    Super interesting topic, many factors involved and you did a good characterization using the same motor, prop and pilot and only changing the wing size. What you did is superior, the next test could involve the same wing and changing the loading, maybe a loading equivalent to the next size wing.

      I could try and go fly the wing with a small amount of fuel, say 2l and then go fly it completely full at 12l and see if that effects the handling characteristics of the wing. This would be about 17lbs of weight, or 7.5kg.... Thats an interesting question!

    What is most fun to fly? Carve 20 or Rpm2 20? I have flown almost all the exciting wings except the Rpm2. The Carve is my favorite so far. I like your videos especially for your trims in speeds.

      @jammer4578 Thanks! The Carve is my favorite wing over anything else I've flown. It just does everything well. One thing I've learned is dropping 1 size in the wing of your choice makes a Big difference in the agility and dynamic feel of a wing. So if you wanna to turn that 20m Carve up 30%, get an 18!
      The most fun I've had was on a 15m Warp. But I've yet to fly a 16m Carve so that could always change with a smaller Carve.

      @JustOutHereTinkering I'm sure this will sound crazy but I enjoy the responsiveness of 20 Carve over a 16 Freeride 2!? Thanks for objective videos rather than yeah it feels faster or the rpms feel slower.

    Sweet video 👍 I haven't seen a comparison like this before 👌

    So, i'm at the upper weight limit of my Ozone Spyder 28 and I usually come in for landings pretty fast with not much flare authority and have to run it off. Do you think the same wing in a 30 would make so a bit slower landings?
    Thanks for the video!

      Well, that is slightly a mixed bag in your case I think. A bigger wing will generally come in a little slower and fly a little slower. However I have experience with the spyder 3 and it just doesn't have great flare authority compared to any other wing I've ever flown. It has great inflation characteristics but flare is not great and brake pressures are heavy. Aside from that, going bigger and bringing your loading down on a wing will reduce your collapse resistance, increasing the chance that you might take one (no huge problem 99% of the time on a wing of that caliber, but the truth nonetheless. It also increases the effects of turbulence and reduces the handling characteristics of the wing. Speed on landing isn't bad as long as you can bleed it off in the flare, so a different wing all together might be the answer unless you are willing to accept those downsides I stated. I also don't know that bigger is going to help that wings flare characteristics at all...

    Any idea what the most efficient (low RPM) wing you've flown? I'm in the market for an intermediate+ wing and there are just so many options with limited info.

    • @JustOutHereTinkering
      @JustOutHereTinkering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhh... well, the Flow RPM is very very efficient. I can't directly attest to the XC version but it should alleviate most of the things I didn't like while still being very efficient and fast. The Gin Falcon is quite efficient as well. The Viper XC is also very efficient. But it's not quite that simple because the liftiest wing I have flown was the Spyder 3 in a size way too big for me. It was super low rpm but it's slow and floaty so. Any of the wings I mentioned are efficient, as is the Niviuk Qubik, the Warp is also very efficient but it has its list of down sides... The Falcon is more efficient than the Nucleon 4 but they aren't super far off and the Nuc is more chill. The Viper XC I have a mixed relationship with as you might be aware.... I love my Falcon personally. It's my favorite wing.

      @@JustOutHereTinkering Thanks. Do you think the Falcon 2 is the best all around for stable and efficiency? Prefer speed and XC more than being super agile.

    • @JustOutHereTinkering
      @JustOutHereTinkering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kent-pb2jl so it's the fastest wing I own. I have a 20m falcon 2 and it's faster than my 18m warp, it's faster than the 18m Flow RPM2, it's faster than the 22m Nuc. Stability is on par with Nuc and above the Warp and RPM2. The efficiency is slightly better on the Warp and Flow RPM2 but that's due to a very high aspect ratio. But it's better than the Nuc for efficiency. Agility the Falcon and Warp are the 2 highest, followed by RPM and then Nuc last. I feel like the Falcon is the best of all worlds for me

      Nope. Was supposed to get a demo a long time ago, I've asked twice and never got it, guy went silent and I haven't wanted to chase it down again if I'm honest...

      I've flown a lot of wings, more than I can list. My current wings I fly are the 18m Gin Carve and the 20m Falcon 2. I have others but those are my current wings I'm flying. And ya I've been flying about 2 years
