Over 45 years ago I was at a party with drinking buddies. One of them, an 18 year old and very inactive member of the LDS church got into a debate with another guy about the Book of Mormon. He told his friend, with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in another, telling him that although he was not exactly the best example of a Mormon, he would know the B of M to be true, if he really prayed earnestly about it, while reading. I was stunned! He had no agenda. That get together that night haunted me , until months later and did just that, once I got the book from another Mormon friend. I was overcome with the the Holy Spirit that testified of the truth of it. I am now a still faithful 67 year old.
Turns out this process fails. I read the book prayerfully. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. But the spirit testified to me otherwise. Great Christian fiction though and I mean that. I really enjoyed it.
@@orangemanbad Turns out one needs to humble oneself, in order to get a spiritual confirmation, while reading it. If I pick up a book with the underlying attitude that it’s not going to confirm anything, then it won’t. Additionally, I have had several other spiritual experiences, which further confirms the truth of all of the LDS Church, in its entirety. Because, it’s either all true, or simply all hogwash. There’s no middle ground.
This is so very uplifting. I’ve loved the Book of Mormon since I joined the church 31 years ago. It truly has the fullness of the Gospel and is a true testament to the divinity of our Savior Jesus Christ.
This has brought me, just like this, a clarity, greater understanding, love you brother Millet. I been following you for years without knowing it... 🇬🇧 3:13
“Exposed the enemies of Christ. “ This is so true! You recognize the enemies of Christ in our time because of the Book of Mormon. Because Moroni speaks so directly to us. I began to write to my children/posterity with my journal & scripture journal entries.
This is a wonderful testimony of the Bible and Book of Mormon from someone who has studied and taught them both for 40 years. I loved the clarification of the three vital levels/stages of the Book of Mormon - (1) the story/narrative that provides the context for the doctrine, (2) the doctrine/teachings, and (3) the personal encounter - internalizing and incorporating the doctrine in our lives ("we sought and found Christ and you can too!") I believe and love the Bible and Book of Mormon!
For me, bringing the two together helps me to understand God more. I’m not an intellectual. I’m the opposite. When someone can speak clearly and plainly I soak it up like a sponge.
I just finished reading his book "Talking with God" loved it, simply brilliant. Loved the personal stories about his Uncle Joseph. It is another one of his books that helps me draw closer to the Father and his Son. Bro. Millet thank you so much for sharing the stories.
The Verdict is it’s true. It’s fruits are good . The devil would not preach of Christ. I have never felt any evil reading the Book of Mormon. It’s a history and another testament of Jesus Christ. I know it’s true .
Hi President Millet I joined the church when you taught institute and you were in the Stake Presidency in Tallahassee. My dear mother had the will and wisdom to drive me to Tallahassee from Perry and we attended your institute classes. How did you feel when the announcement for a temple in Tallahassee came? I cried for about an hour and still well up over this miracle. I wish I knew scriptures better. I've always given my privilege of attending your institute classes as the reason why I have held on to the iron rod as much as I have. With that sure foundation I was a bit lazy in my scripture study. Now I am confused about what you said in this video about the Godhead. Your testimony will stay with me forever. I am going to get to work and figure this out. Why did you say this here, now, on a video headed for TH-cam when we just studied the First Vision in Come, Follow Me and no one mentioned this? I have a lot to study and pray about. I hope all is well with you and your family. Thank you for sharing your testimony.
Carolyn, your story is beautiful and touching. Can you explain your question about the Godhead? What did you find confusing? Maybe some of us here can discuss and clarify.
I am confused at about time 8:15 by Robert Milet's statement, "Christ is God." I have studied Mosiah chapter 15. I realize Christ and God are unified in purpose. I thought that was what is so instructive about the First Vision, that for once and for all someone could tell us- Jesus Christ and His Father are two separate beings.
I listened again at time 8:17 and I hear the words Brother Millet is using to explain Christ is God. I agree with him but, I think many people need Joseph Smith's First Vision experience added here to expel any confusion and all the other places in the New Testament and 3 Nephi 11:7 where there are two personages.
@@carolynquffa6 Okay, it seems your concern is that some might think he's saying Christ and God the Father are one personage. You're right, we believe they are separate heavenly beings with one purpose or goal; different than the trinitarian view. I feel his intention at 8:15 is to expand our understanding (beyond that they are separate beings united in the common mission of redemption): Jehovah in the Old Testament is Christ, just as the God who instructs prophets and disciples in the Book of Mormon is Christ. God the Father had this plan of Salvation and Christ is the 'executor' of the Father's plan. He is not only our older brother, He is a God and is thereby our connection to the Father. He is our connection to mercy, life and light, and divine help. He acts under the direction of the Father. Does that help clarify?
