Wish we lived closer! J has built a coop before I know he would help ya’ll! Love you
We built our coop many years ago and our flock has grown to 23 hens now. Ours is 4 foot by 6 foot with 3 nest boxes. It's raised off the ground and we use sand in our coop and nest boxes. Clean it out daily with a kitty litter scoop.. They have two roosting shelves and a center roost and they all fit in with room to perch. Bought a scrap piece of vinyl for the floor and tacked it in and up the sides of the coop a good 6 inches. We insulated ours so the walls are a good 2 inches thick. Once a year we pull the sand out and power wash all the walls, floor and the walls, They have a 30 foot by 15 foot run all built with PVC pipe and Hardware cloth. The hardware cloth is under ground and wired to the side walls as well as the top and covered over with poly roofing. We built it completely predator proof. Remember do not use chicken wire, it only helps to keep chickens in but predators can rip right through it. Hardware cloth is your friend for making a secure run and coop.
