The funny thing is, I love babies and children because their so adorable and fun to play with, but when they puke, I run away crying and I have a panic attack. As much as I love kids, I don't know if I want one until I can overcome my emetophobia.
I like kids too! But I’ve had emetophobia for as long as I can remember and exposure therapy (how I encountered this video) has only made it worse. I tried other forms of therapy, all failed. I want to baby sit, but having a panic attack and possibly hurting myself or the child is too risky 😕
Here. I will bolt out of the room if someone has a chocking nauseating cough. I hate vomit especially when people are drinking alcohol. It really freaks me out. I cannot be in the same room as them at all.
Same. When I was in 3rd grade, I was in library and this one boy named Owen threw up all over the place. I was right next to him!! I was so scared that I ran out of the library and ran all the way to my teacher and starting crying uncontrollably. Thank god she was understanding. 😅

This video is actually pretty smart. I have emetophobia and the way they direct you to not show your disgust is a great way for children not to fear vomiting!
I'm three weeks into exposure therapy (via video call) for my severe anxiety over it. I am so reluctant for every session and every bit of homework I have to do. But I'm getting married soon and if I want to be able to handle my husband getting sick, being pregnant and feeling sick, or future children getting sick, I have to get over myself and put my big girl pants on. The phobia stems from control issues and needing to feel in control at all times. So I would definitely recommend seeing someone and starting there if you're not ready for exposure. I have struggled with it for 20 years and I need to move forward with my life (haven't even puked in 17 years).
Same I have a recurring fear someone will throw up beside me and I’ll get it on me and I am vegetarian. Mostly bc I’m scared if I eat raw chicken I’ll throw up I’m so scared I need help.
LEMONGAMES _101 I’m terrified of it when ever somebody coughs or says that they feel sick I ask if I can move last time I cried in public and fainted watching this it was terrorfying lol 🤮😢😂
This is a HUGE reason why I quit working with children. I have the most irrational fear of vomit and it’s only gotten worse over the years. I immediately go into a full blown panic attack! 🤮
Little kids are amazing I love seeing their smiles and helping out and yeah the money 💵 is nice too but I have fear of vomit and as soon as a child says they stomach hurts ima nope out of there 🏃🏻✈️🚘❌
In school at lunch or in class there’s always that kid next to me that says “my tummy hurts” And I’m leaning the other direction so they don’t vomit on me
I come into these situations a lot. I just don't do it for the money, I do it because I love kids. If this does happen to you, follow these simple guidelines. 1. Handle the child first, have that child lay down on his/her bed, or even the couch. don't forget a bag, bucket just in case 2. Clean up the mess, if there is one, don't leave the parents a surprise 3. Contact the parents of the situation, give them the details of what happened, they should come home. I once had to babysit a child who had a bug, parents told me in advanced, and I knew exactly what to do. Just make sure they have something next to them at all times. And don't forget the "BRAT" diet, Banana, Rice, Apples/Apple Sauce, Toast. I do that in case a child is sick.
That's a tough one! Honestly, you probably don't want to take on a babysitting job because like I said in the video, you don't always get a warning sign before a kid pukes. I would definitely reach out to your doctor for help overcoming a phobia of vomiting. Maybe with a doctor's help, you can tolerate it a little better and then be able to start babysitting!
Its weird how I am afraid to throw up but I do it all the time I get carsick, seasick, motion sickness and when I see someone vomit I vomit like 3 hours later, its weird
Here is the truth of my story: So my friend covered her mouth and i thought she was surprised or something, then she whispered to the teacher, and went to the bathroom, then i said “teacher bathroom pls” so i thought we would talk together in the bathroom, but then she came out and said i will tell you later.. then when she told me, she said “ i threw up because of the lunch smell” and i was like WAT? So then after 7 min, she looked like she was gonna throw up again, i covered my ears an turned around and sweating to death...
