    I have timing belt and the tensioner pully on the way. Thanks for letting us all know that we do not have to remove that big bolt on the harmonic balancer pully!!! I would have done the same thing but now I know better for next week when all the new parts on front of the engine are going in, including a new water pump, thermostat, radiator and fan / power steering belts. Thanks for the very informative video. Gonna watch it again next week when all the parts come in and right before the timing belt replacement goes on.

    As a younger man, "Cool" was most important, acceptance to a group ect...but as an older person my priorities changed...now I just want to have fun. I could give a shit about cool or "hey look at me BS." Trackers, Sidekicks or Vitara's are simply put, FUN. I understand, I have a few cars and trucks...even a shiny Big Rig I use for lawn art,...but now I have 6 Trackers/sidekicks and prefer driving them or tinkering with them the most...cuz they are fun. Thanks Glenn

      I have the red 4 door that I bought last year for $500.00, drive it every day, love it every day, took it on a winter vacation in January, it's the perfect rig for me. I never take the trailer off of the black one, I am constantly hauling something with it. It's a perfect pair!

    I've watched a few videos of this swap. All of them so far have changed the timing belt WITHOUT changing the pulleys. I've always thought that needed to be done together.

      I just changed the tensioner pulley, the cam and crank pulled are steel, the rubber belt does not cause wear to the steel pulling, they should last forever. They are likely hard to find...

      @@GlennsSpeedShop Rockauto has a complete set including water pump. Most other vehicles (even Goldwings) state to change pulleys and belts at the same time. But for the Tracker, nobody does it.

      It's a niche...but yes, very popular, almost a cult-like following.

    How do u add and take away tension to the alternator

    • @GlennsSpeedShop
      @GlennsSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just loosen all the bolts and use a large screw driver or small pry bar to tension it.

    Where do you find your parts.

      Join the Tracker / Sidekick Groups Page on Facebook. There are a few people with parts, wrecking yards if you will.

      I was going to leave a comment but this is a old post. I have a 97 sidekick 1.6 liter and 16 valve.
      I had a mechanic do the same work. You guys ever hear of a woodrift pin? At the end of your crank shaft is a slot for this pin an on your belt pulley is another slot for the upper part of this woodrift pin.
      When you torque the nut down on the crank case this mechanic told me that a lot of guys only torque that nut down to about 86 foot pounds but if you go to a auto mechanic and look in there shop manual it says to torque down to 98 foot pounds. If it’s not torqued to specs it will rub thru your plastic timing cover. If you talk to a mechanic ask them what a woodriff key or woodrifff pin ask them what it does.
