Growing up as a wings fan in the 80s and 90s, all I ever wanted to be, was this man. He always amazed with his skill, but for me what made me idolize him, was his amazing threshold for pain, and what he would he would put his body through for his teammates. He was a true leader, in every sense if the word.

He bought into Bowman & the rest of the team followed. He could've put up more points, but he sacrificed numbers for success. One of the best captains I've seen, led by example, had the grit & heart.

A true superstar. One of the best to ever play. I was so depressed when he retired. He probably could have played another three years if not for his knee injuries.

Same here. Favorite player since I was a kid........ favorite player til I die. My opinion of Yzerman being the most complete player will never change. Great video sir.

As a Penguins fan, I saw just about as much of Yzerman as I cared to over the years.
He was absolutely one of the best 200-foot players I've ever seen. You know, you could adapt the old baseball joke....70% of the Earth is covered by water.....the rest by Steve Yzerman.

You need to get rid of the computer voice reading your stories. There were so many misspoken words that I was laughing half way through it.

I went to a game at LCA this season (24-25) for the first time in a while and have a 90's era CCM Yzerman jersey. I thought it might be a little weird wearing the jersey of a retired player (current GM of da Wings though) but I am pretty sure more than half of the jerseys I saw in the arena were #19 and, on top of that, they were still selling Yzerman jerseys there in the current design which I am pretty sure he never game wore. Stevie Y is a legend, if not revered as a deity, in the metro Detroit area.
