    I’m utterly baffled by the fixation on the EX30 not having a speedo hidden behind the steering wheel?!! It sits clearly in your peripheral vision, the same as a traditional speedo, you simply glance slightly left rather than slightly down.

    I recently bought the EX30 Extended Ultra, and have driven it for about a month. Kids have long ago left the nest, so my wife and I don’t care much about the fairly cramped rear seats. With the backseats down, you have a 900 liter boot, which is more than enough.
    Absolutely LOVE driving this beautifully designed car - my first EV. Such a relaxing experience, with plenty of power - and very comfortable to get in and out of 😊
    Only significant flaw is not being able to store the large cable in the frunk (only 7 liters).

    I just made more than 1000 kms with the volvo EX30 Extended range… is a good car, but it seems an unfinished product; there are lot of software bugs, and lot of controls that should have been made easily accessible… also, back space is not that good. Is the most efficient car from Volvo, but is not efficient when compared with the tesla or even other cars like the hyundai Kauai/Kia Niro EV. There’s no CarPlay or android auto, not even wired.

    The Volvo Ex30 is very small size as compared to Model 3 specially back sit legg room and bot is very small. That volvo Ex30 is not family car as compared to Model 3. I think the comparison should be Volvo Ex30 with VW ID3, and Model 3 with BYD Seal because they are similar size looking cars.

    Just 100km in with the new Model 3 in the Netherlands. The lack of stalks so far aren’t as much of a problem as I thought… at all.
    In fact I’m more let down by the car sound. I come from a Model S 2019 and feel the sound on the RWD version of the Tesla 3 falls flat.
    For anyone buying an EV, make sure to really test drive and focus on the software. If it’s buggy, inelegant, incomplete, it will ruin your driver experience.
    Tesla has that part nailed. Don’t compare just the specs, but also the experience, a more holistic view really.
    Edit: well, sometimes 😬 I found myself looking at the steering wheel quickly

    We just picked up a '24 Mod 3 for all the reasons Vicki laid out. But, there are two that were implied that rule above all the other choices in this category: The user interface and ownership experiences. For EVs, it's the software, stupid! The sheer depth and coherence in the entire software suite is unmatched. And it's not just the features, but the overall stability and seamless OTA updates, and the general accessibility to all those features. And the ownership experience, of which many family and friends have enjoyed, include a Sunday morning service call where a flatbed came in at 9AM (!), found the problem, took the car to a center, replaced the 12V, and released the car - all within two hours. On a Sunday. Another was a nearly 3-year-owned car (two months before it was out of warranty) and Tesla proactively called my friend and said their battery was not up to spec and asked if they could come by their home and swap it for a new one. Just two of many experiences.

    I have a loan EX30 at the moment and I like it a lot. It drives really nicely with a good balance between handling and comfort and the range/efficiency seems more than good enough for what I want. I've had no issues with the screen - actually I found it quite easy to find what I want and most of the useful stuff seems only one level down and easy to switch off (lane keep assist, speed limit warnings and so on.) I only really noticed two things, one the sun bounce off the various controls (particularly the stalks and switches on the steering wheel) is really bad and the also the attention notification is fairly intrusive. Sometimes it seems to bong for no reason and if I shift my hands on the steering wheel, it panics. I am not sure how irritating that will be to live with so at the moment, I'm going to keep my ICE and see if software updates improve it.

    I like the Volvo but in my view it can’t touch the Tesla especially if you do a lot of miles. I’ve done 76000 miles in two years and charging network clinches it! Plus the boot and back seat of the Volvo are hopeless and you have to specify the Ultra trim to get Tesla levels of equipment…. But I still like the Volvo, but would look for an I3!!

      It's not a problem if you press the button in clockwise or anticlockwise direction. You just press the button in the same direction you'll be turning the steering wheel. It's a problem if you're looking at it like it's up or down button. So if you're thinking about it in the right way is better then having stocks, because you will always have both hands on steering wheel in roundabout.

      The charging time is the exact same as the Model 3 (10-80% in 26 minutes) with the charge port being in the exact same location for supercharger use. It’s also got a better charging curve than the RWD model 3 as it sustains a higher speed for longer. We found the space just perfect for our needs, actually prefer the hatchback size over the longer model 3 after driving it. Visibility was also far better, and there were no creeks or rattles (which I can’t say for either of the two Highlands we drove). The Volvos sound system was also night and day compared to the SR model 3 which lacked a sub and any decent base. Cars are subjective though, so not going to sit and argue. Enjoy your model 3 man, but I couldn’t be happier with the Volvo and its build quality, safety, tech, performance.

