Thanks for the video! As a member of the Airfield Operations Team, it is great to see Heathrow from the flight deck perspective. Some feedback on a few comments you make during the video: 13:50 - During early morning, Heathrow often has more arrivals than departures and therefore operates 'Tactically Enhanced Arrival Mode' (TEAM) where we can land up to 6 arriving aircraft on the departure runway. 14:20 - Heathrow requires 2 aircraft length of gap before using an uncontrolled crossing (as seen in the video) which is why the vehicles don't cross, despite your efforts to keep it clear. The location of SATUN and this crossing is not great and often the traffic can queue 10+ vehicles long when the hold is busy.
Thank you so much for watching the video and for the very detailed explanations! You answered all my questions, which came up during our departure from LHR! Also, I would like to thank you and your team for managing this huge amount of airplanes and ground vehicles and providing a safe operating environment for everyone. Have a great day!
I have a question on nobody has ever asked. Do airplanes or airlines have different characteristics when they takeoff and land? Like for example airfrance when it takes off and lands you don’t feel anything but Brussels airline it shows the wings too much if it wanted to go right or left in mid air you can heavily feel it making a right turn or left turn even the landing it unbelievable
For some people, this video is absolutely a boring one. But to me, it's a huge knowledge to learn! Not many airlines let their pilots to record many parts of their flight operations. Even if they allow it, not many pilots have the consistent desire to share it to the world. Thanks Capt., much appreciated!
All medium to large airports should adopt the "follow the green lights" system. It's a brilliant way to manage a busy airfield and ATC at Heathrow is fantastic - clear, without fuss and efficient.
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! I agree about the ATC crew. They are very very busy and work very hard providing a safe operation for all the planes who fly in and out of the airport!

Good morning Sir - fabulous footage from the flight deck. You'd be surprised at the sheer number of crews who don't roll straight away once cleared. First of all, I would like to thank you for the great job you and your colleagues do every day at LHR! There must be strong discipline and lots of planning involved to handle this huge amount of traffic. Congratulations for doing that safely every day! When we do the lineup at such a busy airport we know that we have to be ready for takeoff. My personal habit is that I usually ask the First Officer a moment before I expect the takeoff clearance if he is ready. This triggers another thought about the situation. Usually she or he is ready. She or he may also bring something up which we better check. For example weather on the radar which we can only check on the runway. Normally we do this during lineup. But sometimes it needs more than one short look. Amazing, thank you for the upload. I went some weeks ago to a fight simulator (just for fun) had one flight Memmingen > Zurich and another flight Munich to Salzburg (weather Zurich slightly cloudy +11°C, weather Salzburg fine, 13°C), and additional flight but just landing into London Gatwig. Wind by 4 kn and rainy weather. All these took one hour and I was compeltely tired, back in my home I went quickly to bed. ;) I wish you always happy and save flights.
The green lights are wonderful. That really helps on this big airport. You are right, extended waitingtime on the runway was due to the possible wakes of the heavy airplane ahead. Have a nice day!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos! It was interesting seeing the tug driver do his work too, looked like quite a long pushback! I thought the tug driver was a pilot on ATC for a second too as he was very well spoken!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thanks! I have just finished watching the whole video too. I've never seen what a queue from a busy airport looks like from the cockpit either; I see EGLL seem to have a smart taxi lighting system. Very interesting! Safe travels!
Greetings from New Zealand. An excellent, informative video from an airport I know well as a passenger. Great to see this perspective in real time. Look forward to more uploads. Thank you so much.
Excellent video, love seeing things from flight deck perspective as it helps me understand pilots viewpoints, especially as we are out and about on the field as Leader vehicles, great seeing the coordination all come together and a beautiful departure!
Richard here signing in under my wife's email - I am a nervous flyer but would be happy to fly with you guys anytime. So professional and confidence inspiring. Have a great New Year and keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching and your very personal feedback! There is no real reason to be nervous as a passenger in a modern airplane. Flying is less dangerous than driving a car. All the best to you!

Great video guys. Very interesting for airplane enthusiasts who are not pilots what the sequence and procedures are from the gate to takeoff. Excellent
For a reason I do not know, I have a fascination with planes altho have only flown 4 times in my whole life. This was a very interesting video, thank you for sharing so that we can all see the same view you pilots have. I think I would struggle listening to all the ATC messages & making sure I took in the info. I will certainly be watching more of your videos ✈
Thanks for watching and the good feedback! Nice to hear that you like the videos. Understanding the ATC messages is just a matter of time: If you hear it more often and longer, you will understand more. Have a great day!
