, while Koumei can get at most 30 seconds. Additionally, Koumei's ability will run its duration and run out regardless of what happens or what you do - meanwhile Revenant will only lose a charge if he is hit.
    7:26 You are ommiting the second, possibly much larger issue! There is a 10,27% chance (about the same as tripple-sixes) of getting a penalty that lasts until you complete the challenge. You can be afflicted with a permanent Heat, Electricity, Toxin or Cold proc or have your energy drained.
    7:32 "quote un-quote" is incredibly disingenious and dismissive. 4 out of 45 are downright bad, and also don't forget that degrees have multiple ranks. Many of them are incredibly situational and might work poorly not just with your loadout, but also with one another. There's probably only a 1 in 3 chance that you will get a degree that you actually like, if not less.
    7:48 You entire arsenal? No. Your entire loadout. You are far from being able to use any weapon in your arsenal, because you have to adjust every single piece of your gear to be able to complete the challenges *and* benefit from the degrees. Using Koumei well is arguably more restrictive than any other warframe in this sense.
    8:20 Using these utility mods is indeed beneficial. However: there is nothing aside from the Scourge and a handful of Incarnon weapons that can make headshots easier (Helminth abilities not-withstanding), and it can be quite tricky on some enemy types. Additionally: you later state to remain mobile when talking about shield recharge - this is incongruent with wall-latch kills. You cannot be mobile and stationary at the same time.
    9:15 The ability also animates enemies in a puppet-like motion, notably making headshots against them more difficult.
    9:30 "short" as a timeframe is relative to the surrounding context. You might argue that it's "just" 3 seconds, but this is a crowd-control ability in a fast-paced action shooter. I lost count of the number of times this cooldown, which is completely unnecessary I should add, has gotten in my way. There is also the rather substantial casting duration; which not only further threatens its usefulness as a CC skill, but compounds the issue of it having a cooldown even more by restricting your ability to think/work ahead.
    10:36 "completely dismissing the fact that Baruuk is an entirely different character by design" - this is irrelevant. The core of both characters is the same. Even with only 2 out of 4 abilities overlapping, having higher requirements for less returns is simply bad. It's a rather straight forward comparison. This is a problem faced by virtually all character-based games, and ignoring or denying it is not healthy for the discussion.

      Not to mention that this is *not* what is happening with Koumei. The issue people are having with Koumei is that she isn't able to properly do the thing that *she* is supposed to do! It's the people that are defending her and claiming her to be a weapons-platform that are inviting the comparison to other warframes that *are actually* weapons-platforms.
      10:46 "... one is more rigid [...] while the other is more synergistic with a gamplay endgoal" - this distinction is irrelevant. Form is not what counts, function is. If you have two options of solving a problem, with one having a two step process and the other having a ten step process, then the end result is still the same. Obviously people are going to prefer the option that is faster and easier. This isn't a problem with the end-user, it's an issue in your design.
      10:57 No. Baruuk, aside from his 1, was a functional and coherent design that worked (albeit at a lower efficiency). Koumei is only partially functional, certainly not coherent, and laden with issues.

About 3 times higher than what it should be (for example tripple-sixes being 10% instead of the correct 3%), with 2/3 at the highest (D&D ends up with about that).
      12:10 This is exactly the problem. You want this to be the case only very rarely. The odds have to be manipulated in the background, otherwise it is only going to feel bad.
      12:16 Nidus arguably doesn't do much scaling. He will die quite quickly and become unable to kill enemies without relying on weapons that can do so with any frame. Still one of my favorites, but strangely bell-curved in endurance.
      13:10 Absolutely a good suggestion. Personally I think we need the ability to make a "deck" in the arsenal, similar to how Octavia alters her Somacord. Just removing a single degree and doubling the weighting of one other would go immensely far. Additionally, benefiting of the Duviri inherent "each degree grants 10% damage and 25 health" would be excellent to allow her abilities to scale in damage and also provide the health necessary for her 3 to do her job without blowing the skill out of proportions.
      13:26 To be precise, the kill count is determined by the roll of her dice. Giving more of a bias to the dice could solve both this issue and also make her other abilities slightly more reliable.

      I don't concern myself all that much with power in games like this. It's nice and fun and all, but I don't get upset about low numbers unless they are really at the point where they might as well be 0. What's most important to me is: does it feel good to use? Part of this is being effective, as in having the numbers. Another part of it is things working the way you expect, and not be counterintuitive. And the last part is things *actually working*, and that's the one where I take issues with a lot of what Koumei does (/tries to do).
      Having a different gameplay loop is great - but only if I can actually play that loop.

      I'm having a good read hear. But I'll add my own summary, she's a snowball frame, that takes a while to ramp up, while her entire kit (by design) is inconsistent. She requires you to play your own mini game, and in a squad, that will be difficult to do, without also factoring in your own load out, and even then, I've had people kill my targets while I was in mid cast of her 4, with a casting speed shard and natural talent.
      As a primer frame, she is lacking, her four has bad LoS checks, and her one, if you are lucky to land it, does one debuff per enemy. Compared to other frames that just straight into murder.
      She is dissynergy with a team and her own kit. People yelling skill issue, don't understand She is a clunky frame that needs some fine tuning and was clearly rushed. Why does she have cooldowns at all? Charms can't even be spam recast if you have over 5, which is like literal minimum roll.
      I appreciate you paragraph guy, someone had to think about this frame.

    My final opinion. Is she fun and good? Yes, yes she is
    Is her 3rd ability almost useless? Yes, It is too
    Would her 2 be more enjoyable for shorter missions with just a few tweaks? Yes It would.
    So koumei is fun and good, but she has so much potential to be much better really easily

      @@Nietox_2602 I have to disagree with the 3 being useless. Since she doesn’t really need any investment into her stats you can mod her for survivability which turns the 3 into a forgiveness ability for taking damage. In my survival level cap it was decently easy to stay alive while on the move but with the 3 active i was able to be stationary for some of the challenges without having to worry about being obliterated instantly

She doesnt need investment thats right, but i would very much rather It needing investment and doing something else. About her 2, being a frame suited for "newer players", but this ability only being really worth It after a long time in a mission, i think It could use some touch ups. Again, she is good, i like the pkaystyle and all, just think she lacks a bit of something in some abilities

    I dont know man, from a 1 and 4 which are completely anti synergetic, to a 3 that is completely useless and a 2 that is only good in Duviri due to a bug that actually lets you choose your decrees, her passive is really the only thing going for her at the moment. Right now, literally any frame can do the job better than she can

      Facts, I feel like this is not that great of a video compared to how he usually does it. First, most of his claims that she is good is false. She only gets good if and only if you get lucky and already have weapons to take care of everything if you get bad decrees, which is most time. The other thing that he couldn't do is compare her to other frames because he knows it's she's less consistent than almost any other frame.

