Thanks. I've done this on a lawn mower. I guessed that the procedure is pretty much the same. Thank you for taking the time to make the video I have not done this procedure on a weedeater yet. Thanks.
Thank-you for making this video! Big help....my recoil broke the second time I used it...the machine has never been used before ....but unfortunately it was brand new 10 years ago, so the repair falls on me, not Weed Eater. It's been sitting unused in my father's garage for a decade now. LOL
Did as the video instructs and my weed-eater works perfectly again - only advice is not to tighten the two retaining screws for the plastic pull cord string wheel too tight or it wont spin. Great video Adam and big thanks!!!!
In my experience (I fixed a slightly different model, but by the same brand so this may or may not be correct) if the spring container and string coil are sitting properly in place, the retaining screws should be able to be tightened down completely without impeding the spinning of the coil. In my first attempt, they weren’t sitting properly but I didn’t realize it and it caused me to essentially have to redo the whole repair after I’d reassembled everything.
Hi. I just got a hold of one not running and fixed it up to make it run. But I think these models dont have clutches which means its always spinning, right?
My coil broke this morning and before I opened it up to see what was broke I was going to order a new part. I just happened upon this video and was like "Heck, I can do that". Took me about 10-15 minutes to fix it. Thanks for the instructional video.
Hey man I went through two feather lights string trimmers in one year before because my yard is so big that I burn out a feather light because I run them like I apposed to for 25cc
Thanks, after three hours of "playing" last night, this video helps. I was putting the plate in backwards. When I took it apart, everything sort of blew out.
YOU have the patience of a saint. I can tell you right now that you are a better man than I. I just bought that model and I'm not crazy about it. The pull starter feels very strange and the head mech is a double string which a bit much. I think it's going back. Do you still have yours and are you happy with it?
I really liked your video on repairing the pull string. My pull string recoils like it should but it does not catch something so it will start. The string just pulls out and recoils. I have a new spark plug and gas. What can I do to fix this or do I have to take it to a professional?
How do you finish the reassembly and get the white plastic pull start to "grab" the flywheel again? I put mine back together and it was just slipping past at first and now it "grabs" but feels way too tight. Do I need to somehow lift those springs on the flywheel as I put it together?
I have a problem on mine where the pull cord is EXTREMELY stiff and difficult to pull. It gets slightly easier with each pull and when it does manage to start TONS of white smoke comes out. What could be the problem?
Just had this issue as of yesterday, glad I might actually be able to fix it. Also, people are just leaving malfunctioning lawn equipment on the sides of roads now? At least you get a free weed eater.

It's called an Allan Wrench. You buy them by the set (several sizes) you can get a set anywhere for cheap. Basic tool. I'm sure Walmart sells them.

@@hardcorehooksets5825 damn time flies i didnt even notice that 😂
Now if only I can figure out why the string assembly sticks out so far that the two clips grind against it and hold it in place.
Thanks bud .
Thanks! Found a weed eater on the side of the road, and this was the only issue.
