  • Former President of Botswana, Ian Khama says the reported warrant of arrest issued by a magistrate court in that country against him and other people who are close to him is a confirmation of harassment by the Botswana government. Speaking exclusively to SABC, the former Head of the State of Botswana says if the law enforcement agencies of his country evoke the extradition treaty that binds South Africa and Botswana, this matter will have to be ventilated on a foreign court and he will expose those behind his current challenges.

@Wilhelm Hesse like President Khama, is the only former president of Botswana who relequeshied power voluntarily when their terms expired. NO!! He is the 3rd President.
He is, however, the only President who wanted to rule from the grave after his term, and hence this debacle...
Remember this: the current President will relinquish power voluntarily when his term elapses, and like the other previous presidents, he won't attempt to rule from the grave. This should explain partially explain why an average Motswana has a problem with for former president Khama.

A former President joining or forming another political party. That sounds farmiliar (Vladimir Putin). During the rein of this Man ( Ian Khama) there was No freedom of Speach, People were getting arrested for speaking against him in public transport (buses and combis. Parlimentary debates were not shown on TV. State funds were going missing. Government workers (teachers, nurses) were getting fired from their jobs for going on strikes after 3 months passed without receiving their salaries. Demonstration movements were being dispersed by Police using rubber bullets, shamboks and battallions, schools were being clossed. The country was in chaos. Political opponents were being taken out (Gomolemo Motswaledi) for trying to expose the Khama family Secrects for stealing funds from the government through their company that was supplying the Military with weapons from 1980 to 2019 when Masisi stepped into power. Despite all this we let him serve 2 terms in office. After that he was given Livestock, Land, tractors combine harvestors and money by members of the public. We hoped that like his predecessors he will retire from politics go back to civilian life. But that was not enough he wanted a firm grip on power by dictating to his successor Masisi to place his brother (Tshekedi khama) as Vice President. Masisi then decided to choose someone else for the position of VP. That was the fire🔥 that lit up this whole drama. After seing that Masisi did not follow his wishes. He then tried to divide members of the BDP by encouraging them to run for President against Masisi. The plan Failed so he decided to form another political party BPF. I believe No Motswana wants a former Corrupt Dictator President to go back in power or have any affiliation in politics. Like his Father Seretse knew that Ian was a divisive figure and did not want him to join politics Ian Khama is a wolf in sheeps clothing. His legacy is not of his Father.

I am a Namibian and, while this may not matter, I am an African. I have a warning for the whole SADC Region and the entire continent of Africa: BE WEARY OF EMERGING LEADERS WITH THE COMMON CHARACTERISTICS OF MASSISI (Botswana), GEINGOB (Namibia) and RAMAPHOSA (South Africa). These are characters who sees vindication and vengance as the resort to eliminate and quel their opponents who openly speak out on their dictatorial misleaderships...so much marred with thievery and stealth. By the way, the 3 are friends and partners-in-crime. The Phala Phala saga of Ramaphosa in South Africa has revealed that this side with Geingob being colateral indirect complecent to the scandal, confessing who his closest almost daily correspondents are here in SADC are...Ramaphosa and Massis. Africa should be weary of these 3 people when you hear them going after anyone who might have at one stage once opposed them. It is unfortunate, the judiciaries are also falling victims of tools into these men's hands to aide their hard-handedness upon their critics no matter the truth is in most of their maldealings. This is the beginning which if let go scape-free and unrepremanted, has a negative spill-over potential to unfold unabated continentwide for generations to come. I reset my case. Namibia.

21st century African leaders are the most corrupt because they are misguided and hypnotized by the Western system. It is true we must beware of them and that's why some of us Khama loyalists will support him until the end because the Khama's compared to those 3 leaders and the current crop of Western leaders have a background in the roots of Africa's journey post colonialism to the current state. This is important because tribal leaders like Khama are trusted by people because a majority of Africans know them and worked with them for centuries. Without Khama alot of poor Batswana will watch their royalties squandered by these 21st century politicians on Covid 19 vaccines, WiFi, 5 star hotels in Western countries for useless events like United Nations assembly and Climate Change meetings.

Khama, it's very interesting to hear you speak this way. You propped Masisi! You transformed Botswana into a police state. You silenced every opposition. Your family transformed Botswana into a private estate. Remember Wilderness Safari? I never could have imagined that one day you will be away in South Africa, ranting. You made the bed, so please sleep comfortably on it. You talk of weaponization? Are you not ashamed? What did you use Kgosi for, as DSS head?
Remember when you banned Julius Malema from entering Botswana? Remember when you banned Bushiri? Remember your famous PI? What goes around, comes around Mr. Khama. You can't eat your cake and have it unfortunately.

So what Masisi is doing is right? you think this same Masisi will stop once he gets Khama, power blinds, its like a drug, Masisi will soon seek to take over your entire nation as his hunger for power grows over time, as a Ugandan, i have watched similar trend enfould with our current dictator.

The fact that the 10bn theft charge did not stick is proof of harassment, where was it coming, it probably came from the same place the current charges are coming from. If this guy did anything wrong, i would like to see him in jail, but before that, he has to be treated like a citizen of a country that values democracy and respects life, he has the right to a fair trial, with charges that can actually be investigated and evidence admitted.