Also yeah the 1 and 4 completely go against eachother and the 3 having a cooldown is moronic. The 3 should just be, 50/50 chance to negate and heal damage with no cooldown. They were going for a more balanced mesmer skin but made it weak instead. So much of her kit reads "DE and Pablo were too scared of her being really good so they added a bunch of limiters for no reason"

Everything about her is inconsistent and lacks any form of synergy. Her only defining factor is the useless decrees you get. She needs HUGE tweak or a rework on all her abilities. Even her passive sucks because its only that great on high fire rate/attack speed weapon. To make it worse is how you can't even choose which weapon gets the buff

    Omamori Charms make you invincible for the three seconds btw. I don't know if it's a bug but every damage you take in the three seconds after a get health Roll is converted to healing basically every three seconds you get a chance to heal from any attack for the next three sec

    We understand that Koumei CAN be good, but her abilities and gameplay loop just don’t make sense, and defending it just because she has the potential to be stupid strong doesn’t help her or the community’s perception of her.
    Her passive is genuinely good, no complaints there.
    Her 1 is just pitiful in comparison to her passive and even her 4. You can’t convince me there’s any worth to an ability that applies 1 status per immobile string when she’s getting 4 on one of her weapons for no cost. To address her rolling mechanic here, there’s only a ~3% chance to get triple 6’s on any given cast, that is so hilariously inconsistent it’s not worth considering since you can’t control what ability will get that buff or when. The triple 6 is a nice bonus, not something you build or play around. To top it off it’s anti synergistic with her 4 since enemies need to move through them when her 4 hard CC’s them.
    Her 2 is just not fun to play with in its current state with its ever increasing cooldown, the cooldown starting AFTER finishing the challenge, and having zero control over your decrees. I understand she’s the gambler frame so RNG is to be expected, but Duviri is an entire game mode based on RNG and the decrees feel much better there. You can have RNG and some control over said RNG, making her only have 1 that the game just gives you doesn’t feel worth the effort a lot of the time. Saying “that’s just how it is” is going to rub the vast majority of players the wrong way, especially when there’s already a much better implementation of the mechanic in the game.
    Even as you described it, her 3 just doesn’t make sense for her kit. For one, there’s a minor misconception with her 3, it’s not a worse Mesmer Skin, it’s a worse PRE-BUFF Mesmer Skin. Anyone that was around at Revenants launch remembers his 2 was virtually useless and no one cared about him as a result. On top of that, you point out that she can easily take advantage of shield gating, but I’d like to point out that almost every frame in the game can abuse shield gating and with minor changes to their build can abuse it to the same level Koumei can. And if you’re building into Shield Gate spam, what’s the point of her 3? Either you lean into shield gating in which case her 3 provides little value, or you’re handicapping yourself for no reason. You keep saying she’s made for long duration content, but her 3 is almost useless for said content, so what gives?
    Her 4 may provide a decent amount of status effects to enemies like her passive, but I think we need to address her being a so-called “primer frame”. Yes she as a frame can take the job that your primer weapon does, but I ask why you’d want to do that? For 1 there are multiple other frames that spread statuses just as well if not better than her, so if that’s what you’re going for there’s much better options. 2nd why would you want a frame to be a dedicated primer in the first place? Sure you can replace your primer with another weapon, but why would I want my frame to do something a weapon can do if I can choose a frame that does something a weapon can’t. It’s not like we’re hurting for weapon slots, most people just use 1 weapon for damage and relegate the other to primer because the slot is there, not because we desperately need primers for the majority of content (even super long endless).
    At the end of the day Koumei is… fine. You CAN play into her gimmick, and if you decide to do super long endless you can make her work where she designed to, but I ask… why pick Koumei? Yes her decrees are strong (with either enough luck or time), but that doesn’t make up for the rest of her kit being lack luster at best. Also there are a plethora of other frames that can do endless in a way that feels much better to play, even doing her role much better aside from decrees. I ask, who is gonna play her? The vast majority of players won’t since most don’t do long endless, and the players that do will likely pick a frame that is more consistent and dare I say fun or rewarding. You do long endless, are you gonna be maining her for that content? I doubt it. What I don’t doubt is that by time the yearly player use rates are published, she’s gonna be near the bottom the barrel. Forced into a niche played by few, and being unfavorable to others within that niche. She’s gonna be in the bottom 10 in play rate (maybe even bottom 5), but with a few individuals screaming how good she CAN be, she won’t receive any significant changes for a long time. She’s gonna be forgotten, and only useful to players as MR fodder. Is that really where we want her to be?

      the dice are weighted, you have (estimated) 3x the chance to roll a 6 than normal, you're looking at ~11.5% chance to roll a 3x6 instead of the commonly claimed 3.5%

      The shield build is done because it is necessary at higher levels. If you like to run your 30 - run further, but the tank build starts to sag at 200, some Eximus will one-shot you regardless of your HP and armor and there is no salvation except the shield. And yes, what is the use of your armor and your HP, when it is enough in 2 mystics, making such a tank FROM ANY WARFRAME? How can you turn something that ANYONE CAN DO into a plus?

Idk, maybe because she's just a fun gimmick frame that's not just dante 2.0, and I love dante but even I knew koumei is just a pretty good FUN frame. People like her and play her because she's just fun and not a boring broken frame like Revenant.       @@pancakes7483 It’s not a dumb question when the vast majority of players don’t care about gimmicks, especially when they actively hinder your potential. Limbo has a pretty interesting gimmick, and likewise can be incredibly powerful in the right hands, but one look at the player count for limbo will tell you those things don’t matter since he’s such a pain in the ass. She doesn’t need to be Dante, but it’s not too much to ask for a frame to have something to offer that’s more than just a gimmick. YOU may find her fun, but most people would heavily disagree, and even if they didn’t a gimmick does not a good frame make.
      Xaku being bad on release was a numbers issue that was easily fixed in a couple patches. Koumei on the other hand has anti synergistic issues with her kit and a blatant lack of purpose for a majority of her kit. Fixing her 2 should be pretty easy, but the rest of her kit just doesn’t make sense for what she’s supposedly made for and likely won’t be fixed in any simple way. I stand by that when we get player data for her, it will prove she is a swing and a miss, no amount of cope because you find her gimmick fun will fix that.

    You've proven Koumei can be made to work. You've proven that people who can't make her work, have a skill issue. You've proven that Koumei is different. That's nothing to do with whether she's "good".
    Warframe is a game where any weapon can be made to kill level cap enemies and any warframe can be made to complete the objective of any mission. So, what does it mean for something to be "good" in the context of a game like this?
    Good, and bad, are terms that compare RELATIVE PERFORMANCE.
    Koumei is a bad warframe, not because she can't be made to work (she can, just like anything in warframe), Koumei is a bad warframe because she performs poorly RELATIVE to her competition.
    Koumei is a frame that wants to play endless missions so that her strength can snowball, but who can abruptly lose the ability to survive in endless. You lose the ability to replenish your shield gate effectively after she earns decrees which increase her ability efficiency, or give you a chance for abilities to not spend energy. You can't even reject them or disable them. Her 3's survivability is inconsistent and can't let her scale and survive in endless either. Arcane Aegis is inconsistent too. You're also flipping a coin on enemies not hitting you twice within 0.2s if you're relying on shield recharge mods.
    A better option to make Koumei survive, is Vazarin's Protective Sling, which can make any warframe invincible indefinitely. Magus Cloud makes this slightly more convenient.
    And that's ENTIRELY besides the point. The point is, other frames don't need to do all that extra stuff just to achieve the same goal, making them MORE EFFECTIVE. Other warframes are made better by the fact that they don't suffer the opportunity cost of the things you need to equip on Koumei to force her to work. Koumei is down two mod slots and an arcane slot if you equip shield recharge mods and aegis. She's down Madurai's strength and casting speed buffs if you slot Vazarin to make her survive.
    Warframe has 10 years worth of power and feature creep. As such, it is possible to tie two wooden boards together and "make it work". But, by describing it that as "good" just because you've made it work, you're not only devaluing the word "good" in the context of describing actual meta options, but you're also preventing the feedback, necessary to balance the character to her competition, from getting to DE.

      Down mod slots and an arcane? Koumei doesn't suffer from being suffocated with opportunity costs like other Frames. You can mod QoL or w/e and her Decrees will carry the rest.
      WF players try not to slot Energize/Augmented on every Arcane slot challenge.