I was stunned when I saw this video. I had never seen this before. The innovation that Heathrow Airport has introduced to their taxiway management is so amazing but at the same time so simple. Installing small lights along the centre line of each taxiway and red lights across taxiways makes it so simple for the pilot of a plane to navigate to the runway or parking space that is required of him. Simple instruction from the tower: "Follow the Green" and (unsaid) stop at the red makes taxiing a jetliner so easy. Mind you, this doesn't eliminate the necessity for pilots to be familiar with the airports they are using but it reduces the chance of error and anything that fulfills that is beneficial, in my humble opinion. How long before such taxiway management becomes mandatory at all airports?
Thank you so much for watching and for your very detailed feedback! I agree, the lighted guidance system is a very big help for a safe operation on the ground. This does not eliminate the need to be familiar with the airport and to check and brief the expected taxi routing before the arrival. We still have to have our ground charts ready and navigate in addition with the charts. I hope that similar systems will be available soon at additional airports.
Congrats for hitting the YT algorithm with this video capt! Really appreciative for these videos, a lot of insights to observe and get a better understanding of.
I love to hear that! This is one of the reasons why I make the videos. I would like to show what we do and hope that people with a fear of flying get a better understanding what we do in the cockpit and how we do the things in the cockpit to provide a safe flight for everybody on board. I wish you always nice and relaxed flights! Have a great day!
6:17, so the ATC directed the pilots to follow the greenlight on the taxi line? I thought taxiway greenlight is just static for night but it works for direction too!
This is a very special feature at LHR. The green lights guide you to and from the runway to the parking position. They are individually switched for each airplane.
Very nice video👍🏻. I want to become a pilot aswell and watching all of your videos really helps me learning new stuff. So I want to thank you for that Captain. Greets from Berlin👋🏻👋🏻
What does ATC mean by follow the greens , and whats the SATUN? And wgat does flaps 1+F mean, thought the airbus had just flaps 1,2,3 and full. Great video by the way, love the details
Thanks for your good feedback and your questions! Follow the greens means that the airplane shall follow the illuminated green lights in the taxiway. SATUN is a name for a holding position which is marked at the taxiway and published on the airport charts / map. Flaps 1 are just slats and no flaps. Flaps 1+F means that the slats are extended to the first notch and the flaps are also extended to the first notch.
We thought that we keep some good distance from the street to allow them to cross from both directions. But in between, I have learned that this was not good enough to open the gates for the car traffic.
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, this is one reason for the production of the videos. I would like to show other pilots what to expect when flying to and from certain airports.
Loved seeing Concord parked there, Used to like watching that every day heading to Heathrow. wow didn't see that low cloud until you left the ground!!! that must be scary!
This was an interesting morning. During our takeoff, they still had low visibility procedures in progress due to the low ceiling. The good thing is that above the first cloud layer the weather was really nice. Have a good day!
Absolutely awesome watching this,i feel like that i am in that flight deck.,interesting to see the procedure that is required by pilots re taxing & take-off.✈
Thanks for the friendly words and the very helpful feedback! My goal is to create videos that give the viewer the same impression like being with us on the flight deck. Have a great day!
Amazing how you remember the Taxiways and so on. I would forget it :D. And also i would not understand the ATC, but i think you have better Headsets. Amazing Videos! Thank you for sharing :).
Thanks for watching and for your feedback! We have very detailed taxi charts on our tablet computers which are located near the right and left window. Also we type into the MCDU scratchpad as a reminder what ATC tells us. The audio in the video is the same like what we hear in our headsets. For us it is not difficult to understand because we know what to expect. Also we are very familiar with the "aviation language". Have a great day!
I once flew from ARN to GRU, via AMS and LHR. From ARN we landed at AMS. From AMS the next stop was LHR, and of course our flight from AMS to LHR was from 36L. A runway as far from the civilisation as possible on Schiphol. We were probably taxiing longer than the actual flight (excluded climb and descent). 😊
Thanks for sharing your personal travel experience! I agree, sometimes the total taxi time is longer than the flight time. Especially on airports like AMS, LHR ... Have a nice day!

Just started with the MSFS sim this week and was wondering how do pilots know which taxi lines to follow. I was using easy mode so a big blue arrow would show. This video just showed me how the taxi lines are lit up and the follow the green was a aha moment. Was fun to watch. Would like to know if there are different colors when there are more planes ?
Thanks for watching and your question. In London these lights can only be green. They tell you to "follow the green". No other colors are available, even with more planes.