What a wonderful way to spend almost an hour listening to Br. Millet share his thoughts on the Book of Mormon & the Bible. For his friend who said the Book of Mormon is from the devil. That friend should read Matt. 7:15-20 “...by their fruits ye shall know them”.
Love him and his testimony! I’ve attended several of his classes at Education Week over the years and I love learning about the gospel through his research and knowledge.
Wonderful interview! My experience was that when i read the book of Mormon i came to appreciate the Bible. My first love is the Book of Mormon and i have not yet had that same love for the Bible. I do think as a church we are more loving of the Book of Mormon. I think that it is one thing I could work on more. When i think of the Bible i think of a book that has had plain and precious truths removed but still had enough truth to change the world, bring in the protestant reformation and gave us our unique American Constitution. Im grateful for it but recognize how much confusion it has brought people.
I understand that some things about the church sound crazy. Angels, gold plates, a boy talking with God etc., but if you read the B of M and you listen to our current prophet and apostles speak and you think logically about everything, you will have to actively TRY and not believe. It's just so clear. I don't understand how people don't see it. But most people aren't searching for truth, only things that will validate their feelings and position.
If you look at most things in the Bible, dying and rising again, talking donkeys, angels appearing, demons being cast out, lepers healed by bathing 7 times in the river, walls falling dwn by walking around them 7 times, the Red Sea dividing and thousands of ppl walking to the other side, feeding thousands w only a few loaves of bread … it all sounds pretty crazy to me. Anything showing forth the power of God looks crazy to the natural man. God is a God of miracles and His ways are not our ways. Who are we to tell Him how to do His work or accomplish His purposes? We can all better learn to see and hear w our spiritual ears and eyes and stop setting limitations on God, His power and purposes in our lives and the lives of others.
I find everything in Mormonism goes nicely with what we know happened in the bible...angels, parting of seas, mighty miracles...GOD is trying to help us believe in HIM by bringing the church back to the earth
I have seen miracle in different places and times in my life I believe not just know that Joseph Smith is a great prophet.and things he was given to write as in the transition from the Book of Mormon by the heavenly helpers and he said it's not for the rest of us to know. Then writing other things came from Jesus Christ and Holy Ghost And we continue to have a prophet today. Today is Russell M Nelson ❤️🙏

The Book of Mormon is a plain and precious gift of truth from the Eternal Father; the entire book when spoken as one word is the very name of the Holy Ghost.
The name of Jesus is plainly on full display inside the dome of the rock on the Jerusalem Temple Mount. The Mormons speak of a Jesus and Billy Graham led multitudes to Jesus. They can all be wrong but they can't all be right. My Jesus is the Jesus of the Word of God, the Bible.
There is no way Muhammad could have written the Koran on his own. So that means it’s true, right? This argument is so weak. It’s basically saying “based on the story that Joseph and his friends told, they couldn’t have conspired to commit a fraud, because they said so.” Just a bit naive. Meanwhile, all the evidence completely refutes the Book of Mormon’s historicity.
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. 👇 Apostle James Talmage wrote, "...who, in his right mind could for one moment suppose the Bible in its present form to be a perfect guide? Who knows that even one verse of the Bible has escaped pollution." (Divine Authority of the Book of Mormon, p. 47) Joseph Smith himself said, "Many insertions were made, some of them 'slanted' for selfish purposes, while at times deliberate falsifications and fabrications were perpetrated" (As Translated Correctly, p. 4). The translation of the King James bible wss done by people working for king James. The latin Vulgate was done by papal scholars. The Lutheran (German translation) was done by Martin Luther. And so on. Each version of the bible reflected the understanding and biases of the translators. This is why we have to temper our belief with the clause "as far as it is translated correctly." On top of that the source documents for each of the translations have unverifiable provenances themselves. Many forget that many portions of The Book of Mormon came in the middle of The Old Testament and before The New Testament. Why do we even need the book of Mormon when there is the Bible already? The problem is that the rest of Christianity reads the bible and they can't agree on many points of doctrine, The Book of Mormon is a companion to the Bible that helps clear up some of those points and clarifies others. It helps to put down false doctrines and establish correct ones.
To say that there is no way Joseph Smith could have written the Book Of Mormon with his educational background is demeaning. To me neither you Robert Millet co authoring with Hugh Nibley could write the Book of Mormon with all your education and with time limits of 3 years let alone 3 months.
Please clarify: 1) Eternal Father still exists? Sounds like your concept in this talk, listened three times, that God, The Father, is not. It is Jesus Christ. Can’t believe that. 2) growth for a person in this life will continue, but only on those issues we had no chance to learn? If denied here, no chance in the beyond.