This reminds me of a time when I was babysitting and I had to vomit. I just made sure the kids were watching TV at the highest volume and went to the bathroom to vomit. I happened to get there just in time. This was a few years ago and still neither the parents nor the kids know that I vomited😅Hopefully they aren’t reading my comment right now! Turns out I actually had a pretty bad case of the stomach flu😂
I love kids. I’m only 13 and vomiting is consuming my thoughts. I wanna be supportive, but if they have the stomach bug, I’m going to get it since it’s highly contagious
IDK why, but this video totally sets off my emetophobia, which I thought I had gotten over years ago. It's the one problem with me wanting to start babysitting.
That's a good idea! Let me give you some helpful information. For a cut ... if the cut is small, rinse it with clean water. Pat it dry and use antibiotic ointment and a bandage. If the cut is on the face or it is a large cut, you need to call a back-up adult for help. If it is rapidly pumping blood, you need the professionals for this one! Put a clean cloth over the cut and press firmly. Have the child lie down and call 9-1-1. Continue to apply pressure until 9-1-1 arrives. Broken bones are serious. Don't move the child if you suspect a broken bone. Call 9-1-1 if there is obvious swelling or deformity with a break in the skin. If you aren't sure if it's broken, call a back-up adult to help evaluate the situation. I also recommend taking a Safe Sitter class like I did! You'll learn so much about first aid and you get to learn choking rescue with manikins! (That was my favorite part!) You can find a class near you by visiting safesitter.org/find-a-class/. Thanks for your comment!
You won't sob. You'll pull yourself together, take care of the kid, and be awesome. (And then you'll go home and sob and maybe have a bad dream about puke. It's normal!)
I’m going to start babysitting in a few days, and this is one of the things i’m worried about the most. I can’t deal with anything that has to do with throw up. Anytime i see, hear, smell anyone (including myself) throw up i automatically fall into these shaking fits, my whole body, it almost looks like i’m having a seizure that’s how bad it gets, I start to hyperventilate, and it’s going to be really hard to be on my own if this happens, cause i obviously can’t just leave the room and avoid it especially when the kids im babysitting are toddlers
Some kids throw up when they get really upset and cry a lot. You might want to ask the parent if this is something their child does. If they don't, you'll probably be okay.
I honestly think that vomit is real but thank you! You have just made my fear of vomit better (not fully but you have my my fear better) just wanted to thank you a lot xx
I had to deal with this type of situation today, and I just do what I normally do(read my comment below). Yes, it's not fun, and I do feel bad. But you know, we've all done it before. Thank you Babysitter Boss for making these video. ❤❤😊😊
I baby sit but not often but I do work with children a lot and this is my worst fear especially well babysitting because I have whatever the phobia is called a saw but I don’t feel like typing it out. I remember one vomiting instance from when I was like two years old a little and I don’t remember anything else. I always get yelled at for being rude but I really can’t help it I start shaking and I have a panic attack I do really hope that if I did get into a situation like this I would be able to stay somewhat calm and although I wouldn’t be patting any throwing up kids back I do think I could manage if I absolutely had to and try and comfort the kid. I really do want to have kids but I definitely need to work on this first but no matter how hard I try it doesn’t work! Animal vomit doesn’t give me any anxiety but human!
Aw poor thing. I babysit all the time. In fact, just the other day a little boy that I watch threw up all over me :( it wasn't fun but a babysitter knows what to do! 😄
I know it sounds weird but when someone vomits in a room next to me my heart starts pounding and I always cover my ears and hide 😂 and I always get kinda scared but I'm not really scared it's kinda hard to explain
I would honestly recommend having them go to the toilet as well if they say that they feel like they are gonna throw up. It’s also the easiest to clean cuz you literally just gotta flush the toilet and problem solved lol
Yeah just set them us with some blankets, an iPad or something in the bathroom and then they are kind of all contained and they normally would have several places to puke if they had to
I remember this one kid I used to babysit would throw up if he started to play after he ate. So we started a rule that after eating, he had to sit down and watch TV or something for at least 30 minutes before any physical activity. This worked well, and only one other time did he forget and threw up after he got up to chase his dog after eating, while I was reviewing homework. He was rarely sick, the one time he was, I kept a trash can nearby because he said he felt sick but he just kept spitting in it. I also have emetophobia, but because I'm also good at compartmentalization, if I can rationally explain why somebody threw up for reasons other than an illness (being drunk or pregnant, eating too much, etc.) then I can tolerate it.
