That's what I'm talking about! I'm so glad y'all are digging our bourbon. We can probably spend hours talking about car stereo installations and Kicker subwoofers 🔊
Don’t get me started! 😂 And thank you guys for putting great product out on the market at a fair price. Can’t wait to see Pursuit United continue to grow!
@bourbon pursuit Funny you mention Kicker. Way back in the day I had kicker amps in my car. The old ones that just had the heatsinks and Kicker logo on them. Ran out of money on the amps so I had to get budget JBL subs. Miss those amps and wish I had a full on Kicker set up. Oh well.
Not surprised at all! Kenny and Ryan are the real deal and they truly appreciate and take their time with their customers! Much love to those guys. They’re always killing it 💪💪🫶🫶🥃🥃 cheers!
Oh wow!! Awesome Josh is a car audio guy. Many many moons ago I had a band pass sub enclosure in my car and then later a dual sub ported MTX subwoofer. I was never handy enough to build enclosures even if HD did the cutting. Would love to see the car audio builds that were done.
There are photos floating around here somewhere, and I wish I could find the USAC sound quality competition presentation booklet I had printed to showcase the install that won a State Championship in my class and 2nd place at the World Championship. I spent a LOT of time, effort, energy, and resources on that build. If I find it, I'll let you know.
@@stuffandwhiskey yes please. If you do find the pics etc please do send. I used to subscribe to the car audio mags YEARS ago and loved seeing all those builds. Dreamt a lot of putting a system together but never had the time, money or skills.
I have one of each of these now - PU is a DO - and both are store picks. Very hard to compare them - very different animals. Would commit minor crimes to get more of both…
I watched this video right after y’all posted it. Got off work and went by my liquor store and found one. I just cracked it open and WOW! Great job to the guys at Bourbon Pursuit. This is definitely one of my new favorites to sip. Cheers Josh and Erin!!!🥃
Loved the head to head so much, I bought pursuit and did the same head to head. The big issue is that there is no nut notes on Weller products at all and Pursuit have a very strong nut profile. Like a Jim beam heaven hill product. I was really wanting to be able to find something to replace Weller Full proof this was not it for me.
Weller Full Proof is not available in my market for $70.00, just like most markets. I've seen it in liquor stores, but I refuse to pay the $200.00+ they want for it. I have also never seen Pursuit United. In fact, I have never even heard of it before this video. Side note...I have been sipping on a few wheat whiskies lately and have enjoyed them very much. So much so I have a few videos in the works. Cheers!
Pursuit isn't everywhere yet, but they're working on it. We actually don't get their rye in market here--only the bourbon. Hoping they continue to grow and reach continues to expand.
AMEN!! W.i a.Journey, I won't pay stupid $$$ for so- called " allocated " juice either, just catch Bearded Idiots, aka Kelly Sparks. Pisses him off too 😤 The Whisky Whiskey? community knows better, everyone knows it doesn't cost the distillery big bux to make Bourbon, it's the middle- man who jack's it up 2 exorbitant prices!!😢🤦♀️🥃.and I AM "mad about it!🤣🤣"
Got my pursuit oak series rye and bourbon at JHOB 12 hrs before state raided them. I had a short window in Louisville and got lucky. These guys have great palates and blending skills
This was batch 2 and now they're on batch 7CC. Being blended to taste, they're pretty consistent, but we do find the new batch (7CC) to be even better than the batch in this video.
Wow what a surprise. I’d never expect this outcome. Thank you! Totally agree there’s no need to compare a wheated bourbon to another. Comparing to a regular corn bourbon is fine.
I remember when I first opened my Pursuit United I was about to try and give it away to one of my co - workers I thought it was one if not the worst bourbon I tasted. A few days went by and I revisited it and the flavor totally changed and was now one of the best bourbons I tasted. This was so underrated I tried to put others on it.
That can definitely happen from time to time. Sometimes it's the bottle needing to open up a bit, and sometimes it's your palate on that particular day (if you think about it, cheeseburgers are awesome but sometimes you just want tacos and not even your favorite cheeseburger would taste right if you're in a taco mood). Always good to revisit things if possible. Great comment, Tragic. Cheers!
I tasted the Pursuit United (batch 7CC) at the Bardstown Bourbon Festival. Kenny was hyping it as the best bourbon there. I didn't taste every bourbon there but it was the best I tasted that day. My bottles cost $65.
Great video and Josh was just ecstatic about pursuit beating Weller. So, what is the best method to develop blind pairing? How did you choose to put a blended whiskey with a store pick? Not a normal pairing.
In our eyes, anything is fair game, unless you're finding that you can consistently detect differences in mashbills when you're double blind. In our experience not even the pros like Fred Minnick can do that with any level of accuracy and consistency, so really it just comes down to flavor profile preferences--and that's what we tend to pair up. If the proof is relatively close and the flavor profile is fairly similar (generally classic and sweet with some fruit-forwardness like these two) then that's a matchup that's fair game to us.
These blinds are brutal on hype. We have a feeling that Buffalo Trace products would lose for a lot more people if folks would give double blind tastings a try. That said, there are some Buffalo Trace products we do like, but admittedly they are few and far between because most of Buffalo Trace's stuff isn't any better than anything else out there.
I got pink eraser on a pour (The Octave Brackla 2011)my friend shared with me. He tried it after I told him that and he totally got it where he hadn't before.
Pursuit’s rye is also quite a solid pour. Flavorful and doesn’t feel like it’s 108 proof similar to Erin’s assessment of the bourbon. Looks like I need to target the bourbon next!
WFP is the only in the Weller line that I would chase. I wouldn't pay much over MSRP, but it's so good. Never had Pursuit United, but will keep an eye out for it. Love this series. Thanks for all the great content!
Agreed. The right WFP pick and Weller 12 are two that we enjoy at suggested retail, and WLW is obviously a great pour at anywhere near suggested retail, but the rest of the Weller lineup is pretty mediocre in our book.
Really love the Pursuit juice. I just have to work a little harder since they aren't in my area. Luckily my fam in Chicago can readily grab them at Binny's for next time I'm there.
That's a great question actually! We've modified our recording style where we only ever record two head-to-heads at a time to keep our palates fresh and consumption in check.
She went full mom on you Josh when you interrupted. She said, “Joshua!” 😂 It proves that our teenage boy never really goes away in our adult lives, lol! I am reminded of the mommy scene in family guy when Stewie says mom, mommy, etc until finally, Lois snaps and says “WHAT!” Stewie responds with, “HI!” and runs away giggling.
@@robschoenung9543 Someone told me Ohio and Texas always had Weller, but when I traveled through Ohio in September, I stopped at four or five stores and found nothing. Maybe in another 10 years when Buffalo Trace's new capacity is up and running.