      Like you want to pretend it's because everyone just doesn't know what they're doing, but anyone who does already knows she's just pretty bad right now. It's okay to play bad frames. I still play Nyx a lot because I like her deluxe skin, and she's borderline unusable. You don't need permission from other people to play what you want, especially in warframe, and you don't need to deny reality like this over it either.

    I believe that it's more than a skill issue,the game has conformed players to a time to kill playstyle, especially with the introduction of eximus sidelining most crowd control aspects i still have her cooking in the foundry and hope that she is the main warframe i am looking for.

Latching on to a wall then having to swivel around while aiming and then having your view obstructed by your own frame or having your camera clipped into the wall makes it feel a little onboxious. Not to mention you are basically stationary the entire time. I’d rather have "get headshots while airborne" as a challenge instead of wall latch kills

    Her 1 has too low duration for what it does, since you need enemies to walk through it to be affected. And her 4 costs too much energy for what it does 90% of the time. And her 3 is useless as long as it us stuck at an unmoddable 50% chance of working every 3 seconds. So you have to rely on shield gating. Fortunately for her, you have to spam her 1 and 4 for them to do anything useful, so she can gate just fine.
    Then there's her 2. An ability that's just as likely to drain all of your energy or kill you with a toxin proc as it is to give you a decree that does something useful. Most of the decrees she can roll are very narrow in use, with only a few of the generically good decrees in the pool. And thanks to the cooldown timer, you aren't likely to get any good decrees in any sort of reasonable mission length except endurance.
    The best use I've found for her so far us to subsume on Eclipse and then use its modes to stay alive and buff a gun, with her 3 sometimes making survival easier and her 4 sometimes priming enemies enough to be useful. Even then, it's mostly Eclipse, not Koumei's kit, that's doing the heavy lifting.
    All of her abilities have issues that could be fixed. Let her 3 proc chance be modded, or its cooldown, or any aspect of it other than the healing multiplier that doesn't really do much. Give her 1 more duration, or let something increase the density of the threads, or anything that could improve its ability to actually hit enemies. Give the 4 more damage based on enemy status count, like Lavos. Remove the negative effects from her 2, and reduce the cooldown, or let the cooldown tick down while the challenge is active. If necessary, make the cooldown higher when skipping the challenge. And at least let her choose to not take the decree if the player doesn't want it. There's a lot if touch ups that would make her so much better.

    One: have it start when you cast the ability
    Two: make it so you can sacrifice your last decree earned for a shorter cool down or if there is no cool, for a reroll the decree you earned by completing the most recent task

    This video feels as though you looked at the issues the community has been whining about when it came to Koumei and cherry picked what you actually wanted to argue about, respectfully.
    I agree with about most of your points but when I hear stuff like

    …But with triple 6’s it’s a Mesmer Skin times 3.”
    It makes me really question wtf you’re talking about. It’s not as if that moment the ability shines, it makes up for the lack of consistency, it just means you got lucky and it most likely won’t happen again… Which again leads back into the inconsistency of the ability, which is the issue people have with her.
    I’m glad you made this video, there have been a lot of people saying she’s just the worst and a lot of your points are great, but I wish it felt a little less misleading with some directions you take when discussing an ability.

      I don't get what's bad about it. It's basically just damage immunity every 4.5 seconds. It's not going to keep you alive by itself but it's a good addition to the rest of your survivability tools.

      The three second internal cooldown makes it fucking terrible unless you roll super hot because enemies do tend to shoot you more than once every 3 seconds, and when you roll super hot it isn't mesmer skin times 3, it's just.. mesmer skin.
      That's koumei's real issue: she's a gamble frame but the most you can win if you hit the jackpot is being on par with good frames. Why would I bother gambling if the best I can win is average?

    I do absolutely love Koumei but my issues with her since launch have been her feel.
    Gambling as a concept is perfectly fine and is enjoyable. However, when the base kit is less effective and only feels powerful after winning the gamble, that's where my issue lies.
    Koumei does have some strengths without getting lucky, but they're such specific strengths that you have to build your entire arsenal around those strengths just for her to have average performance.
    I want her to be a frame that requires this much investment, but it should feel like the investment pays off instead of giving so much just for her to be average.
    And remember this is without getting lucky I'm talking about.

    I love playing Koumei, but I'm just so bad at progressing my equipment - getting mods and stuff - that a lot of her challenges just end up being nigh-impossible against enemies tough enough to be worth going for decrees on.
    I have enough status mods to build extremely effective CO melees, but I don't have the means to make primaries decent for my level and I can only barely make decent secondaries. Combine that with my personal lack of interest in using whips or glaives due to how they feel, and it leaves me really struggling to complete every ranged-oriented challenge I get.
    Doesn't stop me basically maining her at the moment, she's the only frame to ever catch up with Octavia for just being exactly my vibe, regardless of whether I'm effective with them.

      I've been using koumei often and she's really fun, just not as good as many other frames in the game, in game design and in capability. Unsynergetic abilties, excessive decree cooldown, and a survivability tool that everyone glazes for its possible invulnerability but realistically you'd be getting heal chance on a frame with moderately lower EHP stats, makes sense why this frame would be as niche as it is. Nevertheless it's nice to have a crowd control frame instead of the previous dozen nuke frames, even in a game where crowd control is starting to become the worse option compared to sneezing on a tileset and wiping it from existence.
      Because at the end of the day, we can all still agree on one thing: this is better than wukong

    I feel the only things koumei needs are the decree changes that you suggested & the cooldown of her 3rd between blocks to be removed & the cooldown between casts of her 4th to be removed as well.     I had my disagreements with this video but was really willing to hear you out...up until this. You essentially said "even if you win, you lose. That's just her kit design." No dude. That is bad design. None of the decrees should be useless. The lose condition already causes a two minute cool down. The win condition should grant Koumei a buff that is useful. I shouldn't lose even if I complete the decree challenge.
    Another thing with the Baruuk effect: Baruuk vs Excalibur. Excal is stronger from the gate. Baruuk is stronger in the long run. If we consider Koumei as a status spreader, she is competing with Varuna and Citrine. Both outclass Koumei 5 minutes into survival. Both outclass her 3 hours into survival.
    Weapon damage? Saryn, Kulervo and many others still outclass Koumei no matter how long the mission goes.
    RNG removes some player control and player agency. No one likes being subject to outcomes outside of their control. If RNG is to be Koumei's theme, essentially meaning she removes player control of outcome, she needs to in turn reward exponentially for that gamble. Otherwise, why pick Koumei when Saryn's weapon DPS is insane and guaranteed and better than max Koumei? Why pick Koumei when Varuna can spread status guaranteed, cloak to avoid damage, generate health/energy orbs, and make every weapon CO viable.
    If people find Koumei fun, great. She "works" because yhis is Warframe and everything works because we uave so much power. The hate she gets is not to skill issues. There are legit design flaws in her kit and the fact she can get a decree she can't even utilize is an obvious indication of the many flaws in her kit. I acknowledge that you address some of this at the end of the video. Still, she isn't just good. She is good, but flawed. Maybe a fun alternative to other modern Warframes like Revnant or Varuna but with and RNG mechanic, she should be better when she wins.
    Another terrible design flaw. Her 3 is a survivability tool and yet requires you to build shieldgating, a survivability tool. Frost has Icy Avalanche that CCs and give him overguard. Koumei needs three shield gating mods to be invulnerable while frost needs one augment...and it does MORE for his survival then Koumei's setup. He gets overguard and shield gate. Rhino's Iron Skin doesn't even need a mod to make him immortal.

