We really are living in the Golden Age of gaming!!! This looks slick and Castlemania games rocks. Great video, John. Thanks for the info on this system!
EggChen6DemonBag the audio is off a little. It's not as bad as other clone systems, but it's enough to be noticeable. The picture coming from the HDMI port on an HDTV is beautiful though. Also the controllers are actually pretty decent.
Not sure what you were talking about with CV3. Usually, it's NOAC systems, not emulation systems, that have trouble with that thing. And you seriously need to clean either the Famicom adapter, King Kong 2, or both.
Have you had any issues with audio? I have Retro-bit's Super Retro Trio (it plays NES, SNES, and Genesis) and with a few games like Kirby's Adventure, and maybe even 1942, the sound is off.
How about things like Game Genie? Or that Super Games 150 in 1 game you recently got...I would love to get one of these systems. I have my NES in the bedroom, this would be cheaper to buy than a second NES system for the other TV
John, Great video! can you try it with Super Mario 3 (saw a comment somewhere that wouldnt start) and a everdrive please. also, could not find the patreon code.
I have the retro-trio (also by retro-bit) which plays nes, snes & genesis & that works just the same. I can play ntsc & pal snes games on it + it's famicom compatable. Also, just like the RES it'll play homebrews + repros (Reggies Radical Adventures looks awesome on it 👍)
Can we get sound clips of this system so we can see whether the duty cycle order is correct? That's a problem with the vast majority of NOAC NES clones produced currently.
This is a good little system but it is incompatible with tengen version of Gauntlet game boots up but all glitchy and messed up totally unplayable and I tested the game on my 2 original nes and it works fine so it is a issue with the res but it does play my tengen shinobi so it's not a issue with all tengen games
If you have friends/family in the mainland, you could have it shipped to them from the store, then they could send it on to you or just pick it up if you plan to visit soon.
Ivan B, I would agree they loosen over time but I remember pretty clearly my original NES was never as tight as some of these new clone consoles. I never struggled to get my games out of my original NES like I do with these.
Perfect review.Nothing we can hear from the console. So there is no way to tell that console has a good or bad audio.Well I tell it has a bad NOAC so it has a bad sound as well. Don't waste on your money on this. Buy a better famiclone with a HD upscaler. It will be better.
Well while it is a good review, I really don't get the point of testing the av cable and not the hdmi part. Pretty sure people that will buy this thing, will buy it for his hdmi capabilities... The sound is also always a huge issue with this type of clone. No test on this. Oh well..

Is that the same Castlevania 3 cart that was on Open Cart Surgery?
haha, not quite. This is my personal copy.
Log Jammers by Jackie Treehorn...
I agree Cobra Command is cool! Glad I took a chance and randomly picked it up one day. Thanks for showing us the system!
Riggs!!!!
What up Reg!!
Smash JT simply smashing!
Thanx Riggy Riggs just ordered one!
The best clone system is the retro bit duo.
Mac Main i love retro bit- arthouse auteur
The only thing is, how does the audio sound like.

It s sucks.Don't buy it.It's a common issue.
@@johncarnege bruh
I know this is old video but would that mean I could play Original battletoads,(battletoads and double dragon)

King Kong Lives was an awesome movie.
Have you had any issues with audio? I have Retro-bit's Super Retro Trio (it plays NES, SNES, and Genesis) and with a few games like Kirby's Adventure, and maybe even 1942, the sound is off.
If the sound of 1942 is off, it probably makes it sound better :) I didn't notice a difference.
Can it use flash carts?
good question. I'll have to try sometime soon.
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Let us know! :)
I dunno why it wouldn't so long as it's a hardware clone and not an emu box.
Pretty neat system and compact. The price is fair too.
coulda swore the hd retro-trio from these guys was supposed to be out by now.
Seems like a great little box. Ticks all the boxes - small, compatible, hdmi and not emulation.
Zero reason why the cartridge sockets on these systems need to be so tight. But this clone does look cool from a styling stand point.
I like the looks of the case and controllers. Talking about the board, are you going to do a teardown video?
Yes, another person who uses the two finger method. I started doing that on NES and continue to do it on all controllers to this day.
Multicards???
Does this work with an Everdrive Flash Cart?
Should work since it's actual hardware and not emulation.
Ehat resolution is the HDMI output?
Do you think the "deathgrip" on the cartridge slot would bend any of the pins?
King Kong 2 for Nintendo doesn't look anything like KK2 for MSX2.
Perhaps I should give it a try.

Flash carts: Inquiring minds want to know~!

I dunno if that's what you needed or not

The console needs a eject button, So you not have to destroy the game to get them out, It is painful to look at...

Does it work with the Everdrive?

Loses points for the controller ports being wrong direction so it can't use NES Advantage
How's the HDMI performance
Will Game Genie work on it?
Too bad I can't order from Castlemania games, since I live in PR. They have tried to help, but no luck so far. :(
If you have friends/family in the mainland, you could have it shipped to them from the store, then they could send it on to you or just pick it up if you plan to visit soon.
Ok, does it dump and play roms or is it true hardware emulation?
Thank you.
Definitely one up on retrobit's Super Retro Trio it won't play Castlevania 3
John, I am just getting into your channel and am considering becoming a patreon once I get caught up on my bills.
Button placement on controller is just wrong.
Use a real controller then.
Ahh! The tight grip of the port makes me cringe. Why can't these aftermarket NES consoles make ports that are not so damn tight!
Shove a game genie in it a few times and it should loosen right up.
tmpardi77 nes consoles were tight when they were new too...
Ivan B, I would agree they loosen over time but I remember pretty clearly my original NES was never as tight as some of these new clone consoles. I never struggled to get my games out of my original NES like I do with these.
Dude. You should be a beta tester for Nintendo or something. 😊

is your tv lcd?

You have alot of bootleg consoles, care if I steal them ;)
