I was really depressed for a long period of time. I came home drunk one night, and I was looking for really sad songs to play, but I stumbled onto this. I could only think of only one word: hope. I don't know why, but I just felt a sense of calm. It was like the beginning of the song was a tiny beam of light in a dark room, and then once the song began to get louder, it was like a whole new world was open to me. It was one of the best feelings I've ever felt.
i guess it really speaks to the talent of these musicians, hope is half the coin when it comes to godspeed, its one of the major themes in their music and yet they get it across purely on feeling alone and without a single word even to the drunk and depressed it makes you feel it, amazing band truly
I guess I am just dead inside. Saw them perform this track live - multiple times, but notably - during their tour for this album.. I did not weep. I did not cry. I just felt a little more human for a brief period. I am still human for brief periods. I am still a human person, I tell myself.
when you're actually in front of that stage, you are not capable to think anymore. just hypnotized by the unmatchable talent of these people. MUST LOVE THEM.
Just got home from work, my boss has been unreasonable with me for weeks then after the shift without explanation cancelled all my shifts. This song gives me hope, makes me feel freedom and peace. Life will get better as long as you believe it will.
This is the most hauntingly beautiful, heartwrenching, powerfully emotional song of all time. The first time I heard it was the first time a song had ever brought tears to my eyes to accompany the goosebumps. It had such an impact on me that it was damn near a spiritual experience, and it deeply inspired the direction I'm taking in some of my instrumental music. I am almost certain that there will never be another song that dethrones this as my favorite song of all time.
When i first heard of this genre called "post-rock" i was sad to think that rock n roll is officialy dead. But if this is taking the place of rock, im more than fine with it. I'd call it rock evolving into something more meaningful, more beautiful, more sureal. Thanks for the upload!!
Difficult to understand? Why they are so clare for me, this song simply. Describe the joy of life, the joy thath you realise thath you are alive, or maybe the growth of a child, the first monent of the song are very sweet like the love of parents and after the child start to grow, walk alone with nobody tath help him, its like be on a plane thath go more high and you see the city the people and the word be so aliva you see every people have their own life and how much detailed and alive the world is and the rest of the album is just trying to be happy, describe happiness peace fell safe dying saddness fear and anxiety untill the last song sound like a funeral the song just stop, its like a plane run out of fuel thath crash on the ground

No! This music and many other beautiful ones manage to dig up emotions that have always been in you but they were buried and you haven't felt them often before. You, me, we all then must appreciate these emotions in the way of pondering; what it is that I am feeling now? Why are these beautiful emotions buried in my soul? How do I achieve these emotions in real life? Is my soul longing for something that I don't know of? It is then that you have taken one step towards purpose of life.
I’ve just gotten into King Crimson this past year and Godspeed seems like a perfect continuation of that music. Sophie is like David cross in the Wetton era and the guitarists wail like Fripp. I wanted more Crimson like music, and Godspeed seems to have scratched that itch!
My favorite song by them... when I saw them in Vienna I was kind of disappointed, because I noticed that they played a whole part of that song at the soundcheck, but not at the concert itself -.- still a great band!
Lift Your Skinny Fists is an underrated album for sure! People need to know about this album! Let there be a film using the album as the soundtrack, and the script has no dialogue, and the plot is based off of the album's sound!
What? This album is anything but underrated. It is universally praised (rightfully so). Critics love it, an entire generation of musicians will cite this band as influential to them.
Music stirs emotion because the brain attaches emotions the events it percieves. These emotions exist only within each brain, as do words and thoughts. The meaning of life is therefore not external but Internal: the meaning of life is to give life (your own (instincts-influenced)) meaning.
Last August I saw Godspeed at a little club in my hometown of El Paso Texas to maybe 200 people. Ten years ago I saw them in D.C. @ 9:30 Club. Both times were spectacular in their own right. I'm glad I had these experiences and if you have the chance I highly suggest going to one of their shows. It's a sonic delight with sublime visual accompaniment.
Could not be happier with your guys' work. I love every video. I just wish Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson would tour Canada so we could get some video of them.
Once they switch to that harmonic minor scale at 12:26, it makes me want to dance fast, passionately & half-drunkenly with a bunch of Greek men & women on a rainy day out in the open somewhere in Athens' harbor.

An important moment in music history.
to me, it's the best post-rock band, very difficult to understand. But complitely on an other level.

well, the movie Youth has a scene with a short version of 'Storm' :)
Watch it with Coraline muted starting when you first see Dakota Fannings name. It sounds wierd but it's super fucking cool.
It's actually their highest rated album although it's not the best.
@@amnesiac5429 I think its their best personally. F# A# is not far off but the emotions I got on the first listen of this album is indescribable
