  • After trying to redeem our free nights vouchers with the caravan and camping club for the last 6 months with no luck, it's time for Dan to have a rant about it. All we want is what we are entitled to but it seems this club are trying their best not to give their members what they are entitled to. 15 of us have come forward saying the same thing and we all want something done about it.

    Sick of everyone using coving as an excuse, it's not good enough, I used my vouchers ages ago I filled them in sent them off and the next time I booked with them the free night was redeemed, but if you don't know where your going to be in 2-3 weeks time that's not good, good rant well done on highlighting this problem x

    The name and address of the Director is freely available on the companies register. Call up next time your passing on a Sunday morning and they might have some cash lying around. Owner is in Yorkshire so I'm sure you'll get a special reception Dan.

    Another option is to contact your Bank and ask for a Charge Back, that would annoy them ;)

    Great blog and spoken from the heart ! I too have had problems with the CCC. They only put your review of a campsite on display if it's all good stuff. But if you say anything constructive or negative about the site , they don't print it . Joke!!!!

      That is completely corrupt and undemocratic. I have nothing to do with companies like that. eBay tried that and I forced them to print my review.

    Hi Dan & Mazzy, I've been a member of the CCC for about 4 or 5 yrs and i never received any vouchers so good on you to have gotten them, on the plus side I won't have any trouble redeeming them phfft lol

    Well done Dan. Don’t drop it. You’re not old enough but it reminds me of this. In late 1992, the UK branch of the vacuum manufacturer, Hoover, offered an impossibly sweet promotion: If a customer bought any product worth £100, he’d get two free round-trip flights to the United States. Needless to say that couldn’t honour the offer. Everyman and Everywomen bought a £100 vacuum. Company almost went bust because of it

    SORRY, HAD TO EDIT THIS TO CORRECT AN ERROR - On a similar note. I went to a CAMC site last month. We needed Calor gas and they had it. It was £30 for a 6kg bottle. I paid my money, they would only take cash. Then, politely, I asked why they charged 10% more than I normally pay for my gas. Their response, that will not surprise some, was "Because we have it and because we can"! As you can imagine I was not best pleased and told them they were taking the P1$$!! I spoke online today with the CAMC and asked if it was custom and practice to charge club members a rate set by the site managers and if taking cash was consistent across the board. Their response was to suggest that In raised the issues by sending them an email. Something just isn't right at this club. As I said to the person I was chatting with, I'm a fee paying member, who's looking after my interests!! So I suppose what I'm saying is that their doesn't seem to much difference between the two main clubs?

    Excellent rant.. I have had the same with them and I will not re-join.. The people on sites are good and understanding.. When I phoned said number they just treated me as a number and in the end they just put the phone down on me.. NEVER AGAIN

    I’ve had luck dealing with companies like this, in the US, by finding the owners or a board member’s email or phone number and calling them. We have public access to company information, with that and some on line research you might find their home phone number.

      Buy a share (if they are a listed company) and then speak out at their AGM. It works a treat.

    Brilliant vlog Dan, agree with you it’s ridiculous & beyond a joke, so many businesses inc the caravan/motorhome industry that are advertising products & quick enough to take your money then blame covid with excuses because they cannot deliver their promises.

    Agreed that's really annoying 😡 Why advertise it if the don't allow you to use it easily, it will alienate so many new customers and put people off staying at their lovely sites!
    We joined the Caravan and Motorhome Club on the back of your review and were considering joining this one too but not if that's how they treat customers - well done for making your point, if people don't do things like this it will never change!

    I’m deaf so having to use a telephone is a nightmare anyway,so I wouldn’t have even tried to resolve this situation,heads need to roll in this so called club,what a shambles! Good job you’ve highlighted this issue Dan,can’t wait for them to respond.

    The focus is very much away from transmission on surfaces now. It's a possibility but pretty remote, especially after a journey through the post.

    well done for airing this, I can see some 7,400+ people have now seen what an attempted scam this is. It sounds like they would be breaching some advertising law somewhere as their own leaflet is quite clear and they aren't honouring it. Lets hope they see sense! In other news I watched via my brand new internet box of tricks from your earlier video - more than 4 times faster than my home broadband at 150mbps. Very impressed so far.