Fk that. Or your cousin's parents can take a few days off of work so they can look after their own child?? Why would they want to put that on you. It could be gastro and highly contagious, then you'll catch it, and next thing, you'll be the one vomiting
I have gotten quite used to puke. The 2 year old I watched puked a few times a week because of certain textures he felt in his mouth, if the dogs licked his face etc. I got very good at predicting a vomit spell before it happened, sometimes we would make it to the sink or something and sometimes I'd be puked on, his sister would be puked on and he'd get himself soaked.
I agree with you it’s not too bad after but no one like throwing up it’s worse when it’s like a baby or toddler because well they don’t always know to do the in garage or toilet
my bff and i were having a sleepover and she threw up all over the room and we were alone just with my and her bf and i was holding her hair but the rlly bad part is that i ended up passing out
I had a kid puke on me once while I was working in a pre school. I was sitting next to him while all the kids were sitting around the table. He gave warning saying he feels like he's going to puke. Lead teacher didn't allow him to go to the sink (long story), so he told me again and before I could say anything he puked all over my lap. I lived an hour away from that school and my mom (thankfully she didn't work that day) brought me a change of clothes. My employer was amazing (he's a gem) and let me go home instead of spend the last hour working in a change of clothes with my puked clothes in a bag.
I'm so sad I've just watched every single one of ur vids they are so helpful in turning 13 next year in April that's when I'm going to start propaly with payment
My step dad has 2 dogs and when they vomited I ran away and my step dad cleaned it up but when it happens again I will help him clean it up and pull my self together 👍😉
also that kid who was'' throwing up'' looked really actually sick I hope he wasent but if he wasent he is the best actor who throws up I have ever seen no one i mean no one i have ever seen before as an actor can throw up that realisticly with out it being real I cant belive he is facking iit
Me feeling like throwing up is the worst ever because of my emetophobia things that can happen when you have this: avoiding food so much that you wake up in the middle of the night so hungry having really bad anxiety, crying one someone is throwing up a family member gets it and you lock yourself in your room..
I'm an emetophobe. But if I was babysitting a child and that child got sick and needed to barf, I would just hold the child over the toilet and comfort him/her as if he/she was my own child.
Any advice? I babysat my 7 year old nephew Deaglan today and he really needed to throw up but I completely freaked out and just got him to the bathroom quick and ran back to my room. He really wanted me to rub his back though but I can't even look at puke. I get nauseous immediately especially when I walked in there. His puke stunk and it made me sick but I felt so bad for not being there for him. Should I habe rubbed his back and helped him?
Great question. Yes, the best babysitters know that they should always provide comfort to kids. Especially if they are sick or scared. It is great you got him to the bathroom, but he was probably scared. It might take some practice, but you'll be strong enough to deal with puke.

I'm a recovering emetophobic. I do still have my moments but after four months of counselling two years ago, I have more control over it.
Woman in the moment: *Kid dont throw up please!*
*OMG why am I such an idiot now I have to clean vomit from the tub before his parents come home.*
Just saying, having a fear of vomit or being grossed out by vomit doesn’t necessarily mean you have emethaphobia
Can you do what to do if they are bleeding
See crafty animates comment below!
its easy clean the blood and put a bandage
I have serious emetophobia i start crying every time I hear the word throwing up or see someone throwing up😢😢😢😢😢😢
I love at 1:04 she chose a bowl with holes in it
It's polka dots on the bowl and now that I see it, it does look like that!
@@BabysitterBossthat would have been messy!
