This is so wholesome. R.I.P. B.B. King
Three legends on the stage at one time!
Two! Mayers is a joke
What about Susan?
@@mariafentisbit jealous aren’t you
John Mayer is a pretty good player. Anyone auditioning for a University Jazz spot today would be well beyond his skill set. Or, they are not getting admitted.
Just the way things keep improving.
Best Slide player on a solo I ever saw.
th-cam.com/video/xbOlgESKbIc/w-d-xo.html
Google Johnny Winter.......
Ouch , killing it ...that guitar is speaking volumes about the blues and the joys of music.🙏🫶🙌💞
After that solo BB King says; “That was about as good as I’ve ever heard…”
Yup, should've showed that.
EVERY Derek Trucks Solo since Like 2014 is on that Level
I really never saw Derek trucks that much over time in my life, but a few days ago on the Facebook, I saw Derek trucks come live on stage in 1992 I think it was 9 years old then, I forget what band was playing they were big-name band,, the lead man kept saying remember that name Derek trucks, and now here he is,, God bless you Derrick,
Allman brothers?
Derek is spreading butter on that guitar
It's like a melody mixed with blues, half singing half speaking, really beautiful.
VERY WELL SAID..YOU RE WORDS go right along with those smooth sounds. All works together. Strumming words that sing.
WITH B B KING!! Life s joy..Stevie missin'
Trucks never gets the respect he deserves
Those 3 men let the soul of a guitar fly!
John looking at him the way everyone else looks at John when he plays 😆
And John is now from what I understand Jerry Garcia’s other finger, kinda sorta, I liked when Mayer was on the Chappell show and Dave took him too that barber shop or whatever and that rapper tried to rap ummm pow surprise,… lmao classic stuff
It’s very hard to make your guitar sing. It take a lot of hours of getting to know yourself; but this man made that thing sing man!
its connected to his musical third eye so strongly
Most underrated blues player ...trucks.
He learned from the best. God bless Derek and all❤
He sure did. Some of the best in the business.
That was unreal. Clean, not flashy and a tone from the Gods.
Amen!!😢😇
Derek Trucks is so underrated
💯
By whom?
Hardly.
He can tickle me
Who or what has underrated Derek Trucks?
💕 Love this bluesy funky sound! B B King is SO AMAZING!! ✨ 💋
Derek Trucks the best slide guitarist i have ever heard . Perfect intonation and tone .one of the absolute best , what do you expect , hangin with the Alman Brothers Band .Very honest & heartfelt guitaring . Love this guys style and unmatched attack. I listened to this solo for half an hour again while i thought of what id like to say about one the truly great slide guitarists of the 20 / 21 st Centurys .
Although we don’t have Duane Allman, I can rest my head and sleep knowing we still have Dereck Trucks!
Agreed
A Rare live moment when man and guitar become one
The real definition of making your guitar sing for you.
WOW 😳 he is AMAZING!!!
John is studying.. say what you will about him he really loves to play.
You making it sound like he doesn’t deserve to be up there. He is one of the best guitarists alive today
@@danny4081 He's not on their level. Hence, why BB is shushing him and putting over Trucks.
@@skepchica no, he definitely deserves to be up there. BB doing his thing doesn’t mean John isn’t a good guitarist lol. Ur not smart at all
@@danny4081 John Mayer is like a dirt sandwich. He belongs on a stage with Taylor Swift or Brittany Spears. You calling someone "not smart" is rich.
@@skepchica you just proved how stupid you are. Educate yourself before raging online. John is one of the best guitarists on the planet. You heard one song and thought that was the extent of his skills lol. Cry about it but you’re clearly wrong
Not gonna lie, you hear a lot of people imitating SRV and Jimi well, but everyone I hear trying to imitate Trucks hardly ever comes close.... this full video is phenomenal, and John Mayer is mesmerized, and has his face literally buried in Trucks' guitar.
#ThatSlideThough
… and his face. I noticed that from the start of this video.
People do like to witness the skills of other people… true.
… but you ever notice that the ones with honest passion, true to their heart?
They will look at your face to see if they can understand where that skill is coming from?
Where it resides & where it's born?
Your emotions help people to understand.
I think his eyes are stuck on his face?
