- I recorded this video over the course of 3 days, and I hoped to show you what my typical day might look like, from the beginning of the day until it's done. I edited private info out.

Amazon got to redefine what a group stop is... 2 separate houses should be counted as 2 stops.
A high rise apartment building with a front desk person to receive packages for their community mailroom/package room counts as the real "group stop" since he/she can sign for all those apartments in that given building...
Amazon spies, see this and implement it!
The beta version of the Flex app is about to be pushed out to all the drivers. In it, you can ungroup a stop, or regroup a stop with different locations. , especially in apartment complexes.

I hope more DSPs can assign the same drivers to the same areas daily, and hopefully with the same vans...so they'll know the area knowledge on when to ignore the robot navigation and do what you explained... less stress that way and better overall service for the customers. Plus you'll know by memory which houses has good or bad dogs.
bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball from one area to the next daily for swing drivers stinks.
Yeah it would be nice, but that's not how Amazon does it, so all we can do is make the best of what we have. I think by being organized, studying your route on the rabbit before you leave the station and having a backup map tool can really help with some common issues. @@Mestizo90 I work out of WNY-1 Conklin, NY and the DSP I work for are amazing and are on top of everything, they are there at the terminal every day and are very Approachable with making a request, as for the other Dsp's I'm honestly not sure how good they are.

Some of these Amazon drivers are crazy drivers.
In England we are not allowed to just leave the parcel at the doorstep because anyone could just steal it, we have to knock and wait for then to answer and if not in place in the customers safe location if given one and put inside a weather proof bag. Ylu guys have it so easy being able to just leave it at the door.
So often there is no on home, with the size of routes we can in cities, if we have to knock on every door and wait for a response, we would never get out packages delivered. We often look for a place we can leave the package that is not visible from the road and take the picture so that the customer knows where we left their package since they get the picture of the package delivery.

I trained quite a few Amazon drivers for USPS. None of them stayed. To be fair I think it was management that dropped the ball placing a new guy in my route to train. I do 713 houses a day, heavy mail and parcels. 10-11 hours daily non stop and 17 hours for the holidays. Amazon learned how to deliver with USPS but they only implemented the bad things. Feel for you guys.
That's interesting, currently, the Flex app will stop you from working more than 12 hours in any one day period, even if you still have packages. It will automatically remove them from your itinerary and tell you to RTS. I'm at one of the biggest stations in my state, and I don't know of any driver that gets that many stops. I think with UPSP is probably is easier to do that many because if you're in an urban or suburb area, you're just hitting one stop after the next, most houses get something. Whereas we can go into a subdivision have have 3 packed or 40 packages, it just varies, so we drive more between stops, and driving takes time. Thanks for watching!
I get 340 packages average and I’m one far from slow. I never work more than 10 hours. I don’t see how you get 713 houses.

@@MM-ig2zq I didn’t read your comment right. I thought you meant working at Amazon you were getting that many houses. There’s no competition bro. I comprehend what it takes very well. Doing these deliveries is nothing compared to the things I’ve done.
@@JonLevel2 it’s all good. Right out of the military I started working at USPS no way that I could have done right away what I do today. Took years of training and sweat. I trained some good ex Amazon drivers. But to have them in my route for someone that just started was overwhelming. I blame USPS management for this. End result these drivers left and I don’t blame them.

I agree but Amazon now measures this and is pushing it to the DSP's to enforce.
its not an emergency brake its a hand brake its designed to be used cars are not meant to be left in park with no hand brake on

