Let me just say. I got my new Sony today. In 20 minutes. I was riding with the Sony blasting. Perfect better then expected. Thank you . Highly recommend.
I just installed yesterday on my 2012 Harley Davidson Electra glide ultimate super easy to install and is actually what I needed. I've been using the stock radio with aftermarket speakers and it's unbelievable to change with this radio installed. Never knew what I was missing. Now my speakers sound great
Just ordered the m55 Sony, I am installing lid speakers on my 07 electraglide and to me it made more sense to get a new deck rather than have the original stereo flashed for rear controls. Can’t wait to hear the improvement😎
Let me just say Thank you. Cliff it was awesome talking to you. It's hard to find a company that the guy in the video is the same guy picking up the phone. Looking forward to my new radio. Next week I'll be getting those speakers. Thanks for everything.
2 year update for me. This radio has been nothing but problems for me since day 1. Shuts off randomly, goes unresponsive. Loses memory constantly. And just all out a pain in the ass. About to switch to the Rockford unit, since there is only a few options.
Installed m80 in a 07 ultra classic...nothing but problems. This is a pre wired bundle..randomly reboots at high volume. Bar controls quit working. It's been installed for a day and I'm ready to send it back.
Does the DMX-M80 have an internal fuse? It’s been working fine and just quit. The fuse for the Harley original radio in the side bar angel box looks good. Just want to know what’s next before I dive in!
Replaced my DSX-M80 with a warranted one same radio. The Axxess handlebar control box needs reset and I can’t get it figured on my own. Can I get some guidance if possible. Thanks
I installed the DSXM80 in my 2002 Electraglide. After about 30 - 45 minutes of playing I get an Output Error message and the radio stops playing. I can turn the radio off for a couple minutes and then back on and it plays. I'm thinking that the radio is overheating, and once it cools down it works. Do you know of a solution for this.
I installed this head unit in my 2009 ultra! When I put the bike in accessory mode my hand controls work… says no device is in the rear usb though…. When I crank my bike,,, my hand controls won’t work…. Any suggestions?!?! Help!!!
Just bought a 2013 and the radio went out after riding for a few weeks. Would piecing this together with an amp and speakers be better than a combo system form Aquatic AV? Seen the system on Revzilla
We have the Focal’s on our site that are on sale for $250: notecycles.com/collections/focal/products/focal-aluminum-6-5-fairing-speaker-hda-165-98-13-harley-davidson®
Do you guys know where too find this Sony DSX-M80? CAN'T find them anymore. Crutchfield states they are discontinued? Thanks for your time and information. BTW, nice helpful video.
I just bought a 2004 Harley Electra Glide with a Sony DSX-A410BT. Every time I trun the bike off and then back on it goes back to factory settings. Any advice?
Good morning Note Cycle. I recently purchased this head unit from You guys. I have not installed yet. My question is the USB power cord attached too back of unit, where do you guys run that lead ,and secure too bike? Under fairing? In-between inner and outer fairing?
Are you still running factory speakers or have you added improved aftermarket speakers? If you still have factory speakers, the DSXM80 will undoubtedly make the sound better, but they’re pretty old at this point and should be replaced. We have lots of speakers for 98 - 13 bikes: notecycles.com/pages/product-result?rq=yr_2012~md_electra-glide
What other speakers can be recommend as a good pair for this Sony radio? I know you guys have a install video of rockford fosgate TMS speakers, but 400 bucks at bit pricey. What other options are available that would sound decent w/o am amp Head unit power only.... Tks for the information
Check these out: notecycles.com/collections/harley-davidson-speaker-kits/products/precision-power-fairing-speaker-upgrade-kit-1999-2013-harley-davidson-touring
@Note Cycles , these are 2 ohm speakers. I was told by crutchfield I should seek out 4 ohm speakers too pair with Sony DSX-M80. They said 2 ohm would fry the internal amp? So what's the situation hear? Should I purchase 4 ohm or 2 ohm. I will be making the radio purchase this week from you guys. Thanks for your time and information.
@@tayler2396 i have my thumb drive with tunes on it plugged into the back, have it tied just under fairing, i plan to use the front one for other tunes i may want to switch from one to the other. dont have problems with usb ports
I have a 2010 ultra classic 4 speakers,, do I need to order rear speaker harness ? Also I have focal speakers installed , does this head unit provide the power and bass I’m missing or do I need an amp with this unit . Thanks great video 👍👍
installed this unit Sony dsx-m80 into my Harley ultra classic. the kit was great, quick and easy to install. my issue is the rear speakers are muffled and distorted.if i turn it up unit shuts down and restarts.i checked speakers, they are all ok..stock Harley speakers.i think it might be in settings? any idea?
These radios usually need a direct connection 12v connection to the battery. Not just using the power wire in the harness. It's in the manual in the radio suggest running a 12-14g wire with I line fuse straight to battery power, just as you would with any other external amplifier. The built in amplifier in these can draw up to 15 amps or more and not having a good direct power source and or connection to the battery will make it shut off and restart.
Just installed mine a couple days ago and today was when I noticed the first issue. I kept getting "output error" after about 10-20 minutes of riding, and obviously the music cut out, and the only way I've been able to fix it so far is to shut my bike off for a few minutes then back on. Has anyone else had this issue? It's a nice looking radio and all and it matches my Street Glide well, but I'm not gonna stop and shut my bike off every 10 minutes just to keep the damn thing working
So far I’ve read that you have to run a 12 gauge power wire direct from battery with a 15amp fuse because the head unit draws more power than the factory wire can handle. Also upgrade the ground wire, mine also sometimes shuts down with an “output error”
@CGOD after riding some more with mine I've noticed what's causing the issue. I usually only get the "output error" if I have the volume above 40, which is plenty loud but sometimes on the freeway it can be a little bit hard to hear. That is of course with my helmet I'm normally wearing which reduces outside noise by quite a bit. So overall I don't think the bigger Guage wiring will be necessary. It works good enough now and I'm also not using my stereo as often anymore after recently getting a Sena for my helmet lol
@@ganonpig yeah I barely installed mine about a week ago and noticed the output error on the first ride. For some reason it’ll play on max volume while parked but while riding it’ll sometimes give me the error. I turned up the Bluetooth audio to +6 to run a lower volume but even then like you said on the highway I’d like it louder without the error.
Let me just say. I got my new Sony today. In 20 minutes. I was riding with the Sony blasting. Perfect better then expected. Thank you . Highly recommend.

