you have to be kidding me, I messed around with this timing on No# 1 cyclinder for ever, put the tracker away for a year getting ready to hit it again. Thanks for the info
By far the best Tracker timing belt video, line up easy to find timing marks makes for fool proof perfection. The spark plug method is for using mechanical knowledge for those who don't know they have timing marks and also very hard to be accurate. Creepycrawler has done this 5 times and it's so much better than someone who's doing it for their first time, like so many other videos on here. My bigger question is this an interference engine or one that will become destroyed if the belt breaks, or can it break and get replaced without issues? Thanks for having the best video on here Creepy.
Ka3Ty thank you it means a lot I’m glad it helped you. The 8 valve is non interference and the 16valve I’m pretty certain is non interference as well. But I can’t say for certain
Ah, very good to know, Thanks Creekycrawler, if there ever is a next to replace the timing belt, it'll be when this gates one I just put on breaks. I've had this what appears to be about 7mm hose that at the bottom plugs into the front on the transfer case and the top has always been unconnected, does that plug into the bottom of the vacuum or I guess it's called a vapor charcoal canister? I felt under it and it seems to have a place for it under there? Thanks and yes your video is very helpful.

I noticed that 6 of the 8 rocker arm bolts are missing, and it looks like some of the valve lash screws are run all of the way out. Was this a running engine, or just one you used for instructional purposes? Also, I believe the proper procedure for tensioning the timing belt is to back all of the valve lash adjusters out to where they don't engage the valves while you tension the timing belt.
Nicolas Sebastian Sarno Valenzuela possible they will run with the belt a tooth or two off. They are underpowered even when everything is working right though
Do you have a video replacing the cam shaft and crank seals? I'm fixin to do a water pump and TB job on a 93 tracker RWD and I think the seals may be leaking based on location of oil leaks. Also is that the best way to do timing before installing belt. I saw a video where they stuck a screw driver in spark plug hole and watched for it to come to TDC. Your method seems much much easier. Thanks...good video.
TheAugiedoggie1 Thanks, Ive done 5 just Like I have it in the video, I dont like putting screw drivers where spark plugs go. besides you dont need to if you line up the marks, its top dead center every time.
Hey there I have a bit of a strange question. My 91 g16a has a rebuilt motor, was rebuilt before I bought it. It's an 8v carby. I've gone to the timing and run into a bunch of strange issues, it seems to be half g16a and half g16b timing gear in there. I'm hoping to just replace the timing with all g16a parts, and I was wondering if you'd be able to tell me if your tensioner pulley was metal or a hard nylon type of plastic? I just can't tell from the video and it would be really helpful to know! Thanks so much!
number 4 cylinder is one on the distributor ,correct ? so across on distributor from one should be four which goes to number one cylinder...where do you point the distributor? thanks we replaced plugs and wires and it won't run. it was running fine .have any idea? thanks
very similar, 16v have multiple marks on the cam cog though, I forget which one you use, google acks faq. he has a awesome page dedicated to trackers/sidekicks and has a great written walk through. other than the cam timing mark every thing else is the same

Gregg Cavagnaro any luck?
F’ing wow OMG THANK YOU FOR step-by-step for damn spring! Now I just need to understand both rubber seals in timing belt tensioner kit
Andrew Ford glad it helped you
Excellent! Good camera work and clear narrative.
blt80513 thank you
blt80513 thank you
Very helpful video!
Thank you so much.
Hello from Mexico
On a brighter note, the cam timing is effing perfect
Hey i really appreciate you making this video it helped me out a lot.
Robert Baker no problem man glad it helped ya out. Thanks for the comment they really help out my channel
Greetings from Mexico. This helped. Thanks.
Thanks, glad I could help

Ka3Ty I’m not really sure where that goes I’ll look on mine sometime

Awesome video! Liked and subscribed! Good luck!!
Great video, thanks for the info on the timing belt. And I learned something about that number four cyl.
D Rat Thanks, Im glad you liked it. Share it around if you know anyone else that might find it helpful!

This was a running engine, actually I’m still running it. I set the valve lash after I did this video
Nice video bro, my geo tracker 1993 4x4 has no strength in the climbs but the engine sounds good, can it be the time belt?
Nicolas Sebastian Sarno Valenzuela possible they will run with the belt a tooth or two off. They are underpowered even when everything is working right though
Thanks. Great tutorial.
Yes si tenemos que aprender es importante
Hey this video was very helpful. Are you a tracker fan?
Thanks, I am a tracker fan, But Im a bigger samurai fan, thats actually what this motor is in lol
Is thier any other way to check piston number 4

It’s been a very long time since I made this video, so don’t put to much stock in what I say but I think it was nylon
What's the part number for the timing belt cover
Hi, do you use metric or SAE wrenches?
MIGUEL ANGEL HERNANDEZ metric
How'd you line up the punch-mark-looking thing?
spidey1170 rotate it with a wrench on the bolt clockwise
Is this the 1.6L that is standard even to 97? Is this an interference motor?
number 4 cylinder is one on the distributor ,correct ? so across on distributor from one should be four which goes to number one cylinder...where do you point the distributor? thanks we replaced plugs and wires and it won't run. it was running fine .have any idea? thanks
No, number 4 cylinder is 4 on the distributor
Is this about the same as a 95 Suzuki Sidekick 16v?
very similar, 16v have multiple marks on the cam cog though, I forget which one you use, google acks faq. he has a awesome page dedicated to trackers/sidekicks and has a great written walk through. other than the cam timing mark every thing else is the same
just about put a round in the chamber.. Number 4 cylinder info was crucial.
+tree18is Lol I found it out the hard way, glad you didnt have to :)
my sidekick keeps squealing and smells like ruber wjen i drive ahoukd i change thebelt?