    Personally I'm not into her second ability. She's a cool looking Warframe with some neat ideas, I just prefer something more concrete in regards to abilities. Having to kill 42 enemies in a 120-160 enemy exterminate for a buff that may or may not help didn't jive with me. If you're fine with that, more power to you. _The scaling cool down rubbed me the wrong way, but whatever._
    I am trying out Sickening Pulse on Koumei as I think this is an interesting idea. I definitely want to experiment with Helminth abilities on her (no, I am not going to put on Gloom or Nourish. I already know how that would play out and her kit invalidates Gloom).
    Cool frame, neat idea behind her kit, not a fan of the second ability. I will say that DE better not introduce augments to eliminate the RNG. That would be dumb and invalidate Koumei's point.

      I did not say I hate her second ability nor am I disparaging anyone for liking it. I'm just not into it at the moment. Personally I think the ability is interesting, it's just not my cup of tea, again, at the moment.
      Also I find proc'ing a bunch of status effects with her abilities and casting sickening pulse to watch enemies go poof to be hilarious and really fun.
      And if that bothers you that much, I always leave one build slot with the original kit when adding helminth abilities. I feel at least one build should leave the Warframe's kit intact. If I want to have a build with her actual second ability in use, I will absolutely do that. I just wanted to try out sickening pulse on her and play into her status spreading capabilities.

      And you know what? I like her second in endless missions. The cool down is a little ridiculous and it feels like I'm more focusing on the challenges than the mission, but it's not bad. I'm not a fan of how the challenge difficulty is apparently tied to your rolls, but ultimately I have to accept that given it's Koumei. Exterminate missions? I'm using sickening pulse. Endless? Sure, I'll use her actual second.

      @@Goldy01 Since you insisted on responding to me in the way you did, I'm going to clarify my issue with Omikuji since I've had time to think about: I don't have a problem with the RNG. I think that's fine. I can put up with getting headshots, wall latch kills, and sliding kills. I have tons of weapons that can do all of that stuff and then some (even though define what qualifies as a head for the murmur and the infested. Seriously).
      It's that asinine two and a half minute cool down I can't stand. It stings when I go through all that trouble just to get a decree I don't want and have to wait another two and a half minutes to get another decree I don't want. The solution? I don't know, I'm not DE nor am I a game dev. Personally I think an augment that makes the cool down static but gives you a negative effect each challenge in return (or an augment along those lines) would be neat, but that's just me.
      Although you will never convince me that "Kill an enemy at 20m" isn't dumb. That isn't within or beyond, that's exactly 20m. I don't mind using snipers. I think the Komorex is really cool, but I shouldn't be forced to bring it along for every mission just in case this challenge pops up. I have other non sniper weapons I really like that I would like to use (Phage needs an augment, don't @ me). Funny I take issue with this challenge with Cyte-09 on the horizon, lol.

    The video was well made and the points in it were solid, but I feel Koumei has more problems than you're stating simply because it feels like you're trying to balance out the "Koumei is bad" that people keep spouting.
    Koumei isn't good in comparison to most other frames, I wouldn't say bottom 5 but she needs help. Especially with how early you can get her in the star chart, her build time is in comparison to every other frame and the fact that they say she's a new player frame. She feels very weak comparatively to other frames you can get at the same time, especially in terms of consistency because she's intended to be an RNG frame.
    I'd like to propose some changes to make her more efficient as a frame:
    Her 1: Let each thread give more than one proc per enemy. As it stands an enemy standing in or passing through a single thread more than one time does not get effected by it again. That by itself could make her 1 better. When we have weapons that do what her 1 does but better to a larger AoE it just makes her 1 feel bad or weak.
    Her 2: Flat cooldown, start it upon it being used and it needs to be something between 1 minute and 1 minute 30 seconds. The decrees are not nearly impactful enough to make them worth while for a lot of the work people have to go through for them. (I do agree that the wall-latch thing people say is silly. It's one of her easiest conditions to fulfill unless you're in some areas of the open worlds.) Allow a duviri-style buff-per-decree obtained mechanic. Not to the level of duviri where it's 10% damage and 25 HP but something. One of the reasons decrees are good in duviri is specifically because no matter what you get it's still making you stronger even if it doesn't fit with your current build/playstyle.
    Her 3: Keep the 50% but either remove or allow the cooldown to be moddable. That's my issue with it, the cooldown of 3 seconds is it's biggest hinderance. Buffing it's chance isn't valuable enough since it's still a chance (unless it could get to 100% but then it'd be a weird, weaker mesmerskin).
    Her 4: Honestly, it's fine. I think it's the strongest part of her kit.
    Her in general: Buff all her abilities slightly, getting 3+ 6s is supposed to be a big bonus but aside from her 3 making her immoral, it feels like 3 6's is only a marginal improvement(yes, even the 'applies one of every status effect' and '360 degree radial effects'). If the base of all her abilities was "good" then they could really lean into the "Fate" aspect of it making lower rolls far weaker and higher rolls far stronger. If you like her for her gambling, lean into it and accept that terrible outcomes sometimes happen.
    In terms of other issues I have with her:
    Her passive isn't that great, yea it lets you drop mods for it but you can't guarantee that it's going to buff the weapon you dropped those mods for or that it gave you the right elements that you would have had on said weapon.
    Her 1's 'priming' effect isn't consistent enough to rely on it and even if you roll three 6s you odds are are going to have, or could have, everything in front of you dead from something else such as a weapon or different frame's abilities.
    Looking at her in a vacuum is nice, but when we look at her next to other frames (or in some cases, single weapons) she falls short even with max rolls. She isn't a bad frame by far, and can still clear pretty much everything in the game but she requires far more work to do that than other frames or single weapons. That's how a lot of people are looking at her, even if only subconsciously. "Why bring Koumei and gamble on priming these 30 enemies when something like the epitaph can do it guaranteed?" or something else I've seen floating around "why even prime an enemy for condition overload?" since unless you go multiple hours into a mission(or a good number of steel path circuit rounds) hitting enemies in the 2000+ range even normal weapons/frames are overkill.
    Her being an "endurance frame" when her only "endurance" skill is her 2 that most people agree to be her worst skill for how weak it and the decrees it brings are by comparison to the rest of her kit (that, once again, people say is weak compared to most other frames) is laughable to me. Yes, she can build up some cool extra effects over the course of a few hours but the effort to do so doesn't feel worth it.
    Her being intended as a new player frame is a joke given how different she is to every other frame in the game and how random she is. It's not a good look for a new player to get this kind of frame early as it could color their perception of abilities and frames in the rest of the game.
    I feel she needs another pass through development and balance. I'd love her to keep her RNG stuff but everything about her needs a slight buff if we're looking at her along side other frames, she should keep her uniqueness but needs some more oomf to her to be worth playing for most players even those who enjoy playing her. Humanity has this nasty little thing inside them that tells us "yea, this is cool/fun/great but... I could be being so much more efficient with x" and that needs to be mitigated with a frame like Koumei.
    I do want to make it clear, I enjoy your videos because you think about and present things in a way most of the other content creators don't and, aside from it being a breath of fresh air, it's extremely insightful. But I feel that sometimes those insights either are misguided or don't really apply to the game as a whole. Regardless, keep it up and I'll continue to enjoy watching your stuff.

