When you understand the definition of "popular" you can answer correctly. " 'Popular' - liked, admired, or enjoyed by many people or by a particular person or group." Based on this definition my top 3 in no particular order is Nigeria ,Kenya/Tanzania , Egypt. Why? Nigeria's music and movies are loved worldwide and admired. Kenya/Tanzania are very popular worldwide for wild life and tourisn. Egypt is popular worldwide for tourism and archeology.. Key work for me is known admired WORLDWIDE for something. A place like south africa can be said to be "popular " because of Mandela and apathied struggle.. those are the things that would come to mind if an international random person is asked about it.
But you can go a step further and add some objectivity like which ones are on more bucket lists than others based on what visitors expect to experience when they visit. Egypt and Ethiopia have history Kenya Tanzania South Africa have beautiful nature and climate etc
For me, sincerity every African country is very popular, the world views Africa as the poorest continent thus making every country in Africa popular. It doesn't matter if we are rich or not, we are popular and we rock as one big team.

The question is which of those African countries are more known to the rest of the world compared to others. We share very little with Arabs/North Africa and that's why even in most cases sub-saharan Africa is categorised separately from Middle East and North Africa. It will help if you read widely on economics, politics etc. The Arab league has all North African countries as part of it with Muslim majority West African countries not being a part of it. Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Algeria have very little to compare with Kenya and in fact whilst they may be a bit richer than Kenya in terms of GDP per capita they have no influence on Africa like Kenya does. How don't you know that, see the ignorance? Rugby was just added to the olympics the other day and only the Sevens version not the real rugby. By the way Kenya beat SA in 7s to qualify for olympics and SA has to go through eliminations to get to olympics. Clearly it is not yet a mainstream sport. Outside of the Southern hemisphere countries of SA, Australia, NZ and Argentina and the Northern hemisphere of England, Scotland, Wales, France and Ireland, the rest of the rugby teams are not very competitive. Of course Kenya is a powerhouse in rugby 7s. Don't even mention olympics and SA in one sentense, I can count the medals you have won in all the olympics you have participated. Everyone knows only Kenya and Ethiopia wins gold for Africa at olympics and major world championships. As for geopolitics, you are exaggerating SA's influence. Kenya has more international bodies in Africa than any other in Africa - UNEP, UN Habitat, IOM, IGAD etc and the largest US embassy in Africa and top 3 in the world! Do your homework son!

For me, sincerity every African country is very popular, the world views Africa as the poorest continent thus making every country in Africa popular. It doesn't matter if we are rich or not, we are popular and we rock as one big team.
Sweet as that may be. The fact of the matter is that Africa is a continent and it has countries that belong to it. The question is which of those African countries are more known to the rest of the world compared to others. That doesn't mean though that there are better ones compared to the others and doesn't take away our desires to unite as one

Kenya is by far the most recognised middle and long distance and marathon champions with talent that flows freely from one generation to the next. The Kenya women volleyball team has dominated African continent for the last 2 decades. The country with the most gold medals in Olympics and championships in Africa. The Maasai tribe of Kenya and TZ are the most recognized tribe in the whole of Africa. The cradle of mankind is Kenya. The safari capital (wildlife) of the world is Kenya. Kenya is bestraddled by the equator in equal halves giving it a varied climate and landscape. Nigeria for the mere fact of its massive population. Best footballers Africa has ever produced. Its Nollywood industry, a rich culture and of course with Afrobeats which has put it on the map. SA for being the most developed country in Africa, a rich culture, Amapiano which is slowly becoming mainstream outside of SA/Southern Africa, it's apartheid history, for me BRICS is still not a force and the roping in of other countries in it has diluted SA influence on it. It's domination of SADC area in everything. Kenya the big boy of East and Central Africa, Nigeria the big boy of West Africa and SA the big boy of Southern Africa. I've limited myself on sub-sahara Africa countries because we share little with North Africans/Arabs apart from geography.

Intermsof sports rugby is 2nd most popular and cricket 3rd if not forth... SA got most varied sports medals at olympics from swimming, long jump, cayaking, even short distance, javelin, hurdles,.... Geo politics we always there... Geo politocs is what shapes the world.
In terms of entertainment, SA has richest music sector that's why universal, sony and warner music has their headquaters in south africa. And also has most win than any African countries combined.... Amapiano is booming now.... In terms of film we don't make thousands a year but ones we make are great and are winning Oscars...
I think interms of safari SA is still tops followed by Tz, serengeti is in Tz right its world famous

@@AustineAK At times you amaze me with how ignorant you are. We share very little with Arabs/North Africa and that's why even in most cases sub-saharan Africa is categorised separately from Middle East and North Africa. It will help if you read widely on economics, politics etc. The Arab league has all North African countries as part of it with Muslim majority West African countries not being a part of it. Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Algeria have very little to compare with Kenya and in fact whilst they may be a bit richer than Kenya in terms of GDP per capita they have no influence on Africa like Kenya does. How don't you know that, see the ignorance? Rugby was just added to the olympics the other day and only the Sevens version not the real rugby. By the way Kenya beat SA in 7s to qualify for olympics and SA has to go through eliminations to get to olympics. Clearly it is not yet a mainstream sport. Outside of the Southern hemisphere countries of SA, Australia, NZ and Argentina and the Northern hemisphere of England, Scotland, Wales, France and Ireland, the rest of the rugby teams are not very competitive. Of course Kenya is a powerhouse in rugby 7s. Don't even mention olympics and SA in one sentense, I can count the medals you have won in all the olympics you have participated. Everyone knows only Kenya and Ethiopia wins gold for Africa at olympics and major world championships. As for geopolitics, you are exaggerating SA's influence. Kenya has more international bodies in Africa than any other in Africa - UNEP, UN Habitat, IOM, IGAD etc and the largest US embassy in Africa and top 3 in the world! Do your homework son!

As a Ghanaian, I'll choose Nigeria, our big brother, they make the trends in every thing; sport, economy, entertainment and beautiful spirit of getting things done and making money.

You can just take some quality time to explore Africa to make your final decision. Don't just say Ghana because she's your neighbor
