      There’s nothing democratic about Botswana and their leaders. Botswana government is nothing but a puppet of imperialist USA. It’s the only country in SADC if not Africa with USA army base in its country. Also, Botswana army killed Namibians who were in the Chobe river for absolutely no reason.

      How can our Kgosi be anything else? His mission in life as the defender of his people is just that to defend, lead, protect, provide and represent. As a Motswana, he understands what democracy is. Its not about the ballot. Its about the King liasing with his people and bringing all to the seat at the table to deal with problems and come up with solutions.

    This puts into perspective the current embargo by the Botswana Government of certain fruits and vegetables from South Africa.
    As a Zimbabwean, I really hope that people like Mokgweetsi Masisi will not succeed in unravelling the few democratic and free countries that we have on our continent. This is just a small taste of how it starts. I hope that South Africa won't bend to Masisi and I hope that all the democracies in Africa will support Botswana at this critical stage. From just watching this interview, Botswana is in serious danger. And if anyone thinks that it's merely a Botswana issue that only affects Botswana, you'd be mistaken. Corrupt and Undemocratic regimes often have an infectious effect on their neighbours. Trust me, you do not want to be surrounded by regimes that are corrupt and undemocratic when your country is free and democratic.

    • @odiancreek
      @odiancreek 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You clearly have no idea about Botswana. The Khama family and the tribe which they are from were the puppet leaders of Botswana allied to the whites and they oppressed other people they now this idea that they could control Botswana and it’s resources for their own benefit. Masisi is on the way of that.

The only unsettling thing is this personal war he and the president have. And it's not because we on his side. We just don't want to be caught up on things we don't know. Because really we don't know why they fighting. What they promised each other is btwn the two of them. The political influence he speaks of is in one very small part of the country. And it's because his family are chiefs there. Otherwise we don't take him and his party too seriously. So how is a threat. Yes we need a stronger opposition in the country. An alternative. Yes he is expecting special treatment, he should know better than having unlicensed weapons, the mere suggestion that the government must come to him to discuss his possible possetion of unlicensed firearms is a clear indication of expecting special treatment, possession of unlicensed firearms is a crime, any ordinary citizen would be in jail for such things. and if his weapons are licensed then he must come to court and provide proof that his firearms are legal.

    SKI sounds believable on this clip, but if you listen careful he makes a reference to his father forming the BDP , and his previlages on that regard. He and Masisi had a plan for his brother Tshekedi to be appointed the vice president after Masisi became president. He also wanted Masisi to allow him to fly BDF planes after retirement which was against the constitution. He also expected that his corruption under DIS boss Kgosi will be covered as well. According to their arrengement he was to continue campaigning for the BDP as a pay back for the benefits. They went on to change the constitution to allow the ex - president SKI to continue working after retirement, which lead to him SKI forming a PARTY after his promises were not fullfilled by his excellence Masisi just before elections. This lead to a rift that we see today. It is all politics and the failed strategies and relationships between the two in achieving what one can call a master plan or the BDP and the Khamas rule and power. It has now become a mouse and cat game, but the whole saga is going to cost the republic governance.

    The way President Masisi is going about this, he might just want to be in office for a loooooong time. He will not want a situation where he'll be treated the way he treats his predecessor. How else other than clinging to office will he do that? Will he put in place a loyalist for a successor? I don't think so. The Angola situation proves it to be a bad idea. He will do a M7 or a Mugabe.
    He must know that Khama has the hearts of a significant constituency. He cannot exert force on his own citizens just to get his way. Let him make peace with his adversaries soonest possible.

    • @sholoamosmatale1012
      @sholoamosmatale1012 ปีที่แล้ว

      Masisi is trying his best to restore the dignity of this country from its previous status as a pariah state. All he needs to do now is to try and get the views of genuine genuine opposition political leaders to draw a general direction in which to drive the economy of this country. Atleast we can view parliamentary debates live on the national television and radio. During Ian's time not a single member of the opposition could be seen on national television, national radio or even be quoted in government print media. The news on all these channels were always about him, either dishing out soup and home baked bread or jumping over obstacles. Never participted in SADC, AU or even UN meetings. The only time he left the country was when he went either to the UK or USA. So, please we are tired of this fugitive stories of people who even as we speak are paying for their stay in South Africa using proceeds of crime which were not even legitimately obtained from this country. So please, just stop all this hullabaloo 😮!

      Exactly. Khama and his family come across as a bit anti black. They have created a circle of themselves with their foreign spouses and friends and they have an attitude towards Batswana as if they look down on 100% Batswana. Ian sold large parts of Botswana to his white friends. They are trying to create some colored elite class in Botswana. Festus Mogus and Ketumile Masire ran Botswana well, no scandals, because they are 100% Batswana. I dont know enough about Masisi to comment on Ian's allegations, but Ian and his family seems an entitled bunch that Botswana is well rid of. They think their British blood makes them a cut above Batswana but they are finding out that we dont give a toss. They think Botswana owes them something. They want half white privileges. Botswana is not South Africa.

  • @milidzaniletshola9045

    Khama comes across as a very vindictive, and paranoid person at the same time. He seems to rejoice a lot in his I- told- you -so moments and parades himself as the greatest president the world has ever seen. The media in South Africa is having an all year round Christmas party interviewing him. To say the political climate in Botswana is toxic is very misleading and grounded on an acrimonious relationship that followed after Masisi came to power. Khama is saying the same thing every time he is interviewed, so why continue with these interviews?
    The one about being killed with a sharp instrument in prison comes straight from a Hollywood thriller. The instrument has no name, to make it sound real and mysterious. That's the narrative. This is a thriller in the making. Khama has created enough awareness about his "persecution" that it's now safe for him to go and face the music in a court of law. He seems to be taking lessons from Zuma,s court case, by employing delaying tactics and dismissing the authenticity of Judges. The relationship between Botswana and South Africa is what Masisi and Ramaposa say it is, not what he says.. Vindictive to the end, so sad.
