A short video experiencing the wonderful Waxwings at Hassop Station near Bakewell. The light was awful so the images aren't the best, but still a morning to remember.
The sound of them is amazing Stewart. We have a few locally but like you say the crowds gather so I have not gone to see them yet. They also tend to be around the housing estates. Great video and Happy New Year to you mate. Cheers Keith
Thanks Keith, Happy new year to you too. The sound was recorded separately and overlaid. I couldn't really hear it on previous visits as there were too many excited people.
Hi, managed to get there myself couldn’t believe how many photographers were there, first time I’ve seen waxwings managed to get some beautiful pictures myself throughly enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip
Yes Alan it does turn into a bit of a free for all. Thankfully the birds don't seem to mind the attention. I'm really glad you managed to get there to se & photograph them. Thanks for watching.
Incredible sound Stuart. It's like being in the midst of frogs when spawning. Penetrating! They're lovely birds too. Thanks for the capture. Mark
Thanks Mark. I must confess that I did a separate audio recording and overlaid it. The camera mic wouldn't have done it justice.
@@Derbyshire_bird_tours A pleasure Stuart - hey I would have done the same thing.
Absolute beauties….what a find.
Thanks for sharing
Happy New Year🙏🏻
So Beautiful Stewart & Yes excellent pictures of those graceful elegant & punky hair Waxwings Got to love them alongside the Joy we get from them
Thanks David, really appreciate that.
Brilliant, thanks Stuart, been a couple of times, just magical

Brilliant footage and photos mate. Ive ducked out twice local to me here in Manchester but been fortunate enough to have seen them in the past.
Thank you, they are fabulous.
Well done nice shots. Seen some my self in Gainsborough 22nd December fantastic.
They are wonderful Gary.
Great video Stewart. Can't decide which was best; the birds themselves, or your own obvious delight with them!
Cheers Dave. They are stunning. Hope you're doing OK. Take care.

You really should. Not many berries left now.
Nice! The one at 1:25 is ringed. 👍🐦
Yes, I couldn't make out if it had any coloured rings on its other leg.