I worked at the station in Trenton NJ, chill dsp. We don’t load inside like yall but outside. I don’t log in to mentor or any of that mess😂. My shift is 9/9:30am - whatever time finished. Usually it’s 7-8pm latest for everyone else. I finish my route super early cause I rush it, I’m done by like 3-4pm and I’m already headed back cause I don’t rescue anyone. I get way more packages than what I saw, I’m like on 17-19 bags, 30-40 overflows and we delivered by Howell. Honestly chill job, i feel they treat drivers unfairly with all these driving infractions, I freaking hated that camera.
Yeah we have our SUM at 9:10, and load out is at 9:35, and same as you, we are done whenever we get everything delivered. The area I was delivering to in this video has a stem time of over an hour before I get to my first stop, so my stop count is lower since I will have driven almost 3 hours just to get out there and back. However, we recently had a DSP area change, and now we are back in suburbs. I've been in the EDV mostly recently, and was hit last week while stopped with the hazards on making a delivery, I was not in the EDV when the car hit it. I will make a video on the accident in the EDV but it really screwed my day up. I sat for 5 hours and 30 minutes for the police to arrive, and that day I have a nearly full EDV since it was during Prime2 peak. I keep hearing more and more DSP's have stopped using Mentor, but it seems like mine is rigidly holding onto it. I don't run, I do briskly walk, but I don't run. @@Mestizo90 I don’t run either, I just got my headphones on, blast music and it goes by fast. If I ran which I tested it out out of curiosity I finish at 2pm. I have a way to organizing everything so I don’t have to look either. For example the first two bags that I work from I dump them in the front, overflows on the ground and the rest on the seats. Don’t have to go back and forth in the back and waste time, highest I’ve ever done was 65 stops an hour and that was like gated community. In the video delivering to places like that are amazing, low traffic, no long driveways. Mentor is still used at my dsp just some of us don’t log in😂 they don’t say anything really. Guess yours is more strict
oh yeah I love doing subdivisions, they are so easy and fast. I significantly dislike apartments. I have come to the conclusion recently that anyone who lives on the first floor of an apartment complex does not order from Amazon. In our new area, we have a LOT of apartments and I can't remember a single delivery on the first floor lol. And the flex app is seldom accurate on apartment locations, buildings and numbers, at least in this area lol.
@@Mestizo90 you are 150% correct, Amazon app is one of the worst to deal with. Lags, the pins are always wrong & idk about your dsp but here we used to do hard drops but now they want you to contact customer support. Theres a way to by pass that of course cause calling takes forever. Good luck to ya mate, stay safe
Yeah, the newest version of the ever evolving rules is for when there is a delivery problem is to, call customer twice, text customer then call driver support, that entire process gobbles p 10 minutes it seems like. My current MO is to just hit GPS not working, use my other phone with google maps, verify and deliver without GPS, take picture and be gone lol
That is the lightest load out I’ve ever seen. My nursery routes were double that😩
Indeed, I have an hour and half drive to the first stop, and same when I RTS, so there's 3 hours in just going and coming. Additionally, the stops are pretty far apart, sometime's I'll drive 5-10 minutes between stops. So it takes a while to do even though I didn't have as many stops as a normal city route would have. Well my first stop is about an hour and half from the station. The average day had about 80-110 stops, so not too many. It took about 6 hours to finish, then another hour and half drive back. It's an easy route physically, it just takes time cuz it's so far out and the stops are not close together, I have now posted a video on rural routes, country roads recently. However, we have since had a DSP area change since making this video, and we are now back in the suburbs and I've been in the EDV a lot recently. Thank you for watching!!

how are the drivers so chilled when loading.. in austria we had 10 minutes MAX... when you didnt finished you had to drive out and load it on a seperate parking spot
We have 20 minutes to load out. We also have a separate parking area for loading due to issues causing a delay, we call that the "milk run" area. Our station has 14 DSPs, and over 1,000 vans, it's a very large station. Thanks for watching, and I'd love to see how you guys do things. I'm curious about the similarities and the differences.

I work in that station for jfam for me is very easy any route the most important in this place is you can be outside if you don’t see you itinerary and your route and organization of your overflow I been ther for almost 2 years I make and complete any routes apt neighbor country trenches adhoc n flex in this job you can’t walk slowly cause obviously you gonna be behind in nobody want help after her route.

