Thank you for this information. I've been jumping rope as exercise for almost a year and a half and it has definitely helped me for the better. Its good to know that there are valid reasons why jump rope is a good exercise. There still seems to be double standard on this. Most people still see a jump rope as a childs game or toy and yet when famous fighters use it for training the outlook is different.

One thing I have always preached is no matter what your goals are, you should always improve your cardiovascular endurance and jumping rope has been my savior. I am a bodybuilder at heart, have been lifting weights for almost 2 years now and trying to gain muscle without putting on a lot of fat. One thing I would like to mention is the fact that my endurance has gone to another level after I started jumping rope which indeed has a lot of carry-over to other exercises. For instance, nowadays I can squat 180 pounds (approx.) for 8-10 repetitions straight without my cardio-respiratory endurance giving up. On the other hand I often see other guys gasping for air after performing few reps in squats or dead-lifts.
Do you know what the exercise is called when you pump your arms hard as possible like sprinting or jump rope, but with no rope? Its a fantastic low impact arm focused cardio exercise but I can't figure out what its called. Its not high knees because you focus on keeping leg movement at a minimum to avoid impact. You focus more on the pumping action of the arms. Its perfect for Zone 2 cardio also.

Hey man great vid. I started kickboxing but just training the boxing side. I'm jumping for about 3 years now. But I'm unsure how to translate the skipping into boxing. Like with the boxer step you always say "shift weight" but how exactly do i do that? Or is jumping rope to get you comfortable with bouncing? Should I be jumping in a boxing stance in order to be better at boxing? I hope I'm not confusing😅
Nabeel Adams - if you're gonna box, you gotta get light on your feet... you need to be comfy with 30% of your weight on one leg and 70% on the other... and then shift it so you have 60% on one leg and 40% of the other... It's rarely 50/50 where you have your weight equally distributed across your legs.