Thanks for watching and your personal feedback! Nice to hear that the videos help you for your pilot training. All the best to you! Have a nice day!
Thanks for watching, for sharing your personal simulator experience and your good feedback! I wish you a nice week!
Fantastic video, your channel is a gem! Always love the Heathrow vids especially, such a busy airport and impressive ATC
Thanks for watching and the great feedback! All the best to you!
Love the green lights for taxi. That makes life a bit easier. Long wait after the Virgin departure. I assume because it's a heavy?
The green lights are wonderful. That really helps on this big airport. You are right, extended waitingtime on the runway was due to the possible wakes of the heavy airplane ahead. Have a nice day!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos! It was interesting seeing the tug driver do his work too, looked like quite a long pushback! I thought the tug driver was a pilot on ATC for a second too as he was very well spoken!
Thanks for watching and the detailed feedback! I completely agree! Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thanks! I have just finished watching the whole video too. I've never seen what a queue from a busy airport looks like from the cockpit either; I see EGLL seem to have a smart taxi lighting system. Very interesting! Safe travels!
LOVE THE VIDEO!! It’s amazing to see how busy London is, and the long taxi to the runway..
It's great to hear that you like the video! Have a nice day!
I’m watching that video to help me playing on MSFS with my friends in shared cockpit mode and as realistic as possible and it helps a lot thanks !
Thanks for watching and for your interesting feedback! I wish you lots of fun with your simulator!
Thank you for the video!
It was great to see a departure with some traffic. It was also interesting to listen the ATC. :)
Thanks for watching and your friendly feedback! Have a nice day!
For someone who hates flying, I find this oddly very relaxing.
Thanks for watching and your very personal feedback! I wish you all the best and very relaxing future flights!
Thanks for keeping the video running. Really enjoyed this one. Brought back some long ago memories. Keep them coming please.
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! Have a nice day!
Greetings from New Zealand. An excellent, informative video from an airport I know well as a passenger. Great to see this perspective in real time. Look forward to more uploads. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! All my best wishes to New Zealand!
Excellent video, love seeing things from flight deck perspective as it helps me understand pilots viewpoints, especially as we are out and about on the field as Leader vehicles, great seeing the coordination all come together and a beautiful departure!
Thank you very much for your hard work on the ground and for sharing your very personal feedback! I hope to see you soon in London! Have a nice day!
Brilliant Video, brilliant view of everything that happens in the cockpit for take off would be even better to view a full flight from this view .
It's great to hear that you like the video! I will keep the full flight suggestion in mind. In general, it would be possible but it is technically not as easy as you may think. Please stay tuned and have a nice day!
Lovely video as always thank you. The clarity of the PDF and ND keeps getting better after each video!
Thanks. It is not that easy with good images of the PFD/ND. The medium intensity outside light on the cloudy day helped a lot. Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos the only solution is probably to mount the camera under the FCU but that wouldn't be safe as it would block your view. In any case, the production quality and effort you put in making these videos is phenomenal and I have no doubt your subscriber base will keep growing significantly. Safe Flying!
great video massive aviation fan and never realised the lighting for taxi is smart. I can imagine it makes things alot easier
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I agree, this is a very unique system which make things easier and safer. Have a nice day!
Mega 👍👍 great that you did not cut the waiting time - I did enjoy every moment, 100% real and close - CONTINUE 😅
Thanks for watching and the good and detailed feedback! That really helps! Have a wonderful day!
Blessed to be as you were and will be. Loved this. Peace on Earth.
Thanks for watching! Have a great day!
Just found your channel it's fantastic very interesting with the pilot and traffic control at Heathrow airport class videos 👍
Thanks for watching and for sharing your great feedback! Please tell everybody who likes aviation about my channel and the videos! Thanks in advance! Have a nice day!
Love those taxiway lights acting like stop and go signals.
This “follow the greens” light system at Heathrow airport is wonderful and enhances flight safety.
I spend so many hours taxiing around in LHR and you gave it a special view from the cockpit …..for once i could enjoy the „wasted“ time on the ground in LHR
Marcus, thanks for watching and your very personal feedback! Have a nice day!
Really enjoyed the video, the multiple camera's gave an excellent all round view of whats going on up front. Keep up the great content. Subscribed also!
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing, and the great feedback! Have a nice day!
Great video guys. Very interesting for airplane enthusiasts who are not pilots what the sequence and procedures are from the gate to takeoff. Excellent
Thanks for watching and the good feedback! Have a nice day
Is it just me or does anyone else find this video oddly soothing?