They are pretty strict on the age requirements. I'm not sure why, I don't know if its because some of our packages are prescriptions from Amazon's pharmacy, or because some products contain lithium-ion batteries in them. When I have a box that contains batteries, there is always a bi label saying caution. What you maybe can do is get hired on with a DSP in a non-driving role. I know at my DSP we have a 19 year old who does various things, but he does not drive yet. Maybe that's a possibility for you, not sure. Thanks for watching my video!

Another question. When you work ten hour days does that include the drive back from last stop? And also does the GPS tell you the exact stop you need to be at so that way you don’t have to keep inputting the addresses?
yes, the hours you work include all the driving to your first stop, all stops in between and your drive back to the station. Yes, the device called a Rabbit has gps and maps and routing software to help us.
I have a question, i had my first day today, and i saw all the drivers running to be able to load the vans , and when they are almost done, comes people saying ``lets go lets go, you have only 3 min`` they were saying that to all the drivers, but i feel they are aways in a rush, and in your video looks like its more chill about that, what do you think about it , do you think that depends on the company/dsp ?
Each day can be different, different load sizes etc. The day I recorded this, I have a very low amount of tote and packages and overflow. So there was no need to rush, and we were all done before the time limit. We definitely have days when we get close to the time limit and someone from the warehouse is yelling out time remaining lol. Usually this is during peak or just unusually heavy days. Thanks for Watching.

How many stops you had that day? Your van seems empty, I usually get like 20+bags and 30+overflow around 190+ stops around 357 packages wanna trade? Lol
It is a rural route, so I only had about 100 stops. My stem time to my first stop is 1 hour 30 minutes and the same back so I spend 3 hours just driving there and back and each stop is spread out, so I work but not physically lol.. But since then we have moved back into the suburbs so I'm carrying about 130-1560 stops in the EDV. Thanks for watching!

Idk, the so called "expert" that I trained with couldn't do anything close to 180 stops, let alone the one that lied to me about doing 187 stops with a coveted 800 - 430 schedule, yeah that's great if you don't have to rescue anyone but that 430 can easily turn into 6, 7, 8 , etc. you don't have a lot time before you have to be back after not being able to move and do it again and again, etc . . . I don't know what kind of b.s. they think anyone will believe . . .
I started my ride along two days ago, after they had me do 12 hours shift I said this is not for me. So I put in my resignation the next morning
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like it. It does get better and easier once you're done with your ride alongs and nursery routes. Depending on which DSP someone is with can have a significant impact on your happiness with your job. My DSP is really good, in my opinion. Lmfao wow that’s cake, Miami average stops a day is ATLEAST no less than 130 and you’ll never see less than 260 packages, I’ve been steady getting 320-400 packages daily
yeah these rural routes are very low on stops and packages, just because of the stem time and how spread out each stop is from the next. They are so relaxing and nice. Comparing that to my route yesterday in the city, I had 173 stops and 311 packages. Add to that that every single apartment I had was on the 2nd or 3rd, floor. I've concluded that first floor apartment residents don't order on Amazon lol. Thank you for watching :-)

Give me one reason why you won’t come to UPS and drive?
1, at the present time, I'm happy where I am at. 2, I have no clue what UPS is like or if they'd want me or what the process is to become a driver, though I've heard stories about having to be seasonal and do sorting before becoming a driver, and I don't want seasonal work. 3, I get customers who know when I am arriving and have some interesting and sometimes unusual conversations with them that I've grown to like, and I enjoy seeing them happy with me delivering whatever it was they were waiting for. 4, I enjoy a pretty easy schedule and flexible time off. 5, My current leadership is pretty good, and I enjoy working with them. They have been honest, respectful and supportive of me.

I've heard so many different statements about what UPS is paying that I really don't know what is true and accurate. I've heard drivers lease their truck or own it and are independent contractors, I've heard they get paid $150,000 but pay for their own gas, maintenance etc, I've heard they get $50,000. There's no way for me to know what is accurate. Can you contact me directly?

