This one of my favorite pieces by Alma ….there’s something so lyrically mature and rich in its unfolding. I’m incredibly grateful to live in a world where the manifest desire for beauty and balance washes away whatever griefs and disappointments time has brought. Thank you❤️
Being in lockdown in Sydney Australia and listening to your music, always brings me joy and for a moment takes me away from all the uncertainty that the world is facing and as always your music is a pleasure to listen to, thank you Alma 😊
@@infinitefretboard The thing I wonder about is she never has spoken about Chopin and so I have to wonder if he was ever an influence on her. Did she just happen to sound like him by drawing on the same sources that influenced him?
@@Robbie.Dunbar In the second movements of her pianoconcerto there are some Chopin like passages, so it’s obvious she has been exposed to Chopin. Lovely use of mediants at the end of this chase ❤

Way to go, Alma! I can tell from the wardrobe, piano, room, etc., this was done at the same time as the Spring Sonata performance. Somehow this performance seemed to have better and wider dynamic range than the WQXR recording in NY. Maybe you're just more used to it now. Bravo and thank you, as always. Another classic! glad I got the CD. Who decides what is "fashionable" and who cares? Good music is timeless to those who appreciate it. Beauty is they say, in the eye (and ear) of the beholder.
Wonderful music, though I find the title a bit odd; I never get any sense of a chase so much as a leisurely stroll (or perhaps a jog) through a scenic park or pathway. Still - it sounds very much like Alma, and I’ve come to like her style!
I could see this as a chase between two lovers, with the familiar yet new sound. It reminds me of a hopelessly romantic whirlwind.The swirling sections and the contrasting Staccato interruptions
@@Quotenwagnerianer I agree, this chase is one of pauses, slow sometimes, then round and round, like two children or chipmunks having fun on a sunny day.
Mary Poppins. Surprised? I am not so dull my dear Alma. It is a fantasy… obviously it could be about a boy and a girl…the sun of righteousness… innocent love and flirting… a fantasy only in your mind about that secret crush… far too timid and proper he has no idea… and the idea only exists in your mind. You are not only rational.. also very creative. I am really starting to get into your thoughts and mind… it is awesome to have a real live Mozart and the ability to ( forgive me) try to understand how genius thinks… particularly the mind of a proper young anglo-Saxon woman, whom I believe without question is still a very beautiful maiden. SMART and a maiden in 2021… I am so happy and this will be the first time I say this PROUD!

Her soul belongs to the first Romanticism, with Beethoven , Chopin and Liszt (with another part in the end of the century with Vienna composers...) She is living in the wrong time...
@@Nonconform14 Many composers of that time composed pieces only to show off, full of scales and vacuous technical difficulties... and Liszt was one of them (despite of his quality as a composer). Outstanding musicianship by Alma Duetscher!
A fabulous young woman who will be the foremost composer of her generation!
That's what I predict too. She's going to be the "Mozart" of our time, but thankfully without his character defects. She's a rising star, for sure.
@markgrant3653 I understand that.

A chase is not necesarily fast. You can sneakily chase someone, like a shadow. That's what I get from this.
I must agree. The Scherzo in Mendelssohn's Bb Sonata (2nd mov't) is much more definitively a CHASE!
