The New JBL Charge 4 is kind of going through its iPhone XS refresh cycle… As in, its not all the different from the previous JBL Charge 3, but there are some small but significant changes under the hood on the new charge 4. Heres whats new and what I like about the new JBL Charge 4, and do you really need to upgrade if you already have the previous JBL Charge 3.

I will only buy JBL speakers due to their customer service they have. My speaker battery had gone to shit and I called them and to see about replacing battery and expecting to pay since my warranty was expired about 6 months ago. I thought they were gonna give the, “the not our problem now” brush off but instead they quickly offered to send me a new one as long as I send back mine!!! They paid for return label and all. It was so refreshing to have a company that does right and go beyond what is obligated of them. Great speaker and customer service and company.

Zackeroo HQ eh, Spotify has a fairly good equalizer built in and that works very well through my flip 4.

I think the charge 4 has more clear audio, with deeper bass, and great battery life. I also like the look of the radiators. Great speaker! I recommend it!

The bass feature is undeniably appreciated but the treble is more distinct in charge 3.
Im so glad jbl decided to include an aux jack because I still use an ipod classic and i also use mu speakers as a monitor for electric bass.

I just got the charge 3 before the charge 4 was realeased. Is it really necessary for me to upgrade?
Also you said it was ipx7 but be careful with the radiators. What do you mean by that?

Dude you should totally review alter Lansing speakers you won’t be disappointed! I have 3 and love them all but need to get a new one and sell some others lol.
I was disappointed with the sound of altec lansing but they look a bit more durable than JBL

Is it okay for the battery if the speaker is plugged to the power and used always? Maybe using an AUX cable to further reduce the stress on the battery. Use case will be for PC audio.

Charge 4 2x is 60watts in total. As if the xtreme 2 when powered by battery is only 20 watts and 40 watts when plugged in.
I have a fake charge 2+ which I plugged into the pc and made the sound clear + the bass higher... its awesome for $20

I wanna give you little advice as an improvement of your videos. Find better place where you present devices or make your room better, i mean give it more light and put something in background, may try to change point of view. Bcs way you present is perfect and how you compare devices. Just could be cleaner. Im sure ppl would appreciate it :)

Going to get the charge 3, seems better to me cause of the 2 speakers and not an off centered 1 speaker
The type c charging is the only real upgrade it seems. The bass on the charge 3 seems more than fine on its own, and the only reason the type c charging should be a plus would be the need to carry one less charging cord for Android users. As a charge 3 owner, it is a solid speaker and dosent seem like an update is needed.

By chance I came across the JBL Charge Essential today, which was on sale
at my local superstore for €98 (JBL's current fantasy-MSRP is €179
IIRC). After I listened to it (and compared it to a spec-monster,
house-brand model for €50), I decided the JBL was probably as good as it
was going to get in the bang-for-buck department, so I bought it. From
what I understand it's a tweaked Charge 3 sold under the "Essential"
label. It lacks the hands-free- and Connect-options, but other than
that, all the features and specs are the same as with the Charge 3.
AUX-In, 6000mAh battery, battery-pack-function and IPX7. It doesn't have
USB-C and only runs BT4.1 ... but I still think it's a pretty good deal
at the price I paid.

i have both, they both sound really good, the 4 so far to me a little more detailed sounds crisper highs, the 3 has better midrange, but i used an equalizer and crank up my midrange on the 4, i think the 4 is a little better sound, got mine at walmart for 124 dollars today
I've been on the fence about picking up a charge 4 or charge 3. Everybody says it's about the same in sound quality. Some say the 4 has more bass some say the 3 has more bass. The fact speakerphone is gone pushed me towards a 3 but it's old. Why not get the newest and does it matter if its mono as long as it sounds better. I went for the charge 4.
Compared it to my friend who opted for the charge 3. The 4 is better. Its brighter and bassier. Don't know how they did it but it actually sounds like stereo more than the charge 3 and the bass is more prevalent. So for $20 more you lose speaker phone but get better sound.

Yu Huan Depends on the room, the sounds are probably resonating causing a echo effect and that is what the microphone is picking up

Just got a charge 4. Over the charge 3 the sound quality is better by a good margin. Loudness is the same. Being mono hasn’t negatively affected it at all. Both however gets really loud for the size and doesn’t distort.
Has anyone had the chance to compare the Charge 3 or 4 to Anker’s soundcore flare plus?

*Purchased a black JBL Charge 3.* Let me know if I made a mistake.
Friend has a Charge 3, love the bass and the lack of distortion at very high volumes, overall in love with the speaker. Heard about the Charge 4 and decided to look it up, and the fact that it has a mono system instead of stereo is a major turn-off for me, as well as the lack of ability to put the speakers in left-right orientation.
Centiliter the charge 4 has more bass, though it has the mono. it does not overpower the song with bass, but I've listened to both, I'd get the charge 4. (P.S) u could really get either one. This is just my opinion

That works with the charge 2 and 3 , also never do that, your speakers get extremely tired and might blow out.

a good song for testing the bass and the quality is "had some drinks" from "two feet" test it yourself (it's my favourite song)
This song is not good for testing. Muffeled bass at around 40-60hz. If you want to test bass, use a song that uses the range from 20-200hz. However, dont judge speakers just from the bass. You need to test the treble as well.

Just got the xb31 and I will be returning it for the either the charge 3 or 4. It sounds great for jazz, hip hop and electronic but sounds horrible for rock and metal which are my main genres.
