This episode was so beautiful. It was a pleasure to be with Elder Neuenschwander. His talks on ordinances and covenants have guided my thoughts and learning over years. Today was no exception. This was a beautiful conversation.
I remember meeting Elder Neuenschwander when i lived in Moscow USSR in 1981-1983. Our little family of 4 was our branch. There, I saw people who were our enemies - but I also came to see that they were my brothers and sisters. Although they, the soviet citizens did not really want to interact with us ( we were their enemy) and we were not to preach the gospel... I wondered when they might have the gospel preached freely in their country. We will continue to pray that it resumes again soon. Thank you both for your discussion today.
I love this. It goes along with Sister Yee's words from Oct. 2024. 'I pray we may lay aside any “weapons of war” that we’ve consciously or even unconsciously taken up to defend ourselves from the blessings of God’s love. Weapons of pride, selfishness, fear, hate, offense, complacency, unrighteous judgment, jealousies-anything that would keep us from loving God with all our hearts and keeping all our covenants with Him.'
@@ClarkClub The more I think about Mormon's comments of not delighting anymore in bloodshed, the more I see ways it applies to all of us if we will think in terms of not delighting in any kind of contention or rebellion.
I love it when the insights I receive in my personal study are reflected in the ideas your guests put forward. It makes me feel in tune! It doesn't happen every week, but it's delightful when it does!
Patriarch Neuenschwander thank you for coming on this podcast. I served as a missionary from 93-95 in Poland so thank you for your grand efforts there both seen and unseen. Listening to you today brought me back to my mission again for a while. Israel is truly gathering and we have the privilege of participating in our tiny way
Just finished a session of sealings at the Taylorsville Temple and listen to this on the way home. We did a multitude of names from all over the world and I agree with him it's wonderful to do ordnance work for people all over the world.
Thank you both so much amen, awesome sharing. My insight for today was even though many innocent people will be caught up in the things that will disrupt our comfort, sometimes these things bring out the best in humanity. ie people searching neck deep in slush to find any living in a flood (Spain) The Lord and His Atonement is in it all. Also maybe in this humanity the adversary is being hindered, and souls are being saved.
"Know ye that ye must lay down your weapons of war" (Mormon 7:4) .. I think this can refer to our baptismal covenants. We are to mourn with those that mourn, comfort those that need comfort, stand as a witness of God. Those are hard things to do when you hold on to your own personal weapons of war. Its hard to keep your baptismal covenants when you hold on to the pain of grudges and wear it proudly as a battle scar, when you throw up walls around you and fire a barrage of munitions at anyone that desires to minister to you. Holding your weapons of war means never trusting your priesthood leaders, it means looking for offense when none is intended. It means looking for flaws in those around you so you can feel justified in holding onto your pain. If we want to "lay hold of the gospel of Christ" (mormon 7:8) , we need to free our hands of our weapons of war.
Sister Yee & Elder Christofferson both spoke about laying down our "weapons of war" in the latest general conference (Oct. 2024). Both of their messages support this idea.
I wonder if Mormon's final instruction to his son, when he asks him to finish his record.. was that he asked him to teach about our Savior's Atonement. I love that chapter 9 teaches of the Redemption of Christ.
"If you don't know who you are - then being anybody is good enough." Very profound. Thank you for bringing him on. So inspirational.
We are blessed by him!

He has taught us all so much!

We all pray for that! I am glad the discussion was helpful.

Yes I was grateful also to feel we are all being given insights from the Holy Ghost and it is really lovely when we can be together and be taught.
That is a wonderful and cool thing. Thanks for sharing! I am glad to know that happens.

What a wonderful blessing! Both for you and for the people you gathered!

There is such joy and power in the gathering!
Thank you for the wonderful conversation and message. I feel uplifted and empowered by the Spirit.
I am thrilled if it was edifying for you!
I appreciated this episode so much and Elder Neuenschwander perspective. I always learn something new. Thank you Kerry
There was a lot to learn from him!
Zion exists in the Temple. We are gathered to the fold. Appreciate the thoughts shared and the content. What a great time to be on the Earth.
Oh isn't that true!!!!!!
I loved that list of blessings and qualities from being a member and following Jesus Christ (29:30)- wow!!
There is so much to learn from this!

Yes. It is so nice to see the best in people come out!

Beautifully said!
This is such a great exploration of that crucial phrase. I will be a better man because of your comments. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful!

Whether in the final instruction or in dozens and hundreds of instructions, it is clear Moroni got that message.
Mormon 7:2 -- Know ye that ye are of the house of Israel. Powerful words for his people and also for us.
I hear Mormon trumpeting that in my head again and again!
Garden of Eden is in the US (Missouri?)
So no worries...
True, although now it is sadly gone. Looking forward to when it comes back.
