  • We do a short tabletop review of the Lithgow Arms LA101 Rimfire Rifle in .22lr. This Australian-made precision rimfire rifle impressed us and those competitors who shot it during our match. Many thanks to Mark G. and the team at Trigger Wholesale Inc. for lending us the rifle for the season so our competitors can try it out.
This is a precision rimfire rifle that is accurate out of the box and ready to ring steel. We put it through its paces at a recent match and got first round hits from 50m to 185m and 275 meters. The Nikko Stirling Diamond FFP 4-16x44mm scope was also a pleasant surprise with its feature rich content and relatively low price.
Take a look at the video and see what our thoughts are.

There's a reason these are very popular here in Australia! Thanks for the rundown, great to see the Lithgow getting some traction in Canadian comps!

Great Aussie made rifle. You won’t find a better off the shelf bolt action 22lr rifle.

"Lith-go", mate. Rhymes with snow, not with cow. :D

If you're looking for some insanely consistent and accurate ammo for this, my LA101 absolutely loves _SK standard plus subsonics_
I've tried quite a few different brands of ammo in the LA101, the SK's come out on top every time.
I'm about to test out some _RWS subsonics_ and some _SK rifle match subsonics_ in a few hours. Might update this when I'm done.
    Edit:
Comparison of _SK Standard Plus, SK Rifle match, RWS Subsonic HP, Eley Subsonic Holow points_ 5 shot groups at about 50 metres.

@@johnatkinson3218 No problems. I've switched from the SK standard plus to the RWS subsonics, primarily for safety reasons.
I get quite a few wallabies here and need to "lower their numbers" every now and again. The SK's are a solid round and have a tendency to go straight through them sometimes, which is obviously a bit of a problem for anything behind the wallabies. The RWS are hollow points and I don't have that problem when I use them.
From memory, the price is about the same.

I have two Lithgows and Laphroig Quarter Cask. Don’t mix them though....