Also Bourbon Pursuit United is $78 before tax and Weller FP is unobtainable so I’ll be buying Pursuit United.
Totally lucked out. Found 2 stores that carry Pursuit Bourbon for $59 to $61. I got Batch 7CC. Hope it’s good.
Josh’s excitement is super genuine here… normally he’s not this hype about a bottle dethroning a highly allocated bottle. Cheers 🥃🥃
I can confirm. This is how Josh acts when he's surprised and/or excited about anything, not just whiskey. 🤣
I was just gifted a 1/2 bottle of Pursuit United 7CC. It was really good. I was getting the Luxardo Cherry/vanilla/oak.

Thank you. Is this the latest Pursuit United release?
The new batch is 7CC and it's even better than this batch.

I need to try pursuit again, wasn’t a big fan first time around. I never knock anything that I haven’t tried 2-3 times!
The neck pour strikes again!
Pursuit is $65 in my area, definitely going to try it now.
Pursuit wrecks all the Wellers honestly ! Wellers is some biggest hype train bottles there is ! If you like rye the Pursuit is solid also
Great video. I’ve never had either but I see the Pursuit on the shelf here in Ohio all the time. Will get one this week!
It’s real good. Bakers, but different, more subtle.
@@ThelifeofKingfish I love Baker’s, so that’s a great reference point. Thanks!
@@matthewlenehan3345 I’d love to see a blind between Pursuit and Bakers. I have both and will give it a try sometime.
Definitely get less nuttiness and more fruit-forwardness on Pursuit compared to Baker's. Both are solid bottles worth having if you ask us.
