#Dealership #Markups #Inventory
You guys don't get it. MSRPs are almost twice what the average consumer can afford. A five percent discount off of already inflated pricing isn't going to get it.
The problem is that manufacturers have jacked up MSRPs so much that rebates and discounts are almost meaningless.
Inventory totals could have been solved if dealers didn’t get greedy. But they did, now nobody can or wants to pay high prices and high interest rates. That’s if they can afford them. Most of those high inventory vehicle brands have some of the worst reliability ratings. JMHO
They might be under MSRP but then add back the MSRP with 5k in dealer fees
If you can't find a good deal local the best thing is to work a deal over the phone out of state, buy a plane ticket and drive it back. I did this for two out of the 3 vehicles in our garage.
I live in Florida where all the shady dealer antics originated. Buying here is a nightmare. It's just much easier to go out of state to an honest dealer.
With lexus not raising prices like crazy and staying a reliable car will make it top of the luxury car choices that are actually worth the price.. I want a lexus.
I would buy one if they brought the LBX to the USA, but not interested in anything that they currently offer here.
@@dystopia-usa idk the new 550 looks great I think. I love it
Sponsored by your local Lexus dealer.
@@dystopia-usa That is a glorified Yaris. Just get a UX.
@@aaron___6014 Can't stand the UX styling toward the rear, & it looks like an over-styled station wagon instead of a crossover. I owned a 2015 Yaris SE hatch 5-MT for 4 years & it was a great little car until some distracted driver killed it.
So many people wasting their money on cars. I get it, I love cars, but just get an older car and invest your money. Buying a new car is pretty much the fastest way to lose money that there is, short of throwing it out the window. Fools taking out 6-7yr loans at 10%+, just to impress people and show off, when they are really broke.
True, however, if no one buy new we will not have used or used will be very expensive too. Catch 22
@@ahmadghosheh3104 I have no issues with someone buying a new car. It's the people who have to stretch to make car payments, who have little saved, that need to stay away. Between the depreciation and interest, that should suck all your money from you lol. If you are financially sound and can pay cash, go for it.
Iv noticed a lot of dealers that are at or above MSRP are the dealers that claim to be " Non Negotiating" Dealerships. They say " This is our upfront no negotiating price" . I just say ok and move on. At the end of the day a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it . Times are tough right now with interest rates and how your dollar just doesn't go as far as it did before the covid. If automakers would look at the MSRP pre covid and use that as a baseline I think people would have a different perspective.
Look at the dealers with the highest inventory. No surprise that it's Stellantis and Lincoln, two of the most unreliable manufacturers. Why would anybody buy a Lincoln when they build the water pump into the engine, requiring $4,000 job?
Jeep Compass Limited $40k?! 😂
It’s not even worth $30K
Agreed and it’ll be worth less the $20k in less than 2 years! They have the worst resale value!
A 15k 4runner with 200k miles would probably last longer.
@@BrianNC81 true
Perception of reliability. Toyota- reliable - Fiat, Jaguar etc. bad customer opinions. People want a car they don't think's going to break down on them.
You are precisely correct about going to different dealers. To further that point, I've been watching pricing within a 500km radius of my home. Been waiting 2 years to purchase a truck. I found it funny how identical models had different prices. Why 500km radius? Those dealers are typically $3,000 lower. Well worth the drive.
i look for alot of dealers to be gone in 6 to 9 months.interest rates arent going down anytime soon.& dealers will be consumed with interest on overfilled lots they cannot move.& you dont need to build vehicles that nobody buys.& so the domino's begin there fall.
Largest inventory = all junk cars.
Exactly, not sure who would buy one of those brands over a much more reliable brand, for the same price.
That’s the dilemma. Need to pay up for quality
@@rickyaz8640 Not really, Toyota and Honda are priced similar.
dealerships will always rip you off if you let them
Hey Aubrey, I would like to sign up Early for the first annual national car share expo convention in Tampa FL 2025. Just whenever you get that put together. It's going to be great to get together with Turo, Uber and other platforms as well as insurance companies, fleet car dealerships and finance companies. I'm sure that the breakout seminars from people such as yourself and others sharing the same information as on TH-cam will be fun. Maybe you'll sell me on the master class program after your seminar.
Hopefully, reserving a spot now will save me money, since you haven't put it together yet.
i heard a radio ad in Htown the other day advertising 18k off msrp and zero due at signing. Made me happy. And sad too though because that means some folks are having a hard go of it, financially, which trickles up and up and up to the dealerships after a while. But me I am a saver and cash car buyer anyway.
Oh, could one of the seminars be on co hosting?
I'm shocked Fiat still exists
If you are concerned about resale value buy a Toyota sedan but negotiate. We paid $19k for a Corolla SE in 2021 and new ones with more mileage are selling for more than what we paid for ours brand new.
Out of three local Toyota dealerships in my area, only one is charging market adjustment fees. Guess which one that I am not buying from.