I ended up buying the bundle from Note Cycles for the wire kit. I decided to install it when I installed my ape hangers. Two birds, one stone.
Boom! Love it! Hope it’s still kicking strong! We appreciate you!
I bought this because of your video

Unfortunately the wiring under the fairing is different for 07's versus 08's so it will not work.

Sounds like the head unit isn't keeping its memory for some reason. Could be the head unit or is could be the wiring harness.
Sold out! When can i get one?
We’re in stock! Sorry for the delay!
Great video. What's the price of this head unit?
Starts at around $338 for the complete bundle!

Have you tried using the rear USB? I get an error message, "USB Overload," whenever I try to connect my iPhone to the rear USB.
I'd try using a different phone cable. It definitely works. Make sure the cable you're using is a data cable, not just a charging cable.
@@notecycles Thanks for checking. I'll try some other cables.

Yep! They sure do!
Does the Sony DSX-M80 have AVL?
Or some call it AVC
Great question - our bundle does maintain your hand controls for volume but it does not maintain automatic volume control.

Gosh, at Crutchfield it is $268.00 and $348.00 at Note Cycles.
The price at crutchfield is JUST the head unit. Not all the adapters and wiring harnesses. It’s actually a great deal here.
I never seem before a car estereo on a moto
It's a marine rated head unit which means it's ready to handle the elements!
