- Hello, and welcome back to another ArmA 3 video. In today’s video I’ll be covering 20 of what I believe are the most essential mods if you’re a new player looking to dive into the workshop. These are completely my own opinion and honestly a majority of these are mechanics changing mods. It’s important to understand the base game mechanics first before getting these mods, otherwise you wouldn’t know what's changing, so when I review the mod I’ll explain what the changes mean for you once you load them into your game. This list is not completely exhaustive or comprehensive, it was surprisingly hard to narrow down even 20 mods that I would consider my top 20 for new players. So with that, let's get into the list.

Viper, this is a great video, well done.
I wanted to comment about the Vcom AI features because I've been using it since its first incarnations, and seen its features as they developed.
The reason you don't notice the mines yet is because they're pretty rare as far as chance goes, and the AI are a little more judicious about when to use them nowadays. In older VCOMs they would overuse these mines and the script was so lax in when they could be placed, they'd place them after dying sometimes.
My clan and I always liked it for the chaos it caused, but more "serious" units would probably be frustrated to have their mission ruined when an enemy is killed and then several seconds later, a mine or IED becomes armed beneath their feet with no chance of escape.

There's only four! Iron Front, Faces of War, Northern Fronts, and CSA Munich Crisis, in that order.

I know there’s a lot of great classics you missed but if you’re going to include ACE to revamp medical and combat mechanics you gotta include TFAR to revamp communications! But maybe it’s not suited for newer players, idk

Great video helped me modding for the first time. Also there is a MCC mod that has god mode, unlimited ammo, and stamina. Great mod you prolly know about it though.

The fact that im an early access purchaser of arma 3 and yet here i am 7 years later still watching new player videos should hint at the sheer scope of arma 3. you new players have gotten n yourselves into thr biggest war simulator at least available commercially. Good luck! And enjoy

It's worth mentioning that there is VcomAI Development Build that is far more advanced than current 4.3 version and does fix smoke spamming issue. I have tested it and was amazed to see how my men covered each other when moving around Georgetown's narrow alleys, not getting lost and being able to perform proper street crossing with guys covering both sides of the street... it felt almost like a real thing! Man I love this mod, it is first on my essential list.
Fantastic video as always! I was wondering, have you tried the new Blastcore Murr Edition? I've switched to it recently from Blastcore and Hopecore, and it's been looking gorgeous so far!
Man I did, it’s too FPS hungry for me personally and tries to do too much. If they can optimize it a bit that would probably win me over.

That flood light on the night vision looks sick. Now I can use in game more than real life
Take it from this "Grunt," while I might not fly them, that doesn't mean I don't like seeing Aircraft. Especially the way you display and talk about them. Your enthusiasm makes me aalmost want to fly them, too. LOL. (But I'd end up being one of those aircraft not bouncing when it hits the earth.) Keep on doing what you do. It's always a pleasure to watch.

You mentioned that the Blastcore compiled by Neetch mod is not as demanding as other explosion mods. How does it compare to Arma FXP?

What an amazing overview. Would LOVE to get into Arma - tried 2 times and even though people were friendly, it was just a much, much too steep learning curve. I got into some servers that was ultra tactical and even though I LOVE playing tactical, it seemded like you had to be a former marine of some kind, to know what the mission really was and how to carry it out. Is there anybody who can be paid to setup Arma 3 with the most common and "best" mods (I know its subjective, you prolly know what i mean :D ) for a new player?

Let me start by saying you are my NUMBER 1 channel to go watch vids of arma3 mods. I have a lot of mods thanks to you. That being said. I wish you had put the name of the mods in the description instead of just numbering them. For example some vids ill read the description, see I already have the first 5 mods and skip to the ones I know I don't. Either way don't take it as hate speech

Top mod 4 new players is 'Enhanced Movement' - 4 disable stamina and the ability to remove the gun behind the back in coop, as well as jumping and overcoming obstacles!

this game has it, and i regret having unistalled it at the time i strongly needed hardware space for the space hungry flight sims.

Thank for next video. A little remark from my side - Some from this list mods are meaningless if you have ACE3. For example VileHUD (HUD can be fully or partially disabled in ACE3) or RemoveStamina ( in ACE3 stamina can be customizable in details )
You're right! But not everyone uses ACE, so I figured I'd put some in there that improve quality of life for those that run without :)
exactly! but in turn, I would advise everyone to use ACE3, but selectively! Fortunately, ACE3 is built on a modular system, player can disable unnecessary modules separately (ace medicine, ace balistics, ace stamina, ace explosives etc.) maybe not everyone knows about it. I use ACE selectively and that's great!
Hey, Viper? What server do you generally play on to get to use all those beautiful air assets? I would be honored if you shared a few tips on finding a good server that lets players focus on air assets for more than just ONE fighter pilot.

