    I had a Jack Russell Terrier and she was the gentlest, kindest family pet... except for the two times she encountered rats and she instantly transformed into a wild animal. It was amazing how she knew purely by instinct to pick them up by the neck and shake them, causing instant death.

    It is impossible for me to think of Europe---and in particular England----without thinking about how many wonderful, amazing, and talented terrier dogs that have come from there. It is a job too see a dog doing an excellent job, mostly without a great deal of training, just their natural-born instincts to do the job for which they have been bred for hundreds of years. Keep those great terriers coming! Bravo.

She was so sweet! They are so clever and this little dog made me want to get a terrier, thinking of a rat terrier. Originally a sheltie, then a beagle. Haha.

    I had two sweet, adorable Westies. Don't let the cuteness fool you. Occasionally in the fall, I'd get mice in the house, and my sweet lap dogs would turn into killing machines. A mouse ran under the stove one day, and one of my dogs sat there for two days waiting for her chance to rid me of the pest. She was successful. It's not like a a cat playing with a mouse either. It's a bite and a shake of the head and it's over.

    I have 2 scotties and a cairn. Varmint hunting is serious business. They hunt well as a team, watching each other closely to see who's finding what then just grip it and the old death shake then on to the next. They would have been in heaven at this place.

      @@mrjohnsonsworkingterriers Sure Thing. Btw, a colleague ( a former british soldier ) once told me, that back home in Britain, his Father and uncles even used Westies and Yorkshire Ts in a pack of bigger Terriers for Ratting. That even them would become Werewolves when they smell and see the Rats. Couldn´t believe that untill now. Unbelievable great material, this Video!

    As kids we witnessed a mass migration of rats from the banks of a disused canal.
    They crossed a building site and through a park....the other lot came down the street...so many everyone had to stand on the garden walls
    They were 50 yards wide and 300 yards long.....must have been a million plus of them...some bigger
    Than cats.....they then crossed another main road and disappeared toward another old canal and a disused cemetaries. ..
    Tipton...west midlands.

    Yuk. This is what those dogs were born to do. Actually, as the French name implies, most of them were bred to go down into holes in the ground to dig out and kill foxes, badgers, rats, etc. Good job, guys.

  • @diablo121675

    Enjoyed this, and I thank you. I have a few questions. Correct me if I am wrong, but these dogs are not purebred terriers, except for a few, possibly. Right? I am glad they are having a good time, as there is nothing better than watching a dog do what they were bred to do. Why couldn't they be off leash? Not criticizing....at all...just wondering. I used to love watching my purebred Airedale hunt off leash, and, yes, I always worried I'd never see her again. As I look closer and closer, I see more terriers...Thank you so much. Amazing how many rats, right? They say, an acre would look like it was moving with mice without predators. Great dogs. What fun.

    • @b_uppy
      @b_uppy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of them could be purebreds. There are a lot of varieties not recognized by the AKC and BKC that are still distinct breeds...
      Lurches are crosses, though.
