Went fishing out on the west side of the island for a change of pace. Dead calm seas and light variable winds made for an amazing day on the water. It didn't hurt that the mahimahi were also biting!

That last mahi was peeling line. What a blast.
Oh yeah hands down my favorite fish to fight once they get a little bigger!
Smashed em! Nice work!
Thanks dude!
👍😎✌
Beautiful fish
Thanks man!
Nice catch. I find using the gaf is best for mahi ober my kagi.
Thanks! The hook gaff makes sense because they're such a skinny target until they're dead tired.
Sweet Mahi action! 🤙🏼 Too bad that ono did not come back. Watching you use your Kage and seeing multiple times on multiple kayak fishing videos the fish pull off gave me a thought. Have you ever considered putting a flopper onto the tip to prevent this? Would it be legal to do so?
Thanks! Yeah those onos very rarely give second chance.
A Flopper on the kage is not a bad idea I think? Not sure why more guys don't do that tbh.
More saweet action! What set up you running for your main rod/reel?
Mahalos 🤙 I using Ugly Stik Tiger Jigging rod 6'0 heavy with a Penn Spinfisher VI 8500 Liveliner.
Ia Ora na , what is your fish finder ? Garmin? Thank you
Yep Garmin Striker 4. Most basic model but has good readings, low power draw, and had a GPS plotter 🤙🤙🤙
How deep you catching bait?
Seems like no matter where I go I find them shallow (130-180) early morning then deeper (240-300) once suns up
So no need lead for dead bait ? Just toss em?
Yeah usually I just use the same rig I use for my live bait. Adding a swivel helps lessen the line twist.
I like how you did the photo edit! Looks like the water levels touch. So sweet!
@wheres_d_ahi Thanks dude!