      Agreed, I'd also give her a bit of a rework too tbh. Since you shared yours heres mine, warning its a long one too.
      Her 1: Make it a sphere beginning from where koumei is standing, expanding outwardly.
      Now she can have 360 coverage around herself and objectives and will tie into what i do to her 4 later. A sphere around her imo fits more tile sets and open worlds better.
      Her 2: Make it just like Duviri. Give her the 4 decrees to CHOOSE from and allow Drifter Intrinsics to work on her outside of Duviri. In addition I'd make it so if a challenge is completed she does not suffer a cool down, only when one is rejected.
      This would give her the bonuses we get in duviri such as increased damage and health per decree and the 3 rerolls from the luck tree. This would ensure even if all 4 of her shown decrees are bad for her at that moment and she does not want to use a reroll or has used them all up already she will still get value from it. This is the other half of what makes us strong in Duviri. It's the decree themselves AND the intrinsics. As for the other half of the buff many missions are done rather quickly so you can't become "op" even if you tried especially if playing with high DPS and or nuke frames that can make the missions go even faster. Some missions can take even less time than her cooldown at max rank!. In longer missions where you plan on going for an hour or more the cooldown is not very relavent either as you will get many decrees anyway just by staying in the mission for so long. The only change here is how quickly Koumei could achieve her Goddess status and even THAT is still at the hands of RNG.
      Her 3: This one is a lot easier. Just remove the cooldown when a charm is used to negate damage.
      Her 3 already operates on a CHANCE to negate one incoming instance of damage which is already inconsistent at best so WHY add a cool down ontop of that? The ability would still be inconsistent without the cool down but it would at least always be rolling that chance to protect her from damage.
      Her 4: Make it so that when used koumei will pull all enemies in her field of view that are within range towards her, once they are grouped up in front of her they would be suspended mid are as they currently are now. This would look similar to how enemies are group up with say, Yareli's 4.
      This not only has the added benefit of grouping enemies for easier damage as opposed to leaving them spread out (a problem which gets worse the more range you give koumei and the more open an area is when she casts this, perfect example is her mission at the shrine in cetus) but this new version of her 4 now has synergy with her 1. Example: You cast the new 1 to create a sphere around koumei then cast her new 4 to pull enemies towards you, they would fly through the threads created by her 1 then stop infront of you, suspended mid air. Her 1 and 4 as they are currently do not have such synergy, you want enemies to walk into her 1 threads but her 4 locks them down and thus prevents them from walking through the threads created by her 1. This is why nautilus is such a good companion for koumei as its cordon ability will pull enemies towards koumei forcing them to pass throug hthe threads of her 1. With my changes her 1 and 4 will have this synergy baked in already.
      Also, if koumei rolls a triple 6 on her 4 I would still keep the effect of it hitting enemies behind her. This is also why I changed the shape of the 1 to a sphere as now even if enemies are pulled from behind koumei when she rolls triple 6s on her new 4 they would still pass through her new 1.
      Koumei's passive: The passive could function similarly to how her melee weapon works, every 30 seconds you roll one dice (time could be made longer or shorter) and you'll get a buff based on its roll. A 1 would give all of her weapons one element lets say toxic. A 2 would be 2 and so on. A 6 similar to her melee weapon would be your jackpot but in this case all of her weapons would now give one proc of all elements including the IPS damage too. It's a fun idea I had in mind so that all of her weapons will benefit in some way rather than making you swap to whatever it decides it wants to be on at the moment. I found many times I just wanted to have some melee fun so two thirds of the time i basically had no passive which felt rather bad. This issue gets worse when you get decrees that encourage you to stick to one of the three like say, any melee decree which would discourage you from using primary and secondary weapons thus making her passive worthless most of the time.
      I can only roll the dice here and hope someone from DE or perhaps Pablo himself might stumble across this and maybe consider some of these changes. I do not expect all of them (or even one of them) to be implemented but I felt strongly enough about Koumei to do something I normally do not do and write my thoughts down in regards to her. If I could only choose from one of these to have DE/Pablo implement it would be the changes I listed above to her 2. I feel like this would be a lot simpler to do vs the reworks I gave the other abilities as my suggestions for her 2 are largely just to make it behave like the system does in Duviri itself. The other half of the buffs to the cool down of the ability itself I would still very much like to see it come to the game but if all DE/Pablo did was make it behave like it does in Duviri with 4 decrees to choose from and all drifter intrinsics applied in and out of duviri then I'd be happy enough.
      BONUS: As Koumei is now stats largely dont affect her very much and one change i would make to this would be to allow power strength to tilt the odds in her favor more. The more power strength you give Koumei the better her odds will be when rolling her dice. This also leans into her whole "change fate" theme. As it stands she doesn't do much fate changing when you roll the dice, it just is what it is. This is what I'd change to remedy that.

      Would like to add that the base frames you get for starting the game (Excal, Volt, etc..) are all viable, well designed frames that work perfectly at almost every point in the game, especially Volt. Koumei just doesn't. New players aren't going to run endless missions.. so why is her entire kit designed around that? No new player is doing 1, 2, or even 3 hour survivals. Why is that shit in her kit? She's just horrible and it blows my mind that anyone would defend the frame or DE for releasing it.

    Koumei is neat, but long ago with the conception of augment mods, i adopted the mantra that most frames & new ones going forward are a little bad until they get that ONE augment mod.

    I feel like this video was made solely to make Koumei seem better than she actually is rather than looking at her objectively, cons and all. Like sure she isn't as bad as everyone thinks, like she isn't the worst frame in the game, but she still very flawed design wise.

    16:15 nice hide for getting obliterated in a 21 minute survival to a mere level 180 acolyte which is usually 1 shot. Also level cap is usually used to test warframes to their limits, but it isn't really fair in Koumei's case as she can stack every decree at level cap so it's almost like she was designed for level cap endurance runs. It's like saying, look the one thing she can do, she does amazing, then ignoring the 95% of things she can't do. Try running her in a steel path extermination mission with a competent team, I guarantee you barely use her abilities as everything is dead before you even complete a decree.

      Idk what point you are trying to make with the extermination example, but most of the time in steel path extermination there is 1 player that will do less regardless of frame and with a competent team even less. Koumei can do everything fine just like most frames, she just excels at endless missions each is fine, she wasn't any Yareli or Caliban at launch, and not janky at release like Xaku or Grendel.
      Plus I would like to know what those 95% are, because if that was the case, she would get updated pretty fast, just like Yareli did, a frame so weak at launch that barely could survive steel path.

    The Omikuji assist kill thing actually has been reverted for now because it was causing technical issues. They're hoping to get it in properly in the next patch because apparently it's not something they can sort out with a hotfix.

    I know it is too early for augments but maybe in the future I wish there would be an agument for Bunraku where kills/assists would decrease the CD of Omikuji like that dagath augment... but I do like the idea of Omikuji starting the CD as soon as its casted aswell!

    I love to play koumei because I think she does a good job at making the mission look like her zone. I think having the choice of two decrees would help her, her charms would feel better if the cool down was 2 seconds instead of 3. I can think of hundreds of augment mods that would make her even more fun to play too, like making her 1st a line-like grouping tool like Qorvex’s or make her 1 strip enemies of armor when they are affected by her 4 or make her charms collect the damage they prevented and hold cast to send out a dice that explodes dealing the damage that was collected by the charms

    So what this video basically says is that you should build for "utility" and rely on weapons (in this case orthos prime, nami solo incarnon ect.) to do 90% of the work for you in terms of dmg while also being at the mercy of deecres (most of them dont even really do anything for her anyway, except if you consider rolling to reaload to be useful ), because her abilities, and more specifically her 4, cant get the job done (he doesnt say that her 4 cant get the job done but whether you like it or not its the truth of the matter). I understand you are trying to make the case that there is more than what is meta but if what is not meta requieres jumping through a million hoops to get it somewhat going is it really an option?

