Not to fan girl too hard but Spiritbox is it. Every damn song is special, and I've never been able to say that about any metalcore band ever.
Spiritbox has big Deftones vibes in this song, especially with the breathiness of the vocals in the chorus. Love it.

and the singer of Spiritbox too........................ and both over all have an absolutely good voice, and both bands have extraordinary good musicians!!!

but Jinjer and Spiritbox > each have their own style in their own genre, and that's the main reason why I love both of them.

The issue with “female fronted” lies less in what you think than what others think. Automatically, the term makes people compare them to other bands with a female vocalist. Jess from Mortality Rate has a great point on all of it. Her band constantly gets compared to other bands with the same gender of front person instead of bands that they actually sound like. For most people, the first thing they say is “female fronted” instead of saying listen to this cool band, by the way, those vocals are a female.
I get what you’re saying, because you don’t mean it the way others do, but until that “female fronted” (oh, so like Paramore, right) mentality goes away, it is what it is.

Oh yea, I'm happy you guys are checking out Spiritbox! I love their style, I love what and how they produce their stuff. The riffs and bass lines are so good in Rule of Nines, so groovy and it still perfectly fits to Courtney's beautiful voice. And damn, her screams are incredible. They are always able to compose and phrase their songs so everything perfectly fits together but always having a special touch to it. I'm so glad that Courtney and Mike, her husband and guitarist created this project in 2016 (I think). They definitely know what they are doing, they are in the business for a while now. Before they brought Spiritbox to life they were in the band iwrestledabearonce, so yea, Courtney definitely is able to scream hahaha. Thank you for checking them out! Loved your reaction and your opinion about the song, also all the female fronted band stuff thats going on. I'm really looking forward to you guys checking out their new single Blessed Be! If you guys want to dive a bit deeper I would also suggest you to have a listen to their songs Bleach Bath, The Beauty of Suffering and their trilogy of songs called The Mara Effect. "Alissa White-Gluz in Arch Enemy" and "The Agonist" just made me laugh, because The Agonist is the band she came from to replace Angela Gossow who was such a legend and probably the first female metal vocalist I had ever heard, love the reaction guys.
Also, I'd love a (The Agonist - Business Suits and Combat Boots) reaction, it's just so damn good.

This is prog metal. I love this kind of shit.
I mean saying "female fronted band" doesn't say aaaaaanything about the music that's produced more than that the vocalist is female. It's not like you can compare Within Temptation with Arch Enemy. And it's not about that as much as that we're like swimming in like all-male metal bands of all calibers, but it feels to me like a lot of the (few) female fronted bands in metal that get a huge following have really amazing musicians and lovely vocals. It is about contrast, and it is about going past the limits of what's usually called metal as a whole. Like, yeah, there might be a few maaaaybe men that can sing like Floor... But then, they'd have to be discovered among like thousands of other male fronted bands too. On a Side note: Courtney's voice has Enchanted me and I am now stuck playing their songs on repeat forever
Right. It depends on the context of the phrase. If you base your opinion on it because of that, that’s weird. Unfortunately there are very few females in metalcore/metal in general, thus it’s an anomaly. Identifying it as just a matter of fact (the singer is female) is different from saying “yeah this is female-fronted can you believe it????” Or “send me music but nothing female fronted”.
The label is an odd one, but the context on how it’s used is important, I believe.

and also this band is more classified as progressive metal the n metalcore. Some people say that the cleans have a art rock feel to it as well.

If you haven’t heard of iwrestledabearonce they started around 2006 and have always had a female vocalist/screamer
So I personally really dont like jinjer..I just dont feel her singing.. but spirit box.. those cleans,her screams...really appeal to me!!

You guys definately have your own sound.
The fact that a female vocalist fronts a band like this is significant because it opens the door to a range of tones and voice accents that you can't get from dudes. Even male singers with fantastic cleans and great voices, like Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth, can't replicate the sound coming from Courtney in this video, or from Tatiana during her melodic parts in some of Jinjer's work. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge the unusual element of a female in a genre that has been nothing but dudes for almost the entirety of its existence is being totally disingenuous. This small community of ladies is killing it on their own merits and they're adding something to the metal world that we can't get without their existence. Even if the majority of Spiritbox's songs aren't my cup of tea, I am fucking thrilled that they're putting material out. Unfortunately metal has a lot of stupid, hyper-macho gatekeeping dickheads that will talk shit about something like this non-stop, but anyone with an objective bone in their body and even a semi-functioning soul should be happy that something like this exists and it only adds more for a new or existing listeners of heavy music to grab on to.
We do hope that one day it is not that way.

There are so many bands that are fronted with female voices. I could probably name like almost 15-20 women who front bands. Then again I’m a concert promoter in the hard rock and metalcore industry. Check out Slaughter to Prevail the song Agony! It will blow your mind! They aren’t a female front. You want a female front check out Lacuna Coil with song Layers of Time

I totally agree about it not being sexist to be impressed by a woman being able to perform like this. I think the whole clean singing to screaming is its own style. I still remember the first time an artist really blew me away with this style and that was corey taylor from slipknot. It's the contrast between the cleans and screaming that really grab me, and while he can sing his ass off, his cleans are very different from what these women can do and not something that I have heard any man be able to do. So as woman get better at screaming, the contrast becomes greater and where I think they really set themselves apart from their male counterparts, imo.

I love both bands and really admire every musician in both bands. They are even buddies. So just go away with your negative bullshit.. no one is interested in reading your garbage
Tatiana is great. She might not have a voice that you prefer, but saying she isn't good makes you sound like a hater. I personally love them both, but I think Tatiana has more versatility in her cleans, screams, and growls. Once you're comparing two singers that are top tier, it's really just opinion at that point.
i dunno boyz.. get what you're saying, but it doesn't surprise me anymore that a "woman" screams this well. i think what's more impressive is the range of skills "the singer" has, genre independant.. the point you're making is this: you expect the high range, cleans and belts from girlz, so seeing some low growls/screams is freakish given boyz proliferate it..
It’s not a matter of “this is the persons gender so we expect this sound”, but overall, statistically speaking, we unfortunately don’t see as many female vocalists given the spotlight, which is something we aim to do with this channel!
