I’m still saving up for my HDHU98-13 radio and I wouldn’t dream of buying it from anyone else!! But I have one question, I’ve never messed with a 13 band EQ so is there anyway you could do a tutorial video for the best EQ settings for the highest quality sound for a fairing and bag lid speaker configuration please?! Or would it be completely different for each brand of speakers?! I have sinister sounds 6.5” fairing speakers with pods and your precision power 6x9” lid speakers and they are the best ones you offer, can’t remember the name of them lol..
Had one installed a couple weeks ago. I'm really disappointed at how dim the the turn signal, oil pressure & neutral indicators are. You absolutely cannot see them in the daylight. I had my dealer swap in a new unit and it had the same problem.
Soundstream is working on a solution to brighten those indicators and this will not be an issue much longer

I’ll certainly buy it… when bluetooth connection becomes available. Intercom is a game changer for me.
It has Bluetooth but will not send out to headsets, it only receives Bluetooth to the radio
Does this support Bike-to-Bike CB audio? THAT's what I'm waiting for!! I'd love to have a nice big touch-screen and all the bling, but for group rides, being able to have Road Captain, mid-gunner and tail-gunner communications, at the touch of a button is desired.
No this radio does not connect to headsets, but you can still communicate with a group for comms using a mesh network and headsets without a radio being connected

So i have a rockford amp and bag lids and front speakers… why does it sound so different and more quiet than my rockford head unit with the same amp settings? How should i tune my rockford fosgate amp to go with the soundstream reserve?
@@bearfan0996 the correct way to set any amplifier is to use an oscilloscope or a distortion detector, this radio is clean to full volume so you can turn the radio all the way up also. Call our tech support for help setting the amp, some Rockford amplifiers have the distortion detector built in. 1-844-30AUDIO
could you please show how to use with navigation options like Google maps , Ways and some apple apps as well ?
There are many videos online showing how apple carplay or android auto work, including showing the navigation. Do a TH-cam search
I know I’ve already asked a ton of questions but I keep watching this video cause I’m excited to finally get to order mine next week. But there won’t be a problem installing this on my 07 SG with my sinister sounds speaker pods will there?! I wouldn’t think so but then again the double din inner faring won’t work with my pods so thought I’d ask anyway since jay at volunteer Audio is the master!!
If you want to pull your fairing and send us photos of how your current system is installed then we can give you more information on how to hook this up. No, there is no adjustment to indicator brightness
Does the radio have the same mounting holes in the rear of the radio that the stock radio has? For instance, would a Rockford-Fosgate amp install kit with heatsink install using the peg holes and screw holes?
Even better they added the 2014-up mounting holes that are also on the Rockford amp plate

So it will fit my 2010 CVO Ultra with no modifications? I was under the impression there might be some cutting that had to be done.
No it should fit exactly as we have shown, I have a step by step install video launching early this coming week
You will only have to cut the speaker hole on the trunk just a little bigger with a carpenter knife, fairly easy -
For a street glide with speakers only in the fairing, would you recommend an amplifier? or can I omit? I wanna hear but the passerby's don't need too. I'll replace the speakers in the fairing though.
Any significant volume increase will require an amplifier and yes, to hear over the wind and engine at highway speeds everyone will hear you
Do you have any idea if Sound Stream will make a radio for those of us that already installed the Metra inner fairing on the 98-13 Street Glides?

Does the Soundstream Reserve have the capability to play TH-cam Video app for playing music videos?
No, these apps are not certified by android auto or apple CarPlay to be safe while driving, there are wireless CarPlay/ android auto adapters available that can play TH-cam when connected to WiFi that are sold separate

No, it is all but impossible to maintain the quality of installation and experience to our customers that we maintain in a rally environment. We would have to bring in outside installers and we do not think it would be in our best interest or yours. We spend a lot of our year fixing Harley’s that got rally installs from other vendors
2012 street glide CVO with speakers on my crash bars from factory.. speakers on lids also.. will all my speakers work ??
This radio does not retain factory Harman branded amplifiers that are normally in cvo models, if they say mtx on them they will work

Does this fit a Metra 95 HDIF inner faring? If not is there any other option besides Sony that will fit?
No it does not, and there are no good options for the Metra fairing
@@volunteeraudio Thank you. I have and outer fairing from Bad Dad with flush mount short led strip turn signals in it. If I went back to the stock inner fairing would this unit fit? I also have a aftermarket ignition switch cover, will that have to be removed?
Is it compatible to boom stage 2 amplifier?
This radio is for 98-13 batwing fairing bikes which did not have boom stage 2, if it had mtx amplifiers this radio will maintain those, if it has Harman Kardon amplifiers it will not retain those amplifiers
Does this radio have similar tuning issues to the factory 14+ when adding a kit like a Rockford kit?
I have had no issues tuning with either radio

@@jeremycolon3866 if you are just replacing speakers buy a speaker you can later amplify to make them better. Here is a link for a pair of the better 5.25” option.

We also have several 6.5” options that come with the adapters needed to upgrade to the larger size speaker. It is always going to be louder with an amplifier and you will eventually want to add one.

Will it allow the CB to function on Ultras?
No it will not
Does the auto day night mode in the settings work for you? On my hdhu.14+ if select auto brightness mode it just goes to dark mode brightness permanently no matter how much sunlight and won't change to bright mode . So I have to run manual and change it. if I'm using Google maps I have to change it from white maps for daytime riding and change to dark mode in the map settings to not be blinding in the dark since white background even on night mode brightness is very bright. Sure wish auto brightness would work to allow auto day and night maps to function as it doesn't. Do I have a bad brightness sensor in the radio or do they just not work? Appreciate any guidance.
You manually select night or day on the Home Screen which dims it brightens the screen, at the same time it changes day or night mode in CarPlay from the same selection
Android auto unfortunately does not do that. Wish it did. Wish the auto brightness mode in the radio settings worked but it doesn't either so I leave it on manual mode and adjust it on the home screen. That's not to bad since it's one button on the home screen. It's more effort to make android auto maps change from white to dark mode.
I hope they update the radio to allow minimum brightness to go lower than it currently does since nighttime is still kinda bright in your face. Thanks for the info.

This radio only retains mtx branded factory amplifiers, if you have harman Kardon factory amps they will no longer work and will need to be replaced along with the speakers
It might be a good looking radio for stock Harleys but Harleys that's been raked for larger wheels might not look so good. The inner fairing will be slanted down a bit the more its raked. If the head unit has to fit snug against the faring it will be angled in the down position depending how much of rake your bike has. Might look ok might not.
They won’t fit with a raked front end
@volunteeraudio I don't see why not? The angle of the inner fairing and on off switch will be in the same position but facing at a downward angle. Atleast on the 2006 and down. I may be wrong haven't tried it. Thinking about it but now you say it don't work maybe I wont.

It uses Apple Maps, google maps or Waze from your phone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. And yes navigation still works if you lose cell reception

They could have added it but it would add several hundred dollars more to the cost of the radio, the usb also charges your phone

In person it looks great, there is no better radio option for these bikes, no doubt this is the new standard everyone will be installing
Nice unit very poor lighting for indicator lights ,in the day sun not going to see them