The way he mimics the human voice w that fkn machine is astonishing.
Trucks might be my favorite current guitarist. I don't even play slide and never had once in my life but he makes it sound so damn beautiful
A friend of mine's big brother was one of BB Kings security detail. One night my friend got a call from his brother telling him BB King was having a party and he could bring him to the party. BB put a chair down in the center of the room broke out Lucille and just jamed for a couple of hours. Way to cool.
what a legend, rip
Mr. Derek Trucks is and always has been on a whole other level man. When I was growing up we use to go out to the woods in north Florida and watch Dtb(Derek trucks band) and I was just floored every time I saw them, just unbelievable man, so dope.
Same. We'd go see him in Tallahassee at Potbellies.
I love these guys. John and BB just sitting there going like how does he do that. Derek is awesome when he engages that slide he just keeps on trucking! Love it.
I met B. What a gentleman. Lovely man.
Obviously the title is dumb, but damm derek got both technique and soul mixed together in such beautiful harmony
Lol, yep, the title is absurd. Every single solo on every song Johnny Winter recorded is far better than this. But still nice for sure!
every solo on pf’s the wall album is the greatest solo in the world
That playing was overwhelming, dudes fingertips must be made of lightning.
So so so good. Sweet. Perfect.
I love how he uses with the volume knob to soften individual notes. It really adds to the vocal style he plays with. Its a bummer that he's not more well known. Same with his wife. Two absolute powerhouses of blues.
Just to clarify, slide is hard as fuck to play, that’s damn good slide guitar, best I’ve ever heard anyway!
Sonny Landreth offers a viable alternative to pure slide
Derek brought the house down as a young kid at a benefit for children, it was a 3 day event and he was absolutely off the chain as a young kid. I still have the t shirt with the signature guitar 🎸..I did stage set up and security for the benefit, it was a great event.
That’s awesome
Superb, best I ever heard. Rip BB.
Never heard anything better, God bless you
What makes this even better is after the solo BB King puts his hand on Trucks shoulder and says “that’s about as good as I’ve ever heard it”
Thats a hell of a compliment
John looks over and says.. nope.. can't touch that.
He knows.
If you watch this full performance BB goes on to say that playing was some of the best he's ever heard.
Nor should he. He has his own.
That guitar would’ve been perfectly set up to get those intonation spot on that high on the neck and with a slide!. Beautiful playing.
There's words to describe
Derek Trucks. Shouldn't even be possible.Rip Dickey Betts Mark and Dwayne you made the world a better place
Not many realize how precise you have to be with the slide to play like that.
Its a quagmire in that you have to have complete restraint at the same time be loose enough to take calculated chances. You had best know your neck and its harmonic charateristics.
Derek trucks is straight up making love to that guitar.
I saw him first when I was a teenager at the Sarasota blue's festival, he was 14 or 15 yrs old and he stold the show that boy can jam god definitely gave him a gift good for him keep jamming brother ur music is inspiring
Who is this Beautiful Young Man? Blond hair. You know who. Don't want to lose track of him. We will see him again
Derick Trucks ?
Not the greatest solo ever but the phrasing and the way he uses the steel to make each note sing is one of the best techniques ive heard before
Maybe not the greatest, but certainly he can pull the most beautiful phrase outta blues..
His dynamic and improvise is unmatchable..
Even Guthrie praise him so much
Finally a sensible comment
Proud to say I dropped outta Berklee the same year John Mayer did (got signed) circa 2000
That’s funny as hell because I had the opportunity to go and I put in my submission as a joke and they accepted me (I didn’t try) so I decided if that’s all it took it’s not worth it to me. Now I do mma and I always wonder what would have happened if I went :)
@@Final_Deviation wow, are you trying to pursue a career in MMA?
How's it going so far?
@@Raidenofficial it’s going well, but there is so many different organizations to fight in and I’m not quite sure how to go about it. Plenty of organizations I’m affiliated with but they never will satisfy me as the UFC does but maybe one day! Thanks for asking :)

Derek Trucks must have thr most recognizable style in history. What a player
Literally: Voice of the guitar 🎸

I’ve watched this so much and I’m gonna keep watching it over and over and over
Man.... That slide control was incredible
The man is SINGING through the dam guitar.
