Great idea to have them double down for another round and extend the length of the video, that way you don't know if they're going to get it or not in 10 based off the length of the video
For me the definition of an archetype is something that has at least 1 card of support naming that string of characters. So yeah, Ninja is absolutely one, there's many cards supporting "Ninja" monsters or "Ninja" cards. However, for Cimo's defense, the early Ninja cards really were just one-offs until a card like Ninjitsu Art of Transformation came around to group them. Can't really blame him for doing the mistake, and MBT just thought exactly the same so he still found the card. Fun fact: following that definition, Blue-Eyes only became an archetype around 2016. Every card prior to that listed Blue-Eyes White Dragon but not Blue-eyes monsters or Blue-eyes cards.
@@doubl2480 Sort of like a back-filled archetype instead of the ones MBT mentioned like Amazons or the Dark Scorpions; those were explicitly designed as archetypes within the set they were released in instead of being a bunch of loose cards that got tossed together at some point and called an archetype. :P
Kind of difficult though for other contestants unless cimo only uses semi to iconic cards. Like, I would love to see cimo reveal the card is mechanical dog maroon to a modern yugi tuber and they respond with "I've never seen this card in my life" but it would be more fair. Also forgetting the name of cards would be hell.
@@xatuyou8045 to be fair it was a 50/50 and there was pretty good reasoning for picking either so there’s more to it than “he just ended up getting it wrong 😠”. You’re probably just salty that you don’t have the opportunity to be on the channel or you’re just bitter in general
Not only did transformation come out just 3 months later, Fuhma Shuriken came out in the same set as strike ninja and is a back row that specifies "ninja" monsters. It is impossible to argue that they are not an archetype, even at the time of strike ninjas release. Even harder to argue when you throw in that they would technically consider the barrier statues an archetype
I think the best way to narrow down these random cards is to go for like "Can this card be banished for the summoning condition of Chaos Sorcerer/Frost and Flame Dragon" Narrows down 2 attributes that way when you're just shooting at the hip.
You also just ask if is a Dark or Light monster, or ask if a Water or Fire monster. I don't know if you gain addition information knowing if the monster can be banished for these monsters.
You can also ask if the monster’s attribute has an even or odd number of letters in its name. That will tell you whether it’s Fire/Dark/Wind or Water/Light/Earth.
No need to be so clever. You can literally just ask if the monster is either light, dark, fire or water attribute. Or any combination of attributes. Any question is fair game as long as the answer is yes or no.
@@Squidtoken While you are completely correct, I do feel like continuously inflating each question with additional 'or' conditions sort of breaks the spirit of the game. Cimo, that second card is part of an archetype. Even at the time it was printed, there were 4 other monsters with the same name scheme and 2 trap cards that target that name, specifically.
The sequencing of questions seems pretty important I think. For example you should first ask questions about what type of card is it, if it has more than x atk, if it has more than x def, if it's higher than x level so it should be easier to search it on dueling book.
MBT coming in and taking names. Not only is he the first to win withing 10 questions once but also twice. I also think he's the first one to so effectively narrow down the card pool within 10 questions without slashing out cards through assumptions.

Wow! I am amazed with MBT and also with Cimo. I never thought a card like that would be guessed based on one of the questions, but nevertheless, a wonderful episode! Thank you for the content. Can't wait for more.
Great episode, kept us engaged even though it was effectively a podcast format. However I think you need to put on the screen what MBT actually sees in dueling network so we can also see what cards are left and play along
This was really interesting. I was thinking "was it played in a meta deck" might have been good, especially in the second one with it being a non-archetype card considering most old yugioh decks were just a bunch of staples.
I think another fun inclusion to the rules should be allowing a Hail Mary at the start, before any questions are asked. Just letting the guest name ANY card for free that could "Literrally be anything" just sounds fun.
I know it wouldn't make for good TV, but I feel like the formula for this is just an easily flowchartable halving of the card pool which would be like 3-5 questions just narrowing down on original release year, a couple narrowing down on the set, then trying to go for a binary search within the set until you're down to like a 1-in-11 or so chance at it on your first guess, then if you get it wrong, keep going with a binary search until you're down to 4 or fewer cards and just start guessing.
The thing is when MBT asked about its Warrior and HEROes kinda give us clue how close this two gentleman right here. I mean, MBT really loves HERO archetype and he knew that Alex gonna pick one of them since that MBT fav

at the start of this he says the possabilities of the card are endless while explaining that there is a 1 in ten thousand chance you would guess the card without clues
Alex I think it would be really funny if you allowed the guest to guess the card without asking any questions for free. just like, at the beginning of the episode they're allowed one guess, one shot in the dark. clearly, it's like a 1 in 10,000 chance they get it right, but on the off chance that they DO, it would be funny as hell
At the point of time when Strike Ninja was released, there wasn't a Ninja archetype yet, as there wasn't a card yet that mentioned something like: "add 1 'Ninja' monster to your hand from your graveyard or deck" . There were cards like Red Ninja and Blue Ninja when yugioh was still new, but rather than being part of an archetype, they were just cards that were ninjas.