I have about 200-ish hours in arma 3 so i still consider myself a noob, I love how customizable the game is with mods, I've spent hours and hours on youtube and the workshop looking for mods trying to build my perfect version of ARMA 3 with them. The USAF mod is by far one of my favorite even tho i'm a trash pilot i still love my A-10.
the only thing i dislike about the game is my system still struggles to run at a smooth and consistent frame rate. I have a 3060ti and a R7 3800x with 32gb RAM and i still drop below 30fps on a pretty regular basis. I have some friends who just built PC's and was introducing them to arma 3 by setting up a little CAS missions, basic stuff 3 players vs about 40-60 AI and that was enough to drop my fps down to a sold 13.
Yeah, 60 enemy AI is a lot for the engine to think about and definitely attributes to the FPS drop. Honestly, learning a little about unit spawners in the editor and using Zeus to keep the enemy count low but also constant is a great way to "fake" a large scale engagement. It takes a little elbow grease and some know how but the rewarding results are there. Buttery smooth gameplay.
@@Viper1Zero I hadn't considered using Zeus i may give it a try. I've never used Zeus before so i'm guessing the learning curve is pretty high.
Would probably run a bit smoother if it didn't only use like %15 of my gpu lol.

Thanks for the guide, im a pretty plain ARMA player who is thinking about trying out some DRO again. Last time I played in downloaded the Co mod for an easier time commanding my AI teammates. Will this clash with the VCOM mod in any way?
All I play is sandstorm. Arma 3 seemed like alot to learn so haven't played it since I bought it. Going to redownload tho.
I've been playing Arma 3 for a couple of years now and this is the first "mods" video that has adequately explained what RHS, CBA_3 and CUP do for me. But is there a mod that allows the player to use a combat knife as a last resort or for stealth?
I have experienced them laying traps. when they are retreating or trying to flank they will place any bounding AP mines on the ground where they used to be.

Is some of the gameplay footage captured in multiplayer? If so what sort of witchcraft or sacrificial ritual did you do to get that smooth of a frame rate
Enhanced Arsenal is another good mod, for compatible ammo it actually lets you see what type of billets do more or less damage and each gun’s damage
ive used all, if not most of the mods in this list in milsim

VSM also makes the best outfits/gear by far IMO. They other asset packs don't hold a candle

I’d love a top list of recommended coop mods for pve in a private hosted server. My friends and I basically only play Arma Escape Tanoa and a few other small coop mods.
Would you recommend running Hopecore along with the new Blastcore comp?

Hello Viper1Zero, I'd like to ask what mod you picked is the one that changes the main menu music of arma 3
TCL paired with LAMBs for ai is far better than vcom imo, then theres the sigsound mods that is like the hidden underdog compared to JSRS, everyone and their grandma uses JSRS so Sigsound has been a greatly needed change. Also I really like Blastcore Murr Edition over all the other ones but it can be alot more intense on your frames.

pleas make a video about the importance of playing the campaign in the game. Its happend to many times to me that i have to explain to new players that the ghosthawk and huron are nato vehicles and what the enemy looks like in game modes such as public zeus and other game modes where you can only use your faction vehicles.
hey, can you do a video comparing the Gryphons, Black wasps, Shikras, Neophrons, wipeouts and buzzards turn radius and turn rate? could be good to know whether to dogfight in a one circle or 2 circle depending on the aircraft ur using and the aircraft ur opponent has
VCOM AI has screwed over so many convoys for me by placing mines around omg how have u not encounter them xD
What type gpu is recommended for this type of shenanigans? I have a i7 10700k with msi 1660 super. I built my first pc at the worst possible time. Plan on getting a 3070 when/if prices come back down.

I found this DCN Radio: Addon Radios for FSH Radioby D'Cinamon but I think there should be a better one that's only military chatter.
They get annoying quickly
I wouldn't recommend Firewill A-10 as the CCIP markers (where the bomb/bullets will land) in the HUD are not accurate. This makes guns, rockets, and bombs more difficult to use without using the targeting pod.

Hey there! Yes you can use all of them in SP through the editor or any mission you make. Alternatively, you can use them in the campaign if they are mechanics changing/enhancing.
For multiplayer, you would have to join a server that is running the same mods. Trouble is, most servers don't allow just ANY mod because 1) If not everyone has the mods loaded that you do, you'll be running around naked (because you have gear loaded that others don't) and 2) because some of the mechanics mods make things easier for you and not others.
