Those Amalgamated Car Park lifts look really nice - I love those funky indicators with the zooming numbers, and they seem pretty efficient too. They are proof of what I have been saying for years, which is that "Generic" doesn't have to mean bad or boring. Any lift can be cool and interesting! I remember childhood visits to this shopping centre with my Grandparents many times (before I was interested in lifts). This is the one shopping centre from my childhood I've not been back to on my return visits to the UK (I've lived in New Zealand since 2007).
Love the doors on the first lift
I would guess original to the lift. Thanks for watching
The Torrington lifts were originally the rare 'Becker' company. Becker were a very small lift company, they made lifts in the 1970s. They were taken over by Otis I know as used to love riding these many years ago as each on characteristic.. Becker built a few car park hydraulics, all highly unreliable but great for faults. They all had a famous squeak sound which you can just about hear at the end of the video. The larger lifts which disappointingly are now not in use could hear squeaks every floor So glad at least the two car park-only lifts are still there and going to make a visit.
I suspect they cost to much to maintain with all the faults. Originally Morrisons or Safeway have based in this store hence the very large three lifts there.
Interesting that they used green buttons for up and red for down. Good video
Often thats how they display the directions of lifts on other lift parts too
@@Morgansliftadventures I know its just not very common to do that with buttons
The Boots lift looks like it was originally a Furse
The algamated car park lifts are mods. Those are KONE doors.
@@liftsurfer52 Stentorgate do not make a controller
@@liftsurfer52
My guess is that they always had ILE after the original TMS controller
Some interesting lifts here! Loving the ADO on the M&S lift and very efficient car park lifts - shame that only one of the 2 lifts were working. Any ideas why they've covered up the lifts in the shop?
@English Lift Enthusiast I was here a year ago to. They did have barriers but only ever 1 lift working probably had a major fault and all “abandoned” for now. See th-cam.com/video/RBxNnbPWc90/w-d-xo.html
@Michal M Probably maintenance only one was working last visit. M&S lift was a strange one door hold takes it out of service for 5 seconds. As always thanks for watching
@@TheUKTransportBlogger Very interesting.
R.I.P to the TMS lifts in the carpark ):
They Are Modernizatiod By Amalgamated Lifts
0:08 the lift said the date was Saturday 6th of September 2008
Are the Torrington (range) car park lifts hydraulic?
lift out of service on door hold? In M&S Btw
Yeah odd feature I’d say probably a minor glitch.
10:30 looks like an temple lift
Is the first lift running a Thysenkrupp motor?
Otis with a VF mod most likely. Doesn’t sound anything like TK
3:46 is dangerous because it's pre doors and going up
That is not a pre-door, not even close to one.