    Re the C&CC half the time I give up trying to book as they fail to show the dates where spaces are available. You have to keep changing dates every time it says "not available ". The other club sensibly shows a calendar with all the booked and free dates for sites. I've written twice to them but they ignored me. As you say Dan, the site staff are friendly but administration department socks.

    After seeing this I’m now cancelling our membership cos we have tried to book on sites for a few months now and never been able to get on one . There mobile app then takes you to the website and then you need to do the whole process over again. It’s a joke abs a bit of a scam . If they want to be a club then look after the people who are paying to be in the club . We have also TRIED on many times to call and Nop never got trough not once . So I’m now going on line to cancel . Cos it’s a pointless club and Iv paid cos something that I’m not getting and there will be many many more . So shame on you ccc

    Joke of a club used to have a motorhome and was never impressed being a member tbh. Plus they call themselves “Camping” and caravanning yet 90% of there sires don’t take tents. Which is the definition of camping.

    Spot on Dan and there will be so many with you on this and I'm one. Should it be that the numbskulls in charge do not take heed this could seriously hurt the club and to use Covid as an excuse now is absolutely ridiculous. Their phone system is also a joke and I have given up many a time when trying to contact them, it may well be I will forget renewing my membership. Keep the pressure on them Dan hopefully then a light will go on in someone's head and they will see the error of their ways. 💖👌👍

    The club promised me a free night voucher after a mess up of their making. Still waiting for the voucher emailed and rang them no joy. So have not renewed my membership.

    Very close to cancelling my membership as I have stopped booking sites with them as over covid they did not pass the vat discount to members. CAMH did.

    Incredibly annoying how companies seem to do these things all the time. They give you vouchers and other such things as an incentive and when it comes to actually using them you find out they can only be redeemed on a full moon on the third Tuesday of every month at 4:27am and you have to call them in a French accent while wearing cooking pot over your head. There really needs to be regulations brought in in regards to how easy it should be to redeem things like this and when people can't redeem them the punishment should be the same as if you sold something to someone and then didn't give it to them.

    I had this issue with mine and on my T&Cs it said that we could hand it in to the wardens. I complained and insisted on talking to someone higher up. They said that they were allowed to alter the T&Cs when ever they liked! Of course they can't. Stuck to my guns and insisted on handing it in to the wardens as we were on holiday and going there soon. The wardens were a bit perplexed but took it. It took a further phone call to chase up the refund though, as the wardens had never sent it back! I had the same conversation with them that you did, basically they have a unique code that they could use. What a waste of money sending them in. I also insisted that they send out a prepaid returns envelope for the next booking! Just to annoy them!

    I'd love just to be given a membership number, I had standard RAC Breakdown cover but with having the caravan I decided to go with RAC ARRIVAL with their offer of free membership to the Camping and Caravan Club a month I've waited and several phone calls later I'm no further forward

    Hi Dan, only just seen this video. I called them to find out the cost of a pitch with electric hookup, only to be told a grass pitch is £6 and a hard pitch is £8 so I said it should cost the same but she couldn't Tell me why so I said I'll be getting a landscaping company in to my home to pull up my paving and patio and reinstall the lawn so I can get cheaper electricity, I then hung up 😂.     More the fool me for thinking that everyone would work together during Covid to help the public/ consumer get back to as normal as position for both sides, but no, they have just hiked up prices in too many sectors.
    RIP Courtesy, Kindness and helping the fellow person…more so during an unfortunate period.