      Just messing around with her a bit and her one was hitting around 350k often, more than enough to clear fodder and weaken stronger enemies. He's not saying "your weapons do everything" he's saying use Koumei to push your weapons way further. She's a weapons platform with good CC and some damage on her abilites, not a caster that nukes with just 1, 2, 3, 4. (But again her 1 and 4 can get some silly numbers if you want, with some luck ofc ;D)

      @711_skiddlz First of all, you might be the only person in the world to say that her one can do 350k dmg. What build where you even using cuz I find that hard to believe. Also how exactly do you plan to push your weapons further with her? With the decrees that most of time don't do anything and force you to go on a side quest to get them? Honestly calling every warframe that can't get the job done themselves a weapons platform when they don't even buff the weapons they use is bad comedy. Gauss is a weapons platform. Koumei is not. Also making an argument about cc when it has been nerfed to hell and back with all the stuff they have added to the game (overguard, nulifiers ect) and even if you ignore all that it does a poor job with basic enemies as well. If you are having fun with her good for you but stop pretending like she is some powerhouse that we choose to ignore cuz we don't like the decree challenges.

    Passive - Probably the best part of her kit. But anyone needing that damage will usually run a primer weapon/pet alongside their main weapon already, rather then micromanaging a tiny icon randomly jumping between their weapons.
    Threads - Yeah the non empowered version is a joke. The threads don’t even try and target enemies so it can whiff altogether. 89% chance to only inflict one status, and enemies actively avoid walking into threads so you need to helminth on pulls to try and get more. Threads also don’t reproc enemies in them already so they don’t even function as solid CC. You can spam the ~10 casts or whatever but then you have a Warframe with an effective passive of -90% efficiency.
    The obvious problem is not that its RNG. Its that its binary and the bad result is ridiculously weak in comparison with basically any other frame/ability. 5 dice have 25 possible results. So why are there only two and ~90% of them are just copy pasting the worst version. Koumei isn’t playing slots, or poker, or even Yahtzee. She’s betting on the 00 on the roulette wheel every time. (And even her “jackpot” is a sidegrade at best of Citrine/Voruna/Lavos/Inaros.)
    Shield gating is available to absolutely every frame minus 3 and has no bearing on Koumei.
    The 3 has an obvious falloff where you’ll need a lot of DR to support it at best. But the cooldown also exacerbates its ineffectiveness by making it closer to 80 or 90% fail rate (fluctuating depending how many incoming shots are happening).
    Your first argument for the 2 makes no sense. You can’t choose your weapons or adapt your build mid mission “use an explosive launcher for aim glide kills”. You can’t slot in the parkour mods on the fly, etc. I wouldn’t even say the challenges are the overall issue (aside from wall latching in an open world and such) as players should (other then Atlas) be parkouring while killing anyways simply for the reduction to enemy accuracy. But trying to build a loadout around multiple situations that may or may not occur doesn’t really work.
    The 4 is generally functional. Though it does run into issues with the non empowered version selecting a single status multiple times giving wild variance in effectiveness and messing up the idea of using it as an effective primer (On a 20 roll it can apply 4 stacks of 5 elements, 2 stacks of 10, or it will sometimes try and apply 20 stacks of gas for instance. In the latter case gas is capped at 10 so you actually lose half of your ability to wacky RNG).
    There’s a reason you see many gambling characters in games using slot machines though, and its to give the semblance of randomness while actually allowing significant control. Or why random elements like critical hits are usually adjustable in some way. Its because wacky RNG fails don’t make for good gameplay feel. DE even already (barely) baked this into Koumei with her dice being weighted to have 11.8% to roll triple six instead of the real 3.6%. But 88.2% is still a huge gap to have the junk roll.
    The easy bandaid would be each 100% strength adds +1 to rolls. Allowing those 600% super strength munchkins to force sixes (and 300% to get a more reliable 50% coin flip).
    The more laborious but truer to the theme work would be to just fill in those other 20 odd gaps in the roll table with something that isn’t obviously bad in comparison to any equal cost ability.
    Baruuk vs Excalibur is a different sort of comparison. Baruuk starts as a Tank/CC and gains DPS. Excal starts as DPS and gains… well, nothing. Nidus also starts off with gathering and very rapidly gains DR. Koumei starts with… questionable at best priming and CC powers, a defensive buff with over 80% downtime, and eHP that isn’t even top 15 (possibly even lower, I’m still updating my spreadsheet)
    Edit - Just to appease the math folks. Yes there are more then 25 dice combinations but for simplicity I only counted the possible totals)

      I had my own re work in mind
      Her 1: Make it a sphere beginning from where koumei is standing, expanding outwardly.
      Now she can have 360 coverage around herself and objectives and will tie into what i do to her 4 later. A sphere around her imo fits more tile sets and open worlds better.
      Her 2: Make it just like Duviri. Give her the 4 decrees to CHOOSE from and allow Drifter Intrinsics to work on her outside of Duviri. In addition I'd make it so if a challenge is completed she does not suffer a cool down, only when one is rejected.
      This would give her the bonuses we get in duviri such as increased damage and health per decree and the 3 rerolls from the luck tree. This would ensure even if all 4 of her shown decrees are bad for her at that moment and she does not want to use a reroll or has used them all up already she will still get value from it. This is the other half of what makes us strong in Duviri. It's the decree themselves AND the intrinsics. As for the other half of the buff many missions are done rather quickly so you can't become "op" even if you tried especially if playing with high DPS and or nuke frames that can make the missions go even faster. Some missions can take even less time than her cooldown at max rank!. In longer missions where you plan on going for an hour or more the cooldown is not very relavent either as you will get many decrees anyway just by staying in the mission for so long. The only change here is how quickly Koumei could achieve her Goddess status and even THAT is still at the hands of RNG.
      Her 3: This one is a lot easier. Just remove the cooldown when a charm is used to negate damage.
      Her 3 already operates on a CHANCE to negate one incoming instance of damage which is already inconsistent at best so WHY add a cool down ontop of that? The ability would still be inconsistent without the cool down but it would at least always be rolling that chance to protect her from damage.
      Her 4: Make it so that when used koumei will pull all enemies in her field of view that are within range towards her, once they are grouped up in front of her they would be suspended mid are as they currently are now. This would look similar to how enemies are group up with say, Yareli's 4.
      This not only has the added benefit of grouping enemies for easier damage as opposed to leaving them spread out (a problem which gets worse the more range you give koumei and the more open an area is when she casts this, perfect example is her mission at the shrine in cetus) but this new version of her 4 now has synergy with her 1. Example: You cast the new 1 to create a sphere around koumei then cast her new 4 to pull enemies towards you, they would fly through the threads created by her 1 then stop infront of you, suspended mid air. Her 1 and 4 as they are currently do not have such synergy, you want enemies to walk into her 1 threads but her 4 locks them down and thus prevents them from walking through the threads created by her 1. This is why nautilus is such a good companion for koumei as its cordon ability will pull enemies towards koumei forcing them to pass throug hthe threads of her 1. With my changes her 1 and 4 will have this synergy baked in already.
      Also, if koumei rolls a triple 6 on her 4 I would still keep the effect of it hitting enemies behind her. This is also why I changed the shape of the 1 to a sphere as now even if enemies are pulled from behind koumei when she rolls triple 6s on her new 4 they would still pass through her new 1.
      Koumei's passive: The passive could function similarly to how her melee weapon works, every 30 seconds you roll one dice (time could be made longer or shorter) and you'll get a buff based on its roll. A 1 would give all of her weapons one element lets say toxic. A 2 would be 2 and so on. A 6 similar to her melee weapon would be your jackpot but in this case all of her weapons would now give one proc of all elements including the IPS damage too. It's a fun idea I had in mind so that all of her weapons will benefit in some way rather than making you swap to whatever it decides it wants to be on at the moment. I found many times I just wanted to have some melee fun so two thirds of the time i basically had no passive which felt rather bad. This issue gets worse when you get decrees that encourage you to stick to one of the three like say, any melee decree which would discourage you from using primary and secondary weapons thus making her passive worthless most of the time.
      I can only roll the dice here and hope someone from DE or perhaps Pablo himself might stumble across this and maybe consider some of these changes. I do not expect all of them (or even one of them) to be implemented but I felt strongly enough about Koumei to do something I normally do not do and write my thoughts down in regards to her. If I could only choose from one of these to have DE/Pablo implement it would be the changes I listed above to her 2. I feel like this would be a lot simpler to do vs the reworks I gave the other abilities as my suggestions for her 2 are largely just to make it behave like the system does in Duviri itself. The other half of the buffs to the cool down of the ability itself I would still very much like to see it come to the game but if all DE/Pablo did was make it behave like it does in Duviri with 4 decrees to choose from and all drifter intrinsics applied in and out of duviri then I'd be happy enough.
      BONUS: As Koumei is now stats largely dont affect her very much and one change i would make to this would be to allow power strength to tilt the odds in her favor more. The more power strength you give Koumei the better her odds will be when rolling her dice. This also leans into her whole "change fate" theme. As it stands she doesn't do much fate changing when you roll the dice, it just is what it is. This is what I'd change to remedy that.

