SO, SO, SO underrated. It bothers me that there are people out there making gadzillion dollars on fake, autotuned, synthesized "music" and here is an undeniable PURE talent. David Cook is every bit as good LIVE as he is in the studio. How many of the pseudo-stars of today can we say that about? If it can't be pitch controlled or autotuned or lip-synched, then they can't do it.
My favorite song of his too! A Grammy-worthy song and male performer too. Oh how I wish David’s talent will be noticed because it’s a waste not to have his name written in numerous awards and halls😢 He is the most talented in the American Idol contestants and winners.

I love watching him sing LIE, the Accapella is spectacular. I'm glad at least when he sang it here you could see him and the didn't dim the lights during the accapella. IT'S SIMPLY HYPNOTIC...NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU WATCH HIM SING IT!!!!!!
oh my..brought tears to my eyes.. i loved david cook on idol and this just brought that emotion back, makes me ashamed that i missed my chance to see him concert. the acapela made me tear up then of the lyrics...just beautiful

This song "Lie" was written in 2008 by David Cook, Zac Maloy, Espen Lind, and Amund Bjorklund for Cook's 2008 released album "David Cook". It has been sung on his Declaration Tour. I believe this was his first performance of the song on TV.
Mesmerizing! David looks and sounds so gorgeous! This performance was sheer perfection and the only reason I even watched. Still totally bummed that the duet was not aired...epic fail.
After finding this link on my local radio station website-I had to watch it yet again-Omg it still moves me and makes me so sad and disappointed that it was never released as a single w/ even this for a video would be so amazing....then I watched it again and wound up in tears for no reason other than David's singing-what the heck is that? I keep hoping since there is no playlist for "This Quiet Night" that he will surprise us with his evolved version of "Lie"!!!
And from comments of friends who attended the taping, the live performs was even more amazing. Something just didn't make it onto tape. And the audience's reaction was twice as loud and long as they showed on the show. Two standing ovations. The duet, sadly never aired, also was supposedly totally awesome.
I swear this song is soo damn amazing that if it was released today it would be a hit! The lyrics and melody are timeless! Love how David Cook has changed this up a bit since it was recorded , esp in his acoustic performances!

This song spoke to me the moment I heard it and I couldn't figure out why until I saw his first live performance after his brother died...I have lost more than one close relative, like David has, to a prolonged illness and that is why the song speaks to me...kinda amazing that one song can have so many meanings to so many. Thanks for serving us oversees and I wish you better lady luck in the future *wink*

When I saw him do this song live in Providence, it was amazing. He stepped back from the microphone and just projected his voice out. It was possibly the most amazing moment I've ever been at in a concert. This video doesn't do it any justice at all.
That enthusiastic standing ovation at the end was extremely well deserved! Fantastic rendition of my absolute favorite song of his from his first post-AI CD! Both albums he's put out so far are just fantastic! Can't wait for album #3 he's working on....

it's funny, I heard about this song on a forum for Archuleta. Someone had mentioned how he likes when David moved away from the mic when he sang this song. Not entirely sure what he meant by that but this song really is beautiful and I automatically respect any singer that doesn't sound horrible live. Anyway to buy this song with the a capella part?