    This is a disgrace I have tried booking with caravan and motor home club wasnt very impressed with their prices to be honest they charge extra for kids and seemed very over priced with prices I was seing our motor home goes on and off grid so gonna try some cheaper options and will be leaving next year new to motor homing few groups I have joined was raving about their club but so far I ain’t impressed can’t believe they using covid as an excuse what a shambles thanks for sharing👍🏽👍🏽

    joined years ago and just got home today from Dorset and Devon Stayed at three of there sites and very nice indeed.
    We live on the isle of wight so book ferries through the site at knock down prices it cost £62 yes £62 return in a motorhome but if we wasn't in the club that would have been over £190
    i do get were you are coming from though its flipping annoying when people don't pick up the phone.

    Appalling service. I thought with COVID they would have Moore staff working from home , thus you being able to use your voucher over the phone . Will not be joining until they sort out there staff issues. Friends highly recommend cccs . Hope you get a prompt reply from the boss ?

    *How ridiculous.* In this day and age, why would an organisation insist that you send their staff a piece of card that could be infected with disease. The Sales & Marketing department are CLEARY not joined up in their thinking with the Health & Safety department. If there is a unique identifier code, and if the offer is not a scam, why would the organisation not provide a place on their booking website for the code to be inserted? Surely providing excellent customer service is a key performance measure for them? There is no justifiable reason I am sure that it is actually necessary for someone to attempt phone calls to redeem these vouchers. If there are not internal Zoom meetings taking place within the organisation right now to resolve this problem for members, then I would be very very surprised. Good luck to everyone concerned.

    Know how you feel Dan. I had a £10 voucher if I renewed in April, which I did. They sent the voucher and it had a code. Couldn't redeem it online with the code, or over the phone. I have been out and about like you and it got so annoying. Finally did get £10 credit to my account 3 months later after sending it in. Its just nonsensical

    fine fine rant. I had travel insurance & tried to make a claim, took months & 15 forms to fill or have filled at my cost. They make it so hard that you will give up

      Not really. They are not rare either. Theres 1000s off them in every motorhome and caravan around the UK laying there doing nothing.

    My company Bodee Limited produces antimicrobial printing so there would be no worry of COVID being passed on when handling any printed item. We have tried to speak to the club but can’t get through!!

    Hi dan ,covid is the excuse for everything ,like you I hate being ripped off grrrrr, you have made my mind up now ,I will not be joining the camping and caravan club ,take them to trading standards it's disgusting, keep up your brilliant work ,have a John smiths .x

    dan we went to a camping and caravan club site in aug this year when we arrived we had to stay in the car fine no problem then we saw the sigh no visitors i ask the warden we had friends that wanted to see are caravan set up no sorry was the reply not allowed because of covid so i told my friends thay said i well if its covid thay have both been jabbed then the following day i saw another warden said can you tell me we have a couple of friends can thay stay in our caravan tonight so if thay have a drink with us thay can drive home the following morning no problem he said just go to reception pay 25 pound and no worry thay can stay for the night (remember the sigh comming on to site no visitors ) double standers or rip off or if you pay you must no have covid

    Went to Barnard Castle Caravan & Camping club site last year. There septic tank was full and sent me to another site to empty my toilet cassette. I rang to complain and wrote a review about my experience and guess what??? They never posted my review!!!!!!!

      I am seriously thinking about cancelling my subscription after over 10 years? The caravan club have been discounting the site fees all through covid but the caravan and camping haven't? In one case in hayfield we were paying full price for basically hook up and no toilets over £30 per night?

    Tried to email them about your issue. Went to there contact page to send email . Filled in the details about your free stay offer. Put in my personal details then in green it says next which I did thinking the email had gone . But it then took me to another page asking to fill in what I already had done . The heading above says for storage. So no idea if it has gone to them . Sorry tried to help . Good luck to you both . 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    I’ve spent the last 2 months trying to re join via phone as can’t do it via the website as I can’t use my details as they’re already taken…… shortest I’ve been on the phone was 30 mins and have never been better than 8th in the queue 🤬

    Each voucher has its own code, why can’t the site put it in their PC system where then it can just be credited back to your account. It really can be that simple.

    i am going to look into this because i think this has happend to us with camping and caravan club sites. oh dear are this company failing English holidaying we wont book any more till truth be told
