- We get ready and leave home destined for Cannock Chase Camping and Caravanning Club Site. This is the first stop on our Jubilee Tour of 2022.
Site Fees: £55 for two nights with electric hook-up. Free wi-fi.
Note: O2 and Vodafone phone signal poor to zero and very weak data signal.

Thanks for watching our videos. We include all things to do with motorhomes, campervans, van conversions, caravans and the great outdoors. We mainly tour the UK and camp around 80 nights per year in our 2021 IH Motorhomes N-680 CRL luxury VW Crafter van conversion. We offer advice, tips and tricks, review campsites and associated products or services. We also occasionally make videos about other trips we take without the motorhome.

We could never get Poppy to stay on a cooling mat. Cannock Chase looks lovely - to quote Sue.
Cannock Chase really is lovely 😊 Poppy would love it there. Good walks and facilities on site are excellent. We visited Shugborough too which is just a short drive. 😀🚐 Trev

It’s a lovely site. Phone signal is poor as you would expect in the middle of a forest but facilities are very good and was £27.50 per night 😃 Trev
We use those cool mats in the summer. We lay them on our pillows in bed to keep our necks cool.

As an oldie that has done much videoing form the air and ground I love the way you video. No camera swings from side to side, not afraid to leave the cam in one pssition for a while and rock steady cam. like the way you also tell us what speed your replays are at. A most interesting video.I have subsribed. Keep up the good work

We also put our gel pads in the fridge for extra cooling.

Looks like it's had a bit of a revamp. We only live about 5 minutes from here . There's lots of deer in the area . If you stand by the gate you should get a phone signal if you need it . Have a lovely time. Bit cooler today 😊☀️
We really would have liked another couple of days at Cannock Chase, really enjoyed the site and yes the facilities are very modern and like new. Definitely a site to recommend if you want some peace and quiet 😃👍🏻 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping we've only used it when we had new windows in as the caravan was in the way! I say we but hubby enjoyed his break lol I stayed at home 😊

I habe bought the gel mat for my dog in 2018 here in BRAZIL bzk its too hot for her. She is an AMERICAN dog & the weather of TROPICAL is "crucial" for her. Anyway... she loves it. when the dog isnt using it you keep inside of the fridge & while in use it has to be inside of the fridge every 4 to 5hs. & not put under the sun.
We are using the gel mats for the first time and they seem to be keeping the dogs cool. They like to have a towel on them as it’s softer but I have seen Oscar sitting on the mat without a cover too so he must like the cool feeling 😃 We will try putting it in the fridge. We have kept them under the bunks where is is cold too. Thanks for your comments, we really appreciate them 😃 Trev n Sue

I’ll be curious to know how the dog cooling mats and the cooling system works out for you. Oh I love those buntings!!! Huge VW fan here. Those are too cute!! Looks like a lovely campground. I’m pretty sure I could be happy spending a couple days there 😁.
The cooling mats seem to work but the dogs are still getting used to the different feeling in their beds 😀 Thank you, we were pleased with the bunting as it’s all hand made with two layers of material so it has a little weight to it. This site was a big hit for us, we loved it 😀 Trev

I have just just found out about the cool coats. They sound interesting. The cool mats seem to work but we thing we need to put them outside at night to cool them down for the hottest part of the day 😃 Trev

Will definitely be interested in hearing how well the cooling mats work. We are in the introduction process with a husky and don't have AC, so while I've got trees that have been planted, it gets hot because we don't have a ton of shade yet.

That’s right Trev, you don’t argue with a woman when it comes to her hair😁 I’ve come to the conclusion that either all the campground over there are beautiful or you only go to the posh ones😂

Hi Trev and Sue! I think I like that shower head better too :) The pet cooling mats are a great idea and hope the cooling system works for you. I love the bunting. We got away later than expected but the 4 hour journey wasn’t too bad apart from the heavy showers. We loved this site in the forest, it’s just what we enjoy in a natural environment out in the countryside. Thanks Debbie 😃 Trev

We have heard they work well so we got two medium sized ones. They seem quite heavy but are currently being tested by two warm border terriers 😃 Trev

We liked this one as it’s natural and in the forest. The facilities are very good too. No phone signal or 4G data for internet but free wifi available to check email etc. So we felt it was good value at £27.50 per night. 😃 Trev

We enjoyed this site too - only 45 mins from where we live. Some great walks across Cannock Chase - as you say, in some parts its dense forest.
We really enjoyed this site. It’s the kind of site we like in a natural setting within the forest. Shame we only had 2 nights as we quite fancied exploring a bit more of the area 🙂👍🏻 Trev

Looks a nice site, looking at your map your at Donkey Creek is that for Tourfest Northwest, we weren't going but our plans changed, watched caravan Addys getting new caravan & it reminded me of the meet up checked web site last weekend & managed to get a pitch, Karen working Friday so Saturday 4th we will be there for 4 nights, hopefully catch up for a chat with you there 👍

Yes, we like that shower head 😀 Cannock Chase is very nice and as you saw, it’s within the forest which means lots of birdsong and trails to walk with the dogs. We could easily have spent a week here. 😀 Trev

Hi Sue and Trev. I noticed the secure barriers require a code for entry....but as you can just walk around te barriers that is not stopping anybody just walking round them if they have bad intensions...like breaking into buildings or car or vans.
Yes Roger that’s true of most sites. What troubles me more is that the ladies showers and toilets don’t need any code or key to get in, so after dark it can be a risk too. 🙂 Trev
Campsite looks nice with lovely dog walks directly from the site 👍 Hamish has had a cool mat for some years, but prefers to bake in the sun🙄 Be interesting to see your thoughts on the cooling system Trev, as I haven’t opted for habitation AirCon on the IH van. Happy travels - off down to Norfolk for Jubilee, will give you a wave if I see you both on the road 🤣🚐x
Hi Debs, We wanted air con in the van but opted for solar instead to top up battery. We like going off grid but not street camping. The cooling system is small in a big cardboard box so the box has gone immediately 🤣 It’s certainly not a chiller but using the physics of evaporation it does feel cooler in the van and blows onto us at night which is nice. @@PoshcatsCamping I’m with you on the off grid camping, which is why I’ve not con for the aircon - just one of those omnister (?) roof fans in the van above the kitchen. I think I’ll have a look at that cooling box though. Thanks x
@@debshamish6533 we just got back from 3 hours shopping and left the dogs with the cooler on level 2 and both skylights open a little. All blinds closed and silver screen in place. Full sun today and the van was noticeably cooler on our return. Early days but positive so far 👍🏻😃
