Louie Kim I thought it was incredible!! Everyone was amazing, they all had chemistry with each other. Those fight scenes were great, you can tell they really worked hard on them. I’ve watched it a few times already, it has to be a part 2!

The fighting sequence in Atomic Blonde is my favorite fighting scene, and my favorite movie watch once a month.
This movie was immeasurably better than any marvel movie. I wish more movies about "super heroes" like this existed.
I love the movie! The character “Andy” somehow empowers me as a woman. I love that the movie shows her mood, strength and weakness. I watched it alone and I was like “woah! She’s badass!!!”

Ms Theron is a wonderful actress and talent. The Old Guard is outstanding and it stays true to the source material plus their own creative contributions! It really is excellent. That being said I would have to disagree with the opinion about representation! Representation is a weak idea without any longevity as ideas go Merit on the otherhand. Merit is eternal and the acknowledgement of merit is the real trick! Merit is loved and enduring!
I think letting the story guide the characters is important and everyone involed needs to be there because of merit. Not for a paycheck and certainly not for representation. IT is fake, it is forced and it is often arrogance masked as morality. Merit on the otherhand is universal ! If the story requires a character to be a certain way then that is great. Let the right man or woman win the part !!!!!
Your claim of merit only works in a perfect world that doesn’t have racism and sexism. And as we do not live in a perfect world without racism and sexism, you cannot use the claim of “merit” to shut out representation when the system literally has not been merit based at all, or else there would already be more women and people of color and LGBTQ people involved in all aspects of filmmaking. The fact that people have to point out representation is the clear sign that bigotry and prejudice has rigged the system in a way that doesn’t allow for the acknowledgement of true merit.
How can a woman prove her merit when she is not held to the same standards as the men around her? How can a person of color prove their merit when they are not held to the same standard as a white person?
Your claim of merit is a naive dream, many people working in the industry today never got there by merit, they all had some level of connections within the industry. And so many of those doors are closed for minorities who are not represented in stories or behind the scenes.
