- In this episode we are Hunting rats with dogs and slingshots
This is a beef farm with loads of meal for the cattle which the rats are eating and thriving on, the rats are obviously a major est on the farm because of the destruction and mess that they cause and the disease they carry. The rat i shot at the start was shot with one of my new Titan hunter slingshots. Moral of the story is ratting with dogs is traditional and lots of fun.

I've noticed that I miss the first 4-5 shots and then start to hit once and again. So I think that bands should be stretched several times before real shooting. Do you agree, Chris?

That was quite a show. Always enjoy watching dogs work. Was what they were bred for and they do a bang up job of it!

I go ratting with Joe Carter (minkman) and my dogs (Buttercup &Lily) if you've ever seen that channel. Joe's approach is to use the mink first to flush the rats from the holes while the dogs snatch them up. After that takes it's course then the cleanup with equipment etc moves in. Having experienced it first hand, it's highly efficient and effective. You guys did well though! Hope that doesn't sound like you screwed up or anything! You guys could sit there and slingshot them till they go to ground and stay there, then ferret them out for the dogs, finish with the tractor lift.
And you're right. Dogs are the most ethical way to cul large numbers.

Great seeing the dogs working so well! The best I ever saw for ratting was some Staffie lurcher cross, it was crazy how many she could snap up. We used to bet on it

We used to have an egg farm on the other side of the road..the owner would ask me and me mates to come over with lurchers and Terrie's...we cleared up hundreds... i loved it and i understand your excitement.. good job boys..

My dad hated rats because his friend died from wheels desiese when he cut his hand on something a rat pissed on so my dad used glue traps poored petrol on them and burned them alive that's a bit harsh for me I love hunting but some people are just evil and it makes other hunters look bad if I kill something I do it a quick as possible I hate seeing animals suffer
Yeah mate im not keen on rats myself but burning them to death is a bit rough lol.

I used to like having a couple of terriers to take ratting but definitely always useful having lurchers too for that bit of extra speed when the rats get past the terriers, the dogs absolutely love doing this and its what they were bred for.

Ratting is such good fun, I really really miss going ratting with my mates and our dogs and sometimes a ferret or two.
What kind of Target do you suggest shooting with slingshot to be able to kill a rat ethically cuz even though the new since it's still an animal and I want to treat the animal as if it was a deer or anyting I normally hunt
Chris you will be better off putting the ferret under first mate as they tend to send the rats out more steady so the dogs can get them instead of it been pure carnage!!!!absolutly belting video tho fella try get some more of them sort of vids bud!!!👍🏻👌🏻😀

Good video. Now wee have a massive rat problem in the cities because of covid and rubbish tipping lack of refuse collections. They spread disease. I have a champion mouser cat and a wasp slingshot so good on my end but not so for neighbours.

Catapult carnage . hell yeah loves a good rat shooting video. Nice job. I helps a few farms in south Italy I go wild boar hunting with 12 bore shooting rifled slugs. I helps on farms doing vet work too and shooting rats I gets free cloths and foods and gets invitation to dinners with home made red Italian wine yum 🐾🐺🐀🐀👍🏹🔫 but did ya dogs get bit I heard em scream great workers you guys got better behaved than kids lol more obedient lol

Jack's will take to it naturally if well bred with good dogs behind them

Which do you think are best for the job, the whippets or the terriers? Obviously the whippets won’t go in holes but the whippets are quicker, but overall if all your current dogs were gone and you had to start over with only one dog breed, which breed would you buy tomorrow?
I prefer a whippet for me because he'll do a wide variety of things. If I was just ratting like this I'd have a terrier

What do u think is the best hunting bands
Do your dogs have any special vaccinations apart from the usual suspects? I’ve lived around, but I’ve never seen as many rats brazen as in Seattle, more than New York LA Toronto, Nashville…
I have two little terrier mutts Sniffagus& Asspania & I’d love to let them go for the rocks around my mom’s backyard, but I don’t want them to get leptospirosis or rat-bite fever… because they’re not experienced hunters so they might not know how to kill quick enough before being bit. Keep up the good work.

If the dog isn't vaccinated than yes it's best to go to the vet. You should always watch your hunting dogs following a hunt.
By the way best thing for bites is hibby scrub ask in your chemist for it £8 for a bottle that lasts ages wet dog were bit then apply an rub into a thick lather wash of do again but not so much an leave on around bite ,, no swelling infection no nothing, brilliant stuff, an most of all ,no trip to vets for antibiotics injection and tablets ,, hibby scrub. Pronounced correctly not sure about spelling, but it's the job lads .8 quid lasts ages .
