Sadly true. I too, born and raised in So. Cal., along with my two brothers and my sister. We have left California. One to Oregon, another to No. Carolina and my sister, she moved to Mexico. No longer home. We all left for these very reasons mentioned in this video.
I moved to Eugene, OR in 1966, and there were signs "Do not Californicate Oregon". I went back to CA and left for Seattle area in 1977 and as of 12-14-19, I am in Sedona, AZ. So happy to be here, even the Covid-19 restrictions were a piece of cake here.

As a Californian, it's sad how this state operates. It has the highest state tax and good luck buying a house here because of property tax, oh did I mention most people did not repeal the gas tax in a ballot!? They basically voted yes to have more taxes and then complain the gas prices are too high and yet the roads haven't been fixed by that tax money. I'm from the East Coast, and had always wanted to live in California. Left the military out there in 1980 and got a job. It took me 7 years to realize the California I wanted to live in wasn't there any longer. It was gone. I moved back east and got a home and a job in a beautiful mostly conservative community, and retired for good 10 years ago. Life is good. Low crime and good neighbors. Now I can go anywhere I want. Kalifornia isn't even anywhere on my list. I don't miss it.
I'm in Ohio. I had two friends that moved their families to California back in the 80's. They both had good jobs and bought affordable homes. Up until about 10 years ago, the property values went up as did property taxes that became unaffordable. They sold their homes for far more than what they bought them for and left California. One friend moved his family to Arizona and my other friend and his wife came back to Ohio. They both had enough money after selling their homes in California to buy nice homes when they moved to Arizona and Ohio. One had a job as an engineer writing computer programs and the other worked as a semi-truck driver and income tax also became too much which took a huge bite into their income. California is not the only state with a mass exodus. I'm starting to see more cars here in Ohio with New York and New Jersey license plates every day.
Left Ohio in 98, job relocation, no jobs there... People were buying in Phase 1 of a new housing development... House completed as Phase 3 list is going... They never move into phase 1 house and sell it making $50k... They milked the market and caused the collapse... I sold 2 homes in Ohio, made a modest profit but had made improvements in sweat equity... My house in CA increased 3x its value for no reason... Over regulation, stalling buracratic procedures... Heavy taxation, lawlessness, overpopulation of immigrants, English as a secondary language, Homeless people and filth everywhere... drugs and gangs... Don't feel safe as a right leaning moderate... Going home this month!!!
I come from a France, arrived in CA in 2005. I have been living here since then and saw how this state changed. People are fighting to get a place to live. People working in the bay area, move to the valley with their high incomes and push away people with lower income (domino effect). People with minimum wage cannot afford housing and have to get roommates to afford a small place. That's for the lucky ones. Others are homeless, even with a job. I'm making decent money (3 times the minimum wage) and I have a have a roommate to afford my bills and my homeowner insurance. Homeowner insurances have been dropping people due to high fire danger. The rate of people being drop by their homeowner insurance has raised to 600%. A neighbor, living in a manufactured home has been hit with a $8,000 homeowner insurance that would cover only fire. In addition, he will have to get a liability insurance and a complementary insurance to cover for theft, water damage.... you really think that someone living in a manufactured home can afford an extra $10,000 a year in insurance? Then, you had the power shut off and the fire risk.... You're right I'm leaving. I can retire in 3 years, I am not going to work 3 jobs because my retirement will not be enough. I plan on moving to Idaho. Bye California.
Good for you for making the right decision. I just moved here in 2012 and I already want to leave this ruined state. I'm thinking North of California since I have lived previously in the South, Southeast, and Midwest. BTW, I am conservative coming from TX originally.

I rarely comment but I am from California. I go to a 27k a year high school in San Francisco with a 33 percent acceptance rate. You might think that it is full of great things but it isn't. Drugs just about everywhere including the bathrooms, strong support for liberalism where nancy pelosi, AOC, and bernie are the saints of the school. Religion is not a thing. It merely exists even at a Catholic high school. The exuberantly high cost of living where you can have 1 million dollars and a 70k salary and still struggle. It breaks my heart to see such a beautiful place fall apart. I've lost so many of my friends to drugs and the culture of California. Please don't come here. And if you leave, don't vote for these people who made California the place it is.
The elephant in the room for Californica is pedophilia. And it appears radical atheism is morphing into variants of literal satanism. That's not widely known but it's starting to come out now. Child sex trafficking, which is rampant now, is tied in with it. California is now a breeding ground for the most toxic trends at play in the culture.

CA is much more than just LA & SF, and we shouldn't lump in the whole state with those two metro areas, but those in office in Sacramento do affect the whole state, and they are pretty much of the SF & LA mindset right now. Not everyone in CA is "full of themselves".
@@TampaAerialMedia Im in rural California myself, next to the Sierras. I know we vote more conservative than the bible belt, we just get walked on every election. Heck, my California family is more conservative than my midwest family, which is where we originally came from. Ca is the worst state for the middle class.
It's run by the upper middle class FOR the upper middle class.
In Ca you it is getting to the point where it is only going to have two classes. The super wealthy and people on welfare and reliant on the Gov.
There is only Rich and Poor in CA. No in-between. Even if you have a great job, you aren't making enough to buy the house you want in the neighborhood you want. You could waste your whole life renting an apartment, never owning anything!

Born and raised in Northern California, I moved to Nashville 10 years ago. I still LOVE California, but rent and home prices prevent me from going back. I miss the weather and scenery every day.
How do you feel about living in Nashville? Do you love it?
I grew up in California. I spent up to my teen years living there. I would not go back even though I have fond memories of the beauty of my home state. I would not want to see with my own eyes what has befallen it. For those who align with the left, that cheered each liberal policy and legislation, please do not bring that same mentality with you as you flee what you thought would be your utopia. The rest of the country will thank you.
Growing up in CA was great, high school and my first job everything was going so good. But after over 55 years there I seen the state go down and down. So I finally moved out to Kingman, AZ in April 2020, a smaller town but that is what I wanted. Best decision I ever made. This video is so true. I hope and pray that better Representatives will be voted in because I still have family living in CA.
Tom Urich Hope you vote Red!!!
Vote straight Republicans. Vote Trump 2020. Save America
Bro, Americans won’t have a decent or free life anymore without destroying the Chinese communist party completely. They would like to do everything to overwhelm Americans’ freedom. God bless you.
Born and raised in Cali. Leaving as soon as I can after 48 years. Only thing I’ll miss is the beautiful weather.
Welcome back to the USA, you might enjoy the change of seasons. Certainly will enjoy all the other advantages, good luck my friend.
I've heard Florida among other places gets nice winters, although the summers are very humid and fairly hot. If you prefer dry heat, Arizona has decently mild winters but very hot summers. I'm considering moving to both from Maryland after college. California does have great weather but there are other places that do as well.
The climate in CA has gone to the dogs. It's hotter than hell and humid in the summer, cold and rainy all winter, the fires never quit, the water at the beaches is often polluted with sewage from "a pipe in an arroyo that just happened to break" (every single year), the state park and forest service people are fascist assholes, the Blacks burn down the place whenever they get pissed, and the traffic is abominable. The nicest places in the state have been ruined by all the money grubbing yuppies and illegal aliens. If you're one of those damn yuppies, please stay the hell put. They ruined CA and are ruining the entire country with that clueless yuppie mentality (votes liberal but is a corporate shill).
I moved to Colorado June 2020. Thing I miss most about California is the cool ocean breeze in summer, the lack of citrus trees and fresh herbs growing everywhere.
