I bought one of these for visual, no photography beyond simple pics like what your phone camera does. I already had 2 manual mounts, but I was offered over $1000 for my refigured beefed up C6-N Newtonian to 1/12th wave and a near perfect .986 Strehl. At $1000 it was hardly more than I'd already put into it. So I was offered near a Takahashi price and sold it.
I bought this and a 2" dielectric diagonal plus a cheap 26mm 2" eyepiece. I boosted it up to 224x at Sirius with a polarizing and yellow/green filter, it was perfect in my Southern NM skies on the Orion Nebula. At that high a power you needed an EQ mount like the CG-4 I had to follow it in the night sky.

I just purchased one of these scopes and I had it out for first light last night. I was VERY impressed for the price. I just got back into Astronomy after a 15 year hiatus. We were not able to buy an ED 4" refractor for that price 15 years ago!
BTW, less bouncing around with your camera would be better. Your camera moved so much, I was reaching for the Dramamine. Other than that, good video.

Beautiful scope! I have heard the virtues of an 80mm scope for portability.

Thanks! I'm definitely looking at getting a nice little 80mm APO in the future! I didn't mention it, but you can see a little 80mm achro (Celestron Firstscope 80) on the accessory tray of the big scope here. Talk about a size difference!

@@JoshUrbanAstronomy I think I saw your vid on it. Its the black one correct?

@@lornaz1975 Yep, it's the black one (in the long intro to the channel, too) I haven't done a big review on it, but that little scope is a workhorse!

@@JoshUrbanAstronomy Do you find it to be a workhorse do to the compact size and ease of carry and use or some other reason? I am looking into possibly getting an 80mm thus the reason for the question.

@@lornaz1975 Ah, great question! I should specify: it was my first telescope, and I used it to its max. I could see a surprising amount of stuff with it! HOWEVER, given the similarity in price to a 6" dob, I'd definitely choose the dob. But, it's definitely a nifty platform. I'd like to get an 80mm APO and see how that goes. Mine is a little f/5 short tube achromat.

More scope, less Josh. :) The very few times the scope is in view is only partially in view and from an angle. Plenty of face time for the reviewer, though..lol

I’m glad that’s a fisheye lens cause this telescope looks curved.
