By requesting his songs into radio stations and playing on TH-cam (and I think Spotify too) we can get him into the charts. . . we have the power if we come together.
It hurts knowing that this guy has never given enough recognition. He's got an amazing voice and such a great personality. The fact that he's humble and not self-conscious about it and his real talent adds to his overall charm. Such a pity. I hope he comes back sooner. He's the kind of musician we need, not unlike most of the "musicians" we have today. Oh, and he's sexy, too. haha
Absolutely the best male vocalist to ever come into the spotlight from American Idol. An a model for the perfect rock voice. Rich low baritone voice that's more dynamic than the best out there to tenor high notes that stay rich and full even when he's in full belt. This is what every singer wishes they could do. Most tenors who can hit those crazy high notes have to really be carefully on the low-end or they sound thin... Cook has vocal chords from Heaven.
+rmzzz76 I was thinking "well who actually IS the best male vocalist of idol...." while I read this.. and well, you're right! It's David! I'm no huge fan but Ruben's 'Luther' vibe is pretty killer too. Female vocalist is easily Kelly.
Never really said too much Afraid it wouldn't be enough Just try to keep my spirits up When there's no point in grieving Doesn't matter anyway Words could never make me stay Words will never take my place When you know I'm leaving Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Something I rely on to get home One I can feel at night A naked light, a fire to keep me warm Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Even in the daylight, shine on And when it's late at night you can look inside You won't feel so alone You know we've been down that road What seems a thousand times before My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons That roll out underneath my heels And you don't know how bad it feels To leave the only one that I have ever believed in Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Something I rely on to get home One I can feel at night A naked light, a fire to keep me warm Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Even in the daylight, shine on And when it's late at night you can look inside You won't feel so alone yeah Sometimes it feels like we've run out of luck When the signal keeps on breaking up When the wires cross in my brain You'll start my heart again When I come along Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Something I rely on to get home One I can feel at night A naked light, a fire to keep me warm Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Even in the daylight, shine on And when it's late at night you can look inside You won't feel so alone Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Even in the daylight, shine on And when it's late at night you can look inside You won't feel so alone
David should have been around in the 90s. Would have been huge back in the day when alt rock was big.i always think of this song when I'm driving home to my family across the north dakota steppe.
I stopped watching American Idol after the Taylor Hicks debacle. Some of the singers that came after that may have been looked over or forgot entirely. David Cook has an amazing voice. I think its been about 11 years since he was on AI but maybe other then Adele his voice and lyrics are so soul penetrating.
This was a very popular radio song at the time. But at the time this came out, (honestly its been a long trend over the entire 2000s), but the charting success of rock ballads were getting smaller and smaller every year. This could have been a runaway hit in 2001. (Also, American Idol became sort of known for producing season winners who indeed had a huge hit song in them, but many of the seasons winners failed to stay relevant as pop superstars a year plus after winning on the show. I'd say David Cook was the very last American Idol winner with interesting hype behind him as he legit entered the industry as a recording artist).

Still here in 2020. And somehow, at 6:30am on a Sunday in this crazy year, this song hits me harder and deeper now than it ever has. Missing CC and wishing I could hear David in concert soon...

A great and highly underrated singer.
Almost all American Idols are underrated.

It is a rare thing for an artist to leave you with goosebumps no matter when you listen to their songs. David Cook is certainly one of those artists.
Great artist singing one of the best ever artists ( Chris Cornell) written songs. And he does it exceptionally!
I got goosebumps listening it right now

Chris Cornell's songwriting will do that to a person.
