    First of all it’s sourced from brokers. Second, it’s a blend of rejected barrels. And lastly, it tastes like unadulterated piss. Save your money on this one and support actual distillers that make their own product.

    Out on the west coast so I only got my bottles a week ago. But I'm really enjoying it so far. I saw some of the other comments...this is not a typical 4 year bourbon. Kenny and Ryan are doing a great job...as well as you Jason. Really enjoying your reviews. Thanks.

    Seems a bit expensive for 4 year old Bourbon. Stuff like Rare Breed, Russels reserve SiB, Knob Creek Sib, 4 Roses Sib, are all cheaper

    • @TheMashandDrum
      @TheMashandDrum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Like I mentioned if it was 40-50 I would buy this more often, but for a young blended bourbon its impressive.

      I know I shouldn't get caught up answering questions, but we are comparing ourselves with New Riff, Wilderness Trail, and Rabbit Hole in that $55-$75 category. I believe what we have is a big bang for your buck when you look at those brands. This is also a blend of 4-5yr. Remember that Blanton's is 6yr and costs $70-$80 at retail.

    • @TheMashandDrum
      @TheMashandDrum  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bang for your buck is a good way to say it. I prefer this over new riff and probably most Blantons single barrels these days since they are no longer in that 7-9 year range.

    Great review Jason. My friend and I described this one as Candied Oak 😂. A lot of great notes in there. I felt like I could pick out elements of each component yet it all comes together for a really great bourbon. It drinks slightly older than the said age points of the components as well.

      Fistful is 90 proof and a blend of 5 American whiskeys suited for cocktails. Compare that to 108 proof non chill filtered with bourbon from well known distilleries in United. It's no comparison.

    Great, timely review! I ordered a bottle of this from seelbachs.com last night after seeing a few other positive reviews. My interest is piqued anytime I hear chocolate or chocolate malt thrown around as a tasting note.
    How did you think the different flavors transitioned? I know it’s young so it might not have as much depth as a Bardstown Bourbon Co Discovery Series or Barrell product...but did the flavors mesh together? Was it “spiky” at all?

    • @TheMashandDrum
      @TheMashandDrum  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has some spky notes in the form of spice. Overall it tasted like orange ginger tea with some cocoa on top. The spice. Its a great blend. Tastes older than it is. No Dickel in this blend so the honey caramel notes come through with whatever Tennessee whiskey they are using.

    • @chriskerker8952

    Hey Jason, Nashville TN resident here. A lot of non-local folks don’t know this but there’s a distillery in Columbia, TN just south of Nashville called Tennessee Distilling Group that is providing sourced whiskey to some players in the industry. I’m *not* saying that’s where Kenny and Ryan are souring their TN product from, but based on want I know about Chattanooga I think it might be very likely that Columbia is providing the whiskey here. Figured you’d like to know. If you Google Columbia, TN distillery you’ll find plenty of info.

    I got a bottle the other day. Agreed, a good quality daily drinker that needs to be $45. Another great review and Vid 👍🏻

    • @BourbonPursuit
      @BourbonPursuit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We could make it $45 if we put it in 500ml bottles, LOL. But seriously, to get at very low price points you need to own the distillery and have massive scale. Both of which will never happen for us. So that's why we decided to spend over a year finding the right partnerships with brands that we can create a very complex bourbon and sustain that quality for years to come.

    • @bushkey
      @bushkey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BourbonPursuit I get it and respect the small business. Happy to pay a little more for good small quality. So much sweater now . It’s good stuff, liking it even more today

      @@BourbonPursuit I kinda take it back, this bottle keeps getting better. I’m past the shoulder and thick smooth rich orange Carmel comes to mind, and compared to other bottles I own that cost $50-$100, this beats a lot of them. While young juice, it’s better quality and worth the $65. Well done 👍🏻

    Jason do you know why the aromas of a given whiskey seem to be so much more prominent and easy to pick out when the glass is empty? I find the nose of bourbons to be more prominent once I'm done and nose the glass.

    • @TheMashandDrum
      @TheMashandDrum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well basically your left with the whiskey film on the bottom of the glass. With all the air hitting that and it drying out it's gonna get more potent. I'm sure there is some science behind it but when you have more air in the glass than whiskey...the aromas will really start coming out.