What do you do about lunch and bathroom?
You get 2 15 min paid breaks and 1 30 min unpaid break. Bathroom for a dude would just be a porta potty or bring an empty bottle
Do you often have to really hustle to maintain a good pace or are you always just walking at a normal pace?
Every driver has their own way or style I guess, but for me, I do not run, that's who you can get hurt. I walk briskly. I think the thing that helps me the most is being organized in the back with all your packages, overflow and totes. I've seen many drivers have different ways of being organized and what works for them. I have my way, and it is ever evolving, but I get my work done without exhausting myself. I think during peak is the only time I really truly hustle or on days where something has happened which put me way behind like when I got it in the EDV (electric delivery van) I was driving that day to make deliveries. LMAO. well, that's if you're a slow driver, slow rate of delivery. All the DSPs around here had an area change 1 week before Prime 2 and now I ma back in the suburbs of Houston. My lat shift was 155 stops, 291 packages. One stop had 21 packages lol. It's always fun to delivery to them, they are very friendly and have drinks outside for drivers, they make TH-cam videos, more professional than mine lol.
How do you know where to go?
Each driver has a device that we call the "rabbit", and it has all the information we will need for every stop and every package we have on the van. It also has maps and routing we can use and edit as we need to in order to be efficient.
As a Fedex courier, do you only delivery? who collects parcels from senders? other courier?
amazon doesnt really have pickups usually they send you to ups/usps here in usa
I just delivery, sometimes pickups at Amazon lockers. I delivery for Amazon not FedEx.
I average 200 stops per day it gets old!..... Good video though.
After this video out in the country, my DSP returned to the suburbs of Houston and we regularly averages 250 stops.

I recorded this during the heat wave when we had temps over 100 for 45 consecutive days. EOC was waived. the van will never cool off enough to get cold just from one stop to the next. So the air blows cold so I just point it on me and move on. Thanks for watching.

Well I have rural routes about 1/3 of the time. With rural routes you get a lot less stops and packages, but it still takes a while because of the very long drive out to the country and the distance between each stop. When I get more city routes, I'm full like you're probably used to seeing.
What’s it mean to rescue someone?
If a driver is behind, for whatever reason, and they are unlikely to complete their route on time, another driver will come and "rescue" some or all of the packages you have left, depending on the circumstances of why you need rescuing. ... well really, they rescue the packages, not the driver lol.In the most recent video I posted as of today, I was driving an EDV (Electric Delivery Van) and was hit. I had to wait over 6 hours for the police to arrive and do their report. There was no way I was getting my route done, so they sent 4 rescue drivers who each took 2 or 3 totes.

@@teddysworldinsane7382 You will go through 3 days of Amazon training in the classroom which will end with a driving road test in an Amazon van, either gas or electric. During that time you will learn basic Amazon policies, help active drivers during load out so that you learn how to load your own van, learn how to use the rabbit. After your 3 days, you are sent to your DSP who will do 2 more days of training out on the road on a real route with real packages and a trainer will be with you. Once you're done with that, you will start driving on your own, but you will have what is called "nursery routes", which means a very small route so that you can go slow and continue to learn and talk to your dispatcher and get more help from Driver Support. You will have small nursery routes for about a month. Once you're doing ok, they will slowly start increasing your loads and you will eventually get to normal size loads. A nursery route will have about 4 or 5 totes, 50-60 stops and maybe 100 packages. You will probably have that done within 5 hours easily. A full normal route can vary depending on where you are delivering to, my current loads have been averaging between 160 to 200 stops with up to 300 packages.

Depends on the DSP, each are different. Mine pays higher than most and we get bonuses. I feel like my DSP is good to us and is supportive. But I have heard of bad DSP's,, so it's important to ask around and compare DSPs.

HA, well after this video, I was moved to an even more rural route, I posted a video of it. But as of Oct 2023 we moved back into the suburbs and city and I'm driving the EDV most all of the time. How far out is your route from your station? In the 2nd video of my rural route after I was moved farther out, my stem time was 1 hour and 20 minutes just to get to my first stop. I can't decide which I like better, rural or suburbs and city. They both have good and bad. Anyhow, thanks for watching.
