If anyone deserves to be playing at this level it’s Michael! What a talent 🤩. Question: how important is pro experience in regards to trials for a club around this level (or even below). Does experience outweigh ability or could experience be looked past if you have great ability? I’m sure a lot of us would like to know this 👊🏾.
Not a pro but playing for semi pro clubs gives me a bit of insight. I’m sure michael has a much more definitive answer but it’s a mix of skill with connections. Emphasis on connections lol. It helps to know pro players, scouts, and coaches who will put a good word for you to a team they know especially if they’re looking for a specific position. This becomes more relevant if you’re not a pro beyond that 16-17 age where players on academies can transition to reserves and the first team if they’re good enough. If I remember correctly, you can’t try out at the Red Bull’s youth academy and the reserves without a letter of recommendation from a player, scout, personnel, etc from the professional world or maybe a d1 college coach. When you know someone like that, they can be your path to a top team. I assume Michael has those connects and of course the experience, talent, work ethic, etc to be there. A guy I knew wasn’t super talented or anything but his dad knows some people and he got to play with Seattle sounders’ u23 team for a season. Hope this helps man!

That’s why I also tell people to leave good impressions because you never know that, the most bizarre connection such as your work office cleaner could be related to a clubs secretary. Or the guy you held the door open for could see you again and spark a conversation and turns out he’s a coach at a club. But I agree with you and thanks for your input bro 👊🏾

Sometimes its not about how good you are to be honest. Its about what he wants, what clubs need from a player, stuff with your agent etc. I know a year or two ago I asked him why he isn't playing in the leagues in England and he said that its not his "dream" or what he wanted.
Professional soccer is no joking. The level is high even on a second or tird tear like MSL. Michael is Very good but to Go to MLS he needs to prove on the pitch he is way better than most of the players on USL. That's possible, of course, but let's see.
Hey Michael congratulations, I joined Tulsa Roughnecks FC in 1978 and had 2 magical seasons there. We made the Playoffs in the 2nd season but lost to the Cosmos on aggregate. Man marked Beckenbaur my hero and got his shirt in another game v NYFC which was amazing. Played against Best, Cruyff, Muller, Carlos Alberto, Marsh, Francis and Neeskens when I was 21 years old. I was a pro player for 25 years and coaching now as a qualified UEFA pro license coach. Been using your skills videos throughout lockdown and the lads love them. Good luck in the new chapter of your career. Loved living in Tulsa but the tornados can be an issue.
