My Scottish contact tells me about speed limits for HGVs in Scotland - "Still 40mph in Scotland but there is a trial part of A9 at 50mph for vehicles over 7.5 t." Thanks Bob M.

The information booth's in the UK is just awesome! That is really something that is missing here... Such as on my previous hot springs trip, the people couldn't even tell the mineral content of the mineral hot springs. Good to see Bob and Aileen and the dogs as well! Awesome time-laps at the end!

The A9 has had the limit for HGV increased to 50 (temporary while they try to ensure that the Avg Speed Cam's make an impact so they can justify keeping them #cynic)

Better route would have been to go onto M74 and come off at I think exit 12. Head for Cumnock, on to A70 the same roundabout you came onto.

Yes, that's correct, except when we are towing and limited to 60 on motorways. I was talking about the 40mph limit for HGV trucks in Scotland on A Class single carriageway.
Motor caravans (motorhomes or campervans) with an unladen weight of greater than 3050kg or more than 8 passenger seats:
Single Carriageways: 50mph. Dual Carriageways: 60mph.
Motorways: 70mph.
...
Motorhome Speed Limits under 3050kg unladen:
Single Carriageways: 60mph.
Dual Carriageways: 70mph.
Motorways: 70mph.

Hi Bob is the castle near the camp site? Was thinking of either walking or public transport.
It's a fair walk to the Castle, maybe a mile and half, more to the Swan Pond where the Dog Jamboree is.
I may be corrected but, i believe the law has changed now, and HGV’s are now allowed to travel at 50 mph on A roads. You are getting a lot of miles in; happy travels.
You may be right, but the signs all said HGV 40mph. Like France, they probably haven't changed the signs.
Certain roads in Scotland still limited to 40 including a75.

Yes, and if you stick to 50mph you get hassled by the HGVs, set to 56mph....