I know it sounds weird but when someone vomits in a room next to me my heart starts pounding and I always cover my ears and hide 😂 and I always get kinda scared but I'm not really scared it's kinda hard to explain
Same
I do that too! I put ear plugs in and listen to really loud music 🎶

Me while sleeping when my mom vomits: *SLEEPS SOO DEEPLY*
If anyone at my school or someone in my family throws up i ecpect them to shower before they touch me or else i will never look at them the same
Yeah same lol
You guys say you have emetophobia, then why are you watching this video? the word ‘throw up’ is literally in the video.
I would honestly recommend having them go to the toilet as well if they say that they feel like they are gonna throw up. It’s also the easiest to clean cuz you literally just gotta flush the toilet and problem solved lol
Yeah just set them us with some blankets, an iPad or something in the bathroom and then they are kind of all contained and they normally would have several places to puke if they had to
I hope you get a lot of likes and subscribers😊
Eeekkkk my emetaphobia is racciinnnggg
Ella The weirdo sameeeee
If thats fear of vomit-SAME Thats why Im scared of babysitting-
SSSSAAAAAAMMMMMEEEEEEE
I have to watch this for exposure therapy and it’s hell 💀🙏
Me to I watch these to get over my phobia my mom said I’m being dramatic but I’m pretty sure I have a phobia of throwing up
I remember I used to Throw up a lot when I was a kid. 🤮
I am a lunch helper at my school and I had a child puke all over my leg!! It was so crazy.
Luckily for me if I have to babysit a sick child and they throw up I have what I like to call an iron stomach
I needed this so much because tomorrow I'm watching my 4-year-old cousin who has been throwing up non-stop lately
Good job!
when you have emetophobia and ur planning on having kids in the future and you want to know what to do
I agree with you it’s not too bad after but no one like throwing up it’s worse when it’s like a baby or toddler because well they don’t always know to do the in garage or toilet
“Grab a bowl just in-case“
*get a bowl with holes*
Hey strainers exist for a reason, right?
It’s not holes it’s a design I think
It’s just the design
The King Of The Beasts yep
I'm never going to have kids when I grow up that's for sure
Me too
my bff and i were having a sleepover and she threw up all over the room and we were alone just with my and her bf and i was holding her hair but the rlly bad part is that i ended up passing out
When I see people throw up I start shaking😊
My emetophobia: oh, HEY!
The Bathtub is only a last resort if it comes suddenly but the Toilet is the best option reduces the malderous smell that lingers a while
My step dad has 2 dogs and when they vomited I ran away and my step dad cleaned it up but when it happens again I will help him clean it up and pull my self together 👍😉
also that kid who was'' throwing up'' looked really actually sick I hope he wasent but if he wasent he is the best actor who throws up I have ever seen no one i mean no one i have ever seen before as an actor can throw up that realisticly with out it being real I cant belive he is facking iit
Looks really real 😂
*Her about to puke*
The babysitter:HOLD ON LET ME GET MY CAMERA
I’m so glad that I’m not easily grossed out 😅
Me feeling like throwing up is the worst ever because of my emetophobia things that can happen when you have this: avoiding food so much that you wake up in the middle of the night so hungry having really bad anxiety, crying one someone is throwing up a family member gets it and you lock yourself in your room..
I babysitting a lot and they all way cry and say mom where are you 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
And know you will most likely come down with the bug in a few days...stomach bugs are really contagious...
When I see people puke I don’t feel disgusted :/
Neither do I. I just get scared. People find it perplexing lol
I’m planing on being a babysitter thanks for the tip I needed it
“The Money.”
I'm an emetophobe. But if I was babysitting a child and that child got sick and needed to barf, I would just hold the child over the toilet and comfort him/her as if he/she was my own child.
The money😂😂😂😂😂
God bless May God be with you and guide you❤
some in my math class puked in the trash and moved to my table and puked on it. so i am officially demonetised
That's gross.
@@BabysitterBoss Thank you! That really helped!
I have emetophobia (fear of vomit) and I really didn’t want to watch this video but at the same time I always end up watching it xd
And it helped, right?
Same
Omg Same
I like how you say something and then you say the money 💰