    I do agree she's good. It can feel like a struggle to survive with her a lot, especially considering I was running a shield gate setup and didn't catch the efficiency buff kills that. I plan to try that suggestion with the shield setup. At least right now, it feels like she needs Silence to avoid dying to status procs. This does work with her kit considering strength doesn't come up, so you are probably grabbing more range and duration.
    Now this might be a bit extreme, but I kinda wish omamori had some damage reduction while active. Its a 50% chance to cause damage to heal with 3 seconds cooldown. Maybe its just going to be a shield regen thing since the shield tanks seem to have damage reduction innate, but the frames besides Nidus that health tank lack a ton of armor. This ability would make it easier to survive if it dealt with that core issue. Instead its good IF you can bring damage reduction.

    This video really missed the mark for me on a couple of points:
    1). Arguing that a warframe enables condition overload doesn't exactly help the "weapons platform" allegations, especially when later in the video you suggest selecting certain types of weapons to enable said warframe's kit. Most of the other "weapons platform" warframes don't require weapons that are geared toward completing specific challenges.
    While it's true that she frees up a slot from secondary encumber, if the end result is priming enemies, then the question of "why not just bring a primer?" comes up, particularly when good primers guarantee the status effects you actually want instead of relying on chance.
    2). Arguing that a warframe's kit should be viable in SP isn't the same as arguing that a warframe's kit should be able to level cap. Every frame and weapon in the game can clear regular starchart with minimal effort so it's only really a good measure of a warframe's kit if that kit enables them to do missions particularly fast or effectively (ie speedrun Titania, defending objectives, etc.).
    It's perfectly fine to argue that a warframe should be designed in a way that allows them to perform well at the difficulty where builds actually matter.
    3). A warframe's kit being unique or enabling a specific playstyle is good, but imo they should at least be able to perform well with that playstyle and/or contribute something to the team in doing so. Qorvex and Limbo have distinct playstyles and can do unique things, but I don't think it's unreasonable to say that they have some glaring design issues.
    The comparisons to Baruuk and Nidus are both spot-on, and I think they both highlight the glaring weaknesses with her kit.
    Baruuk had a very unique kit that had *some* crossover with frames like Excalibur, but ultimately offered a completely different experience. The issue with Baruuk was that before SP, the game didn't really have a place for him to use his kit. In short: a unique kit isn't necessarily a good kit.
    Nidus is another frame with a really cool design and a lot of flavor, unfortunately the amount of time it takes for him to get online is longer than most missions last and even once he does get all his stacks, there are other frames that can do long missions better with minimal to no buildup... and Koumei takes even longer than that to get her kit online, which isn't a great place to be in...
    I can see where the arguments are coming from, but a lot of it kinda boils down to "Her kit doesn't do *nothing* and you can make it work" which is true but doesn't really sell me on her kit being "good".
    After all, Limbo is functionally immortal, can extend that defense to objectives, and can get some of the highest damage in the game, but that doesn't mean people are wrong to find issue with his design.

    I think my only major problem with komei is that there is nearly no luck prevention and she is so luck based that it makes it frustrating. at least they should give some luck protection esque powers or augments etc

    my favorite thing about koumei is watching the same people simultaneously complain about her not having gambling show through enough in her kit, WHILE complaining about how her survivability power and decree power are too RNG dependent

    the biggest issue I had with koumei is one that there's a fix in the pipeline for. Namely, that teammates eat your lunch on the decree challenges. My other issue is that I think the escalating cooldowns are excessive, and I wish we had some of the spicier decrees available. Duviri's decrees are best when you can choose one that's good for your build. If they're taking that away from us, I'd like to at least take some of the duds out of the pool. I took her through some steel path survivals and did pretty well, I just don't enjoy her kit. Good weapons can carry a mission which makes weapons platform frames a bit hard to judge sometimes but most of her abilities feel kneecapped by arbitrary limitations. Threads only apply a status once if an enemy just stands in them, decrees have a long, long cooldown, onamori's cooldown makes it feel (to me) like it's doing nothing and has multiple layers of rng. Yes, I get that she's the rng frame but a lot of the time it just feels like too much rng. The decrees are randomly selected already, and now you don't get to pick from a selection on top of possibly getting a debuff from the challenge itself. Onamori has a random number of charges and also a random chance to work. Threads and bunraku's level of rng is fine. She can perform well enough but something about the way she plays just doesn't do it for me.

    7:03 3-4% chance to become invincible though what you essentially getting is 50% evasion but more complicated and it goes on a 3 second cool down Xaku impractical has greater survivability and probably takes less hits than Koumei
    You mentioned the triple six is like it matters it has a 3-4% chance of happening at most and you can’t recast the ability unless you have 5 charms so you have to sit there and take care or repeatedly jump off a cliff or going to nullifier bubbles again and again all of which is not fun

      The odds are weighted. Its not actually 3-4%. Koumei has a pity system built in. DE just didnt want to admit it.

    i think beginning the cooldown immediately when casting her 2 is a great idea, and i want to had more to it. normal decrees also give you benefits even if you got a shit one. AKA +HP and +Damage for every decree you have. i think we should give koumei something similar.
    so something like "for each decree koumei holds, she gains 5% status damage and 5% status duration, up to 100%". and let it also be a final multiplier. imo it would make her feel better even if you got a bad decree.

    12:13 4h and still weak ;C finisher finisher finisher upgrade auto reload on kill and upgraded the next 2 times stupid amounts of just nothing burgers with nothing make her scale with the amount of decrees or give her some ability to choose has she needs one of 3-6 decrees to scale well (or stupid power guns that are meta of meta) or add more of the really good decrees or some combo of these 3 or remove the finisher and auto reload on kill (the roll for reload is much better)

    8:30 I’ve subsumed null star w/neutron star over omamori to have another offense/defense button and completing 2’s challenges. cuz of the inconsistency of her 3 @ 6:53 is usually why I don’t like it but I still have enough DR to not die in SP. and also take advantage of archon vitality for more priming/damage. does my build sound like a meta slave or does it sound balanced?