    Having now done 1600 miles in the EX30 and previously owned a Model 3. The Tesla is by far the better buy in nearly all categories. Only the lack of a hatchback boot is where the EX30 wins, and that’s rarely actually a problem for the Tesla.
    The Model 3 is far more efficient, and I mean by about 25%! It charges faster, it handles better and its tech/screen is years ahead and unlikely to ever lose it due to constant ota improvements.
    I really enjoy the EX30, but it’s a slam dunk for the Tesla for anyone with a couple of brain cells. Of course there is more than stats to choosing a car, so looks and ‘feel’ will mean some people choose the lesser vehicle. However for anyone looking to get a genuine ICE replacement without compromise, Tesla all day.

    • @Martin-dx5zs

      I priced up a model 3 to match the spec of the my volvo. For it to match, I had to go for the long range (which is still almost a second slower to 60), paint has to be added, upgraded wheels (at least 19” but the Volvo still comes with 20”), white interior, and enhanced autopilot to get auto lane change and park assist. Adds up to costing twice as much per month (at least it did at the time I was looking @ 9% APR).

    • @robertmandl9326
      @robertmandl9326 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Martin-dx5zs White dirties up quicker, no matter how well you take care of it; manageable, but takes more effort.
      The bigger the tyres the more they reduce your range.
      You chose style over practicality - you got yourself a nicer looking car that also costs you more.
      But more importantly, you made my point at least partially: considering where the Volvo has its base price its almost laughable how expensive it gets when you add the good stuff in - for a car thats factually one class lower and thus, no matter how much you deck it out, will at the very least always offer you way less space to work with.
      How´s the smart phone app? Noone ever mentions those on cars like Volvo.
      Do you have integrated cameras that double up as both dashcams and as an extra alarm / safety system when the car is parked?
      Can you access said cameras through the app? Do you get real-time tracking of your cars position and basic status on the app?
      Does the Volvo save multiple driver profiles which include mirror, wheel and seat adjustment as well as driving settings?
      Does the Volvo come with a small touchscreen in the back for both infotainment and air vent control?
      I could go on.
      You see, there are MANY reasons why the Model 3 is more expensive, the least of which is being a bigger car. I´m waiting for your reply.

    • @Martin-dx5zs
      @Martin-dx5zs หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Christ, is there no self awareness that different folks may like different things lol? That’s certainly one thing I prefer on the Volvo front is the lack of a strong fanboy base. If you are genuinely interested vs just arguing, the EX30 app does highlight the real time location of the car, allow for pre heating and cooling as well as cycling fresh air through the cabin. It also allows the windows to vent. While I will miss the built in dash cam functionality, the Volvo does have cameras all round which allows for a Birds Eye view and 360 view camera which I much prefer over the Tesla vision. It also has ultrasonic sensors and a bumber cam. The car comes with 4 years free 5G connectivity, it automatically calculates routes and plans chargers accordingly (stating accurately the arrival percentage, time needed to charge at each step…). I can also specify which charging networks I want to display (for example, only using public superchargers). The volvo infotainment also has app support, so I natively can run Waze, Chrome, Google Maps, Amazon Prime, TH-cam…
      Again, I ain’t looking for arguments or petty comparisons. I simply stated that for my personal tastes and needs, the Tesla cost more and had worse build quality, worse sound system, worse performance (literally twice as slow to 60) and lacked features like a 360 cam, lane change assist, and auto park. But as it’s all personal preference, I understand why others would like something else too.

    • @Martin-dx5zs
      @Martin-dx5zs หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The EX30 I’ve ordered also has electric seats, with memory function and driver profiles. The car comes with a proximity key, as well as RFID cards that work similar to the Tesla, and a future update will bring phone support to unlock and start the car. There is also no on/off button, the car automatically starts when you get in, and turns off when you leave. There’s also a camp mode like option to keep the ac running.
      Volvo also provide OTA updates on a 6-8 week cadence of which they have a great track record with. But again, I have a hunch that you are not genuinely interested and instead just arguing over what car people prefer and should buy, so I’m going to disable notifications for this thread. Honestly man, glad you’re happy with your car and enjoy it