The biggest brand new Tundra discount I have seen so far this year is $12k off MSRP, the most amount of discount of new Toyota right now is the BZ4X, at $17k off. That's about it, plenty of other Toyotas still have markup
What city are you seeing those tundra discounts? Haven't seen those levels in my area
Most Toyota models are sold before they even hit the lot. No need to discount a vehicle sold in transit
Pricing is all over. I bought a new 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid last week that was advertised WAY below invoice. So I got a steal, out the door under invoice. But I don't think it had been on the lot for a super long time.
It’s a ‘23… it’s probably been there a while. Inside the driver’s door on the jamb, there is a white label with a bunch of data. In the corner, there is the date of manufacture printed.
@@DS-wo8wr Manufactured in Nov 2023, so, at most around 5 months (give it a month to get from Korea to Ohio). Which IS a long time but not sure its "get out the door for 1k under invoice" which is what happened.
@@nrudy The Sonata is built in Alabama. However, as of late, some are from Korea.
If your VIN begins with a K, the car was built in Korea. cIf it begins with 5, it was built in Alabama.
@@nrudy It’s a ‘23… and we’re 3/4 through the ‘24 model year… there was a manufacturer rebate applied at the dealer level to move that “leftover” unit.
@@DS-wo8wr I mean, you're flat wrong -"The Sonata is currently manufactured in South Korea, China and Pakistan" but it also just tells you where and the month of assembly without having to try to decipher the VIN number.
Why do people think that MSRP is brought down the mountain by Moses? Maybe it's a fantastic number auto manufacturers make up basing it on what they think the market will bear ! I just don't believe that it costs over $30,000. to make a SUB compact SUV ❗
Buy an end of model year in the fall or even into the following January. I got 12% off MSRP on a 2023 SQ5 in November. The car had some stuff on it that I would not have wanted to pay for, but it seems Audi does that with every car. The only thing was I could not pick the color. I would not buy a black or white car (for some reason these are always the bulk of color choices). I got the “Ultra Blue” about which I have gotten several compliments. It is a metallic bright blue and a shade that I have come to like actually. I will never buy at MSRP ever again; the only time was 2022 buying a 2023 Lexus NX 350. Crappy car to drive, sorry.
If your a cash buyer, you should pay no more than $500 over invoice if you really want
the car. I'm tying for under invoice. I pay $30,000 cash, I cover the dealer light bill for
a month, and the dealership sold a unit.
And hopefully get your service business.
@@DBRising no chance, I got 2 reasonable, trust worthy mechanics.
most lexus cars are ugly except gx because toyota finally realized that big ugly grill is a no no and decided to go back to classic elegant design with the new gx.
U paying to much for a new car today . 7 year loans month payments to high .
If you need a 7yr loan, you can't afford to buy a car. Time to buy an old Toyota corolla.
been to Toyota and honda recently. there are 3-5k markups on their cars
I want a tundra but I’m looking at ridgelines, these prices are just too much. I either need a hefty raise, not happening, or I need prices to become sane, also happening way slower than it needs too!
Lexus is an interesting case. In CT they're advertising discounts below msrp, but lotta room to negotiate especially out of state. Got a fully loaded 2024 rx500h at herb chambers in Sharon mass for 8500 off MSRP of 74k
74K for a car, that just blows my mind. I drive a 2005 Lexus RX330 and put my money in a CD at 6%. Done throwing my money away, to impress people.
Anyone buying a new car or truck is crazy. And poor. People let dealers be greedy.
So which dealerships do you recommend?
one that doesn't do markups😅
some Toyota dealers want $10,000 over on new tacoma and I $15,000 over on land cruiser's
A fool and their money are soon parted
That’s reflected in used Land Cruiser pricing which is unbelievable.
All the junk Auto makers have the biggest inventory, hmm wonder why. Cars are too expensive now, to buy a car that is gonna break down at 100K miles or less. Maybe they will learn that people want reliability.
News alert: Aubry discovers we're not in a free market and of course it's irrational. Hey Aubry, make a video on literally any market and you'll discover the same thing. Welcome to late stage capitalism.
Any new car should be $30,000 off msrp making it regular price.
Toyota Honda and Nissan dialed back production.
Toyota and Lexus are making a strong statement with their pricing strategy.
Hybrid version = low inventory
"Jagwire"
Girl, you gotta pronounce it right.
Hard to listen/believe too someone that voted for Beto.
Any suggestions on the best Toyota dealership to work with in WA State? Most of these dealers are being way too greedy 🫤
So this channel is just copying lucky Lopez?

I came to the comments to see if anyone else felt like I did after watching this. I hate how videos like this are edited. Not once did I hear her inhale. Pauses and breaths and "saying "uhmm" are perfectly ok, they are normal parts of speech that when edited out make the viewer feel exhausted just trying to keep up.
@@TexFarmer that’s totally great for you because that’s your personal opinion. We all have the right to have our own opinion on anything in this entire world.
