BGD have killed the graphic designs on their wings, lovely colours that look really good. I recently purchased a used BGD Wasp wing and hope to take training to be a PPG pilot in the near future. Thanks for posting.
This is so beautiful. I gotta get into this sport. I recently did 8 aff skydives. I got into skydiving because I absolutely loved the canopy flight. The jumping out of an airplane part to get there, not quite a fan yet haha.
I’m picking up the exact same wing this weekend. I’m at 58 flights now, and coming from a macpara charger, can’t wait! Any new characteristics or observations you’ve learned about the wing? Sweet review! I too am looking at the P.AP. as my next paramotor.
Great review!! Best one yet actually. I currently have 60 flights under my belt. I am flying a BGD Magic but ready to move up to my next wing. I’m torn between this and the blizzard. Do you mind me asking how many flights you have? My instructor is recommending the blizzard but I’m afraid I’m going to outgrow that one as well…
Thank you! Take this with a grain of salt, but I have around 35-40 flights. It's more up to your aptitude and just how well you are picking up this sport than your actual flight hours. I know people with 100+ hours that just haven't progressed nearly as quickly for one reason or another. Seperately, I also feel like people want to cover their own butt by recommending a 75 wing progression because you're "not ready" for this wing or that one. Nothing I've seen with the Luna would make me concerned that a competent pilot would be in over their head on it! I have no experience with the blizzard but the Luna is definitely a wing that I could see someone flying as their forever wing. It's got enough speed and maneuverability for most anyone, and not everyone is wanting to do crazy acro anyway.
@@JustOutHereTinkering thank you for the nice reply!! I know exactly what you mean by how people progress. Some have higher risk profiles and will progress faster. I haven’t botched a take off or landing since flight 15. I am not looking to do crazy acro, I just want to be able to keep up with my buddies 🤣. Stay well and look forward to your content!
@@johngemmi3576 keeping up is something the Luna does well!!! If you end up getting one let me know what you think of it! I hope you enjoy it if you do end up with one
Well done man! One of the best Luna 2 reviews I've seen! What is your all up weight under the 23M? They seem to have a wider certified weight range than almost any other wing. I'm glad to hear that the majority of the speed is in the trimmers. I fly a trike so speedbar isn't really an option for me. I'm in MI, where are you guys flying?
Thank you!!!! So my all up weight, with 6 liters of fuel in the tank is about 250lbs. the wing is rated for 308lbs roughly so ive got quite a bit of headroom. would be faster if i was nearer that limit. And we are flying out of Florida
@@JustOutHereTinkering Currently flying the Magic looking at the Luna as my second wing with my all up about 255lbs on a Maveric, are you happy with the 23M? or would you have gone with the 20M now that you have some time on yours?
@Be Good I am happy with my 23m and it's a great wing. It does depend on what your goal with the wing is. But as a second wing after your magic I would probably stick with 23m the smaller you get the faster it is and the more agile it is. I haven't flown a 20m but 3m makes a pretty big difference in my experience. Then if you want a hotter wing in a year or 2 you could. But the 23m is very capable and it's super easy to launch, stable, a great wing for sure.
@@JustOutHereTinkering your review of the Luna is by far the best. I am going to go with the 23. Thank you for taking the time out to respond. I really appreciate it!
I'm hoping you get notification of my comment. I noticed at the end of your video your wing tips steering was tied in. At least it looked like it. Would you comment on having them tied in? Good, bad, cool, scarry!
Yes I did tie the tip steering in on the wing. Highly recommend it and I dont even have any issue with how long you have been flying I feel like the 2d tie in is safe for any pilot who is flying a Luna! Makes the wing a lot more fun and dynamic. My only recommendation to you is to make a conscious effort to flare with your arms outstretched (bird flapping kind of position) as it ensures you are engaging primarily brakes.
Awesome, just the information I was seeking. I purchased a used Luna 2, 20m and flew it for 5 or so flights. Very cool, but a little small for me (56mph at 100 feet is amazing--downwind of course), but.... The original owner (friend) was happy to purchase it back. I'm getting ready to purchase a new Luna 2, 23m!@@JustOutHereTinkering
@papaalphalimaghost speed in and of itself is not a reason to get a larger wing. And yes 56mph would without a doubt be downwind in a lot of wind on a Luna. But if you are actually overweight then maybe get another larger wing.
Trained or self-taught doesnt mena anything, its about the pilot and their ability to progress. Going to PPG school is akin to going to a teenagers Drivers Education program, you learn all the basics of driving and go through the laws, but far from producing skilled drivers/pilots out of the box.
I agree with you. But someone who is thinking about self teaching to fly may go on TH-cam and search for self-taught paramotor videos. They will then find my video. Or if you want to see a review of a Luna, here's my video. Just trying to broaden my reach some lol. Also other self taught pilots can have something to relate to me on. But yes, 99% of learning occurs after schooling.
@@JustOutHereTinkering Ya, TH-camrs try hard to tread carefully on the topic, catering to the lowest skilled pilots, it was a ton of work in my end bring self-taught to maintain a perfect safety record after 40 flights, where I finally put a tiny chip in my prop on 41. Almost 60 flights now not one safety issue again.

Yes the bright colors are very much up my alley. And the wing flies great so win win. Good luck with your training!

Hahaha, ya this would definitely be right up your alley then
Thinking about getting a 20m Luna 2 myself. Live in DeLand myself if you ever want to fly with our crew.
Perhaps I'll find myself around there some day! Highly recommend the wing though!
@@JustOutHereTinkering awesome! Hit me up if you do. Thanks for the great video.
The Luna 2 is a great wing! I love mine! 🪂🪂

Pretty much guarantee it will launch easier. Only thing I don't like is the trimmers are really hard to pull in. Aside from that, amazing wing
Same view on my luns2. ;op

Which wing do you like better for a newer pilot a Solo or Luna?
First wing I would go Solo, Spyder 3, BGD Magic, not a Luna. 2nd wing a Luna is good
