    That center hole on the wedge is your friend ! Makes removal of the wedge quick and easy, simply take one of the screws you already removed and screw it all the way in the center hole, as it goes in, it will begin lifting the wedge out, no prying no stress. Center screw makes life in the field much easier, we do several hundred in a season. We use small battery operated screwdrivers set with the proper amount of torque as to not damage any parts of the wedge or backflow. Your vid is very good and informative, for many . Thanks

    Very helpful video. Addresses exactly what I might be dealing with. Can hardly wait to go reinspect. Thank you

    Thanks, good video on that backflow. My son has that model and currently has water gushing from the relief valves bottom so stripping it down and back together will be easier with this video.

    I would like to put the orange insert in my basement in winter. But, with ball valves 1/2 open spiders will enter and build webs which will plug my system in spring. Are there any plugs to seal the 1/2 open ball valves?

      you could go to an Ace Hardware, Lowes, or Home Depot and get some plugs to thread in.

    So when your getting ready to take out the the backflow preventer and u turn off the water source do u need to close the inlet and outlet valve and then release the water pressure from the test cocks ?

    • @backflowsupplyslcut9394
      @backflowsupplyslcut9394  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Opening the test cocks will drain the valve to atmosphere and allow the water in the body to drain out. The inlet and outlet ball valves should be left part way open after you shut the water source off. This gives room for the water that is left in the valves room to expand. It is the best you can do if you are going to leave the assembly in place.
      As a caution some models need more attention to the main body of the assembly to get the rest of the water out. But since this comment appears to be from the 375 model you can take the plastic housing out and put it in the house.

    If you make a comment on this video and it doesn't show up please email me. I have been notified of one comment, but it is not showing up here and not allowing me to respond to a comment about leaving the #1 test cock to 45 degrees. Email sean@backflow-supply.com

    Good video but wow, can they make anything more poorly with just plastic parts!

      Thanks for the comment! Plastic parts are not for everyone. I am not sure if you are referring to the blow out fitting or the vessel. I have had no complaints on the blow out fitting. As I mention in the video these 375 vessels do not stand up to a light freezing. I see a lot of cracked housings. For those not familiar with the brass assemblies, they too can crack if not winterized.
      However, if people are aware of this and take care not to freeze it, this model is just as good as any other. I have come to realize that all models have strengths and weaknesses. As long as we know what they are and take care of it accordingly one is just as good as another.

      @@backflowsupplyslcut9394 Is the cracked cylinder repairable with sealers, silicone, etc.? Having trouble seeing which size of blow out insert to match my system. I have the MODEL 375 RP 175 PSIG 1.2MPa Good video, well done.

      @@larryroberts2945 sorry for the delay in responding. When you say cracked cylinder are you talking about the orange blow out fitting or the black vessel? I wouldn't recommend trying to do it to the black one, and don't think you would get it to work and have it pass a test. The orange blow out fitting you might be able to buy a little time trying to fix it, but they are inexpensive enough.
      What size is your 375? It would be on the side of the ball valve, both would have the size on it.