Thanks for watching my videos! Have a great day and lots of fun with more videos to come!
Nit gonna lie one of my fav video of aviation.
Simply not much cutting in editing and clear ATC 👏🏻 Love this.
Can't wait to watch ur other vids of u
Thanks for watching and the useful feedback! Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos ma pleasure.
Been wondering such video without cutting out long wait and clear ATC, now found here 😉
Great to see the concorde supersonic 👁️🔥
I agree!
Another great upload. And thanks for not editing out the wait. Very immersive. :)
Thanks for watching and the helpful feedback! Have a nice day!
Good Aviation Video at London Heathrow Airport UK. 🥰🥰😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for watching and the nice feedback!
Are there any other airports you know of which have adopted this kind of system? Or is it unique to Heathrow?
Congrats for hitting the YT algorithm with this video capt!
Really appreciative for these videos, a lot of insights to observe and get a better understanding of.
Thanks for watching and for your good feedback! Great to hear that you like the videos! Have a nice day!
I like videos like this very much, we can see different views and the displays (PFD/ND)! Good job!
Thanks for watching and the great feedback! That really helps! Have a nice day!
Videos like this got me over the fear of flying ❤
I love to hear that! This is one of the reasons why I make the videos. I would like to show what we do and hope that people with a fear of flying get a better understanding what we do in the cockpit and how we do the things in the cockpit to provide a safe flight for everybody on board. I wish you always nice and relaxed flights! Have a great day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos well thank you so much
6:17, so the ATC directed the pilots to follow the greenlight on the taxi line? I thought taxiway greenlight is just static for night but it works for direction too!
This is a very special feature at LHR. The green lights guide you to and from the runway to the parking position. They are individually switched for each airplane.
That was awesome , I never knew it takes so so so much work and communication fantastic love love love it . More pls
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts! Have a great day!
This is super! Would love to see a video from before start up checklist. Best Airbus pilot channel for sure. 😊
Thanks for watching and your feedback! That really helps! I keep your suggestion in mind. Have a nice day!
Very nice video👍🏻. I want to become a pilot aswell and watching all of your videos really helps me learning new stuff. So I want to thank you for that Captain. Greets from Berlin👋🏻👋🏻
Thanks for your good feedback! It's great to hear that you want to become a pilot! I hope to see you soon in the cockpit! Many greetings to Berlin!
Great Video! Would love to see more Taxi and Takeoff Videos!
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, there will be more taxi and takeoff videos. The next one is planned for Saturday morning. Have a good day!
A fantastic video showing all the instruments, really useful for extra insight when I fly the A320 on Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Thanks for watching and the good feedback! Have a great day!
Huge respect for everyone including the pilot and captain. Really impressive stuff and you make it look easy but I know it is not!
Thanks for watching and for your good feedback! Have a great day!
those green lights are lit
Yes, they are.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos oh I see, thanks a lot, hope to see more videos, new subscriber here, loving them😃
Excellent, really got to see what it's like in a cockpit !
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Have a nice day!
Thanks for watching and the friendly, detailed feedback! Greetings to Spain!
11:23 - " So I stay here in front of the street ..." 😂😂. So thoughtful for the vehicles crossing.
We thought that we keep some good distance from the street to allow them to cross from both directions. But in between, I have learned that this was not good enough to open the gates for the car traffic.
Good practice for pilot who is not familiar with such an airport , comm ,atc instruction
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, this is one reason for the production of the videos. I would like to show other pilots what to expect when flying to and from certain airports.
Brilliant video. Thankful for the amount of effort put into these. keep it up
Many thanks for watching and your great feedback! Have a good day!
Have a good day!
nice to see a departure. and then this "traffic jam" at LHR :D
great video. really love your content.
Thanks a lot for watching and your feedback! Have a nice day!
Love the middle finger at 11:46😭😭😂😂
Great vid btw
Thanks for watching!
Was für ein Traffic 😅 Sehr cool!

Perfection!!! The multiple cameras are excellent!!!!
Thanks for the great feedback! Have a good day!
Such a great video - thank you so much for sharing.
I'm no pilot, and rarely fly - but it's fascinating to see.
Thanks for watching and the great feedback! Good to hear that you like my video! Have a nice day!
Do you have a patron option for the thank you option regarding donations?.
That was SUPERinteresting 🤩 Thanks for sharing the video. ✈️
Thanks for watching and for your great feedback! Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Ah makes sense. Thanks for the explanation :)
Thak you for satisfying us.... This is the best camera angels
Thanks for watching and your helpful feedback!