      Except now you don't have to use weapons for priming and you get the ability to mod them for something else (Acceltra for trash clearing/Laetum for tanky enemies/Acolytes for example).

      Koumei is not perfect, but she ain't bad by any metric.

      My companions are already utility. I never said she was bad. I do believe there are frames that do what she does but better. If I need status from a frame I can play citrine. People are acting like a primer frame is new. It’s not. If I want fun buffs I can play other frames too. Like citrine. I think my problem with it is it is a gun platform, but unlike other frames where it is a guaranteed power, this is only a chance, and I will always take the guarantee over the chance.
      And my weapons are already purpose built. This frame has not and will not change how I play anything because I am already doing it. It also takes the same amount of time to press a button to prime as it does click a button to shoot to prime.

    I like her concept but its her decree gathing that has me tilting away since as the enemys keep geting stronger i keep geting duds and that cooldown keeps geting bigger as im trying to catch up, i tryed moding for the utility to help get those but it still takes away way to much. At this point i wish we had a mod that was a combination of those 3 things sliding, wall latch, and aim gliding just for her to give that help and have kills reduce the cooldown.

    Great video, one issue i have though, you say decrees that give extra armor are essentially useless but this isnt always the case, there is a decree that gives extra ability strength based on your armor, which itself is useful, but it turns decrees like rain of vitality, corrosive grit, and tamms fortune into massive buffs to ability strength although it is very situational

      Plus, if you run Arcane Battery, it means Armor decrees boost your energy pool. Energy based decrees seem to be the most statistical likely effect to pull from her 2nd ability.

    I feel like Koumei should have come with a Vazarin or Naramon aura polarity instead of Madurai. Aerodynamic seems to fit with the challenges you are given.

    Keep in mind that people will always gravitate towards the easiest, most effective tool to do the job at hand, and that's how a meta is born.
    Also, no, I like my Glaive and I refuse to use any other melee cause I hate this game's melee system and it's combo counter.

      Which Glaive do you use specifically? I use Xoris or the Pathocyst. Glaive Prime especially got really nuke after the past few patches in terms of general strength. I say this as somebody who has uses practically nothing but Glaives or Praedos for movement lol. Xoris and Pathocyst are unironically stronger than Glaive Prime at the moment. What screws over Glaive Prime is that it has a forced blast proc that messes up the elemental weighing of the pop. Considering Melee Influence throwing weapons is pretty much a room nuke and Xoris has like the biggest explosion radius as far as Glaive type weapons go. As for Combo Counter go, get Galvanized Reflex, EZ x5 or x6 combo counter that doesn't really decay till you lose the Galvanize buff. I'm LR4 so are my friends so we do nothing but waste forma and arcane adapters to test out weapons and from a lot of testing, that's really what me and my group consensus ended at.

      @@SpectreCarliYour average Warframe player everybody. Doesn't read the whole effect. Sure it has force slash but it also has forced blast since you do need to detonate the Glaive when you throw it. And that's what messes it up Glaive is the added blast procs you get from detonating.

      @@lanoche I use Glaive Prime, which forces slash procs when you blow it (heavy attack) and I have not noticed anything about this nerf you're mentioning. And I'm pretty sure there's no forced blast proc on it's explosion, even the wiki says it's forced impact and slash.

    I got Koumei in the steel path circuit, I don't own Koumei so I was using the basic build. I have no problems at all me and my squad went for a fair few rounds. I was hesitant at first because of how her 3 works but honestly it was not problem.

    Maaaan I love when my threads does 1 and only states effect to an enemy while they are standing in them (that of course IF it hits them).
    Fantastic “BEGINNER” warframe that is totally Worth spending all the time and resources at early game get other than idk crafting Rhino or someone else.
    Plus warframes (usually) aren’t really as important in the normal stat chart you can do the whole normal stat chart using Excalibur with no forma, enemies are weak, deal no damage and take loads of damage (Usually). And this frame is MADE for endurance runs which “beginner” players won’t really be doing much of.
    Her 1 should deal status procs as long as engines are touching them and make us be able to have 2 instances of it.
    Her 2 should give us a choice between 2 decrees and a 3rd option of choosing no decree at all (incase both of them fucks with our build in some way), and when we cancel the challenge not go on a 60s CD.
    Her 3 is fine I think. I believe every frame should have an ability that’s not too great but is okay. Make people try to make it work for funnys and easy choice to subsume of need be.
    Her 4 should deal more damage of enemies have statues effect on them and the damage scales with the amount of states present. (Kinda like condition overload) but for abilities.
    And to stay her passive buffs weapons….. oh wow my weapon that was 1 shoting enemies now is slightly better I can 100% tell the deference. IDC about her passive that much.
    Yes that’s my opinion and people can disagree with it but to say that these aren’t a problem and not acknowledge them you’re just lying to yourself and to everyone. I love your videos but this isn’t a great one chief. ❤

    You know I'm fine with gambling if losing doesn't mean being screwed for an entire hour of mission. I did a level cap Void Cascade a few days ago and I only got one or two decrees that actually had an effect on my gameplay.
    So, her 2 is her worst and her best ability. However not having the possibility to choose your decree to a minimal extent and having a 150s timer only to get another "on finisher" decree just feels awful in gameplay. If anybody say "skill issue" they're litteraly lying to themselves.
    Having a 4th ability that's limited to "priming" is also the saddest thing. An Epitaph and a companion can do that. That's an entire ability just to made a mod function.

    Honestly, she CAN be a good Warframe if you have a headshotting secondary, a primary for general killing and status procs and she should be fine.
    She is very frustrating though, a first ability that needs you to throw a very tiny orb at people or rely on their brain-dead ai to walk though it, meanwhile the 4th contradicts the first by not allowing them to walk through it. Feels anti-synergy to me. I'm aware they both do the same thing, but it feels weird to have two abilities play a similar role. Ones easier to cast but loves to put its effects all over the ceiling than where people actually are, while the other bombs everyone in front of you for 60 goddamn metres while also providing crowd control... For a measly 3 second cool down.
    The second... Is, annoying as all hell, the challenges are fine, she has the capability to do all of her challenges. However! The two minutes and thirty seconds of not having a second ability is ATROCIOUS. She couldn't have the ability to call up another challenge for a temp buff or something? Maybe decrease the timer, it just sits there and taunts you after giving max swooping miasma.
    The third feels gross, an ability with chance AND a Cool down? Sure, it's only 3 seconds, but if you're unlucky a single knockdown and its just over, use prime sure-footed? Well now you're invalidating one of Koumei's decrees. It feels horrible whenever I start a survival because I can never get the thing to proc, to which i can't complete a challenge because im to busy spamming abilities to give Omomori the ability to proc for god sake.
    She can be a good frame, she's just very, VERY frustrating.

      I dunno how correct the math is, but someone calculated that the average chance of getting a triple six is just over 3%... might as well not even exist.

I understand that her gimmick is fate and chance, but when almost 9/10 abilities casted won't get the effect, I really makes me question how reliable her kit actually is. I mean, a chance to get a "better Mesmer Skin" sounds awesome until you realize Rev can cast and recast it basically whenever.
      To quote someone who I think put it best, "The reason why so many games make [chance characters] work is because the character is a cheater and influences the best outcome a lot of the time". Koumei doesn't do that. At least not enough.

    Another problem with Koumei is that her 4-th prevents abilities from other frames(probably a bug). When i played as Dagath in circuit enemies affected by Kumihimo couldn't be affected with Doom or damaged by Cavalery
