      Michael Kelley I like the aquatics the best. It is sad that we never got to see them again. Maybe discovery will bring them back (I doubt that). I would really like them to expand on them I think they have a lot of potential. But i don't think they were mentioned in star trek tng.

    Perhaps the hydrophobia is a hold-over from their animalistic past, not unlike modern sloths on Earth. A number of species need to swim across flooded rivers to navigate the rainforest, and it is one of their most vulnerable times. It would make them easy prey for any passing river predator, which could be anything from a Cayman to an Anaconda. In the case of Xindus, itself, it may well have been an ancestor of the Aquatics, too.

    So much to say about the Xindi, 6 species that developed larger brains and used tools to evolve. It all seemingly happened at the same time. I love the reminders from the show and interpretations.

    I like to imagine similar races from different genres meeting each other and guessing their reactions.
    Would the insectoids and geonosians get along? How would the work together against the xenomorphs of the alien franchise? What of the aquatics meeting the mon calimari and the ones who cloned the republic army, or even Jar Jar Binks' amphibious race? Would the reptilians, gorn, and the voth get along? I'm not the first to do this; I imagine it started with someone who came up with the idea of King Kong fighting Godzilla.

    Xindi, and ENT as a whole, I thought had a lot of undeveloped potential, such as the Boomers and traders. Thanks for presenting this. -- I'd thought somewhere early on, the Xindi said they'd genetically engineered themselves. Not sure if they adapted one species into the six, or if one species "uplifted" the others.

    • @xxxdumbwordstupidnumberxxx4844
      @xxxdumbwordstupidnumberxxx4844 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the case of the cybermen, they don't represent one species. Basically, any species which is mortal will eventually seek to prolong their life beyond normal means, which will culminate in the creation of cybermen. It's a case of convergent evolution.

    I'm betting that in ancient times, there was a super predator in the water that hunted them. I'm not claiming the water Xindi, but maybe something that is now extinct

  • @Zyrdalf
    @Zyrdalf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why are they the arboreal xindi though?
    I mean I get the insects, reptiles,and primates. Aquatic isn’t quite as clear but I guess there is no other water related ones so they could take a more generalized name instead of fishbois or whatever.
    But arboreals? From what I saw in this video it looked like they were some kind of mammalian. And they lived in trees at one point so if we remove the largest group of mammals that are arboreal, the primates because they already have a race, we are left with some random animals. I guess they were sloths according to memory alpha.
    But some sloths aren’t even arboreal. But even if they evolved from any arboreal animal at all why would they call their race that? I mean you already got 3 other races that could also be called arboreal. Reptiles and insects both are very commonly arboreal. And primates are extremely arboreal. In fact there are also arboreal aquatic animals, but thats beside the point. Maybe only sloths loved in trees on this planet? It’s possible. But the writers could have just called them sloathian or Bradypus Xinidi if they were weird. Since they are the knowledgeable ones it wouldn’t be too weird for them to refer to themselves in a scientific manner. And maybe the other races call them a simplified or derogatory name like three-toes.
    Um… anyways more importantly they aren’t even arboreal! Like the one thing they are known as and they aren’t even that! They live in spaceships now, and unless there are trees in that spaceship then they aren’t arboreal anymore! Give it up guys. Change your name. You are spaceboreal now. Lol
    Sorry I just very much associate arboreal mammals with primates, and they look like primates as well, so it was confusing me why there were two races that were identical. It was bothering me so I got carried away. Great video. But I think you missed explaining they were similar to sloths. Or I missed it.
    Also I just want to say that sloths are extremely good swimmers so it doesn’t make sense they are scared of water. But I could easily understand how bodies of water could become a primal fear.

    Xindi "species" are all basically a different species entirely in my understanding what defines a Xindi, having a common ancestor? All terrestrial life goes back to a common ancestor but that does not make a, say, a dolphin part of the human species, this never made sense to me.

    • @Dave102693

      Greg Gasiorowski it makes as much sense as Pokémon in general.

    • @Mukation
      @Mukation 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They identify as the "same" species, since all are roughly equally intelligent and share a common ancestry, since they evovled on the same planet. Humans became united after realising that they where not alone in the universe. I assume the same goes for the Xindi.
