*WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT* A Fight Between Two Lion Prides Leads to Cubs Dying

  • The way of the wild may often seem cruel and confusing to us as humans. During yesterday's Sunset Safari the Oloololo Pride and River Pride came to blows over who had the rights to a hippo carcass. Sadly, two of the youngest Oloololo cubs lost their lives in the chaos and confusion, the third cub is still missing. A sad sight indeed.

      Triplee, what you are talking about is pure biology. A lioness will not go into estrus (heat) for up to 2 years after the birth of their cubs. A human female can get pregnant within a month of having a child. Bobby I agree. The only reason they seem to get over it so quickly is because her biology will force her back into estrus within a month of losing her cubs.

    What is the thought for why this happens... Is it usually in a siruation between 2 prides to draw attention away? To perhaps leave the dead young and draw them away from the animal they were trying to feed off of?...or is it a show of strength to perhaps intimidate other pride..? So hard to understand.. And sad. But it is the mystery of nature. Just wondering.

    At the outset, I'm American, and I fully support the "tourist" trade in Africa, and I'm totally against the shooting of these majestic animals to hang their heads on their wall like the "hunters" go out and track them, when the truth is, the "guides" often use illegal methods (research the death of Cecil), then call their "client" who's back at their luxury hotel, he/she then comes and shoots the lion, the guides take photos, then skin them and cut off their heads. Loss of habitat is affecting all of the animals, and I'm again grateful that the facilities offer the opportunity to shoot the wildlife in their reserves -- with cameras, not guns. I'm really glad this channel posted this video. Not because of the incredibly heart-breaking result, but it's exactly as the ranger said: It's nature. It's the perfect video to demonstrate against the domestication of these wild species, and the horrendous torture we "humans" who claim God gave us dominion over all the earth and her creatures -- I believe in God, and at the time I'm sure God thought we would care for his precious animals, and instead, we torture them in cub petting, and then when they're too big, off they go to the highest bidder for canned hunting, or their remains sold to individuals who believe if they drink wine from the bones of these cats, it transfers their strength to you. I live in the US, and I've tried since October 2020 to get even one federal official to intervene (and arrest) this facility here which has photo ops and petting of cubbies -- with zero response. And what I've discovered in my efforts is massive, massive abuse and illegal activities, and not one person will help. I'm an absolute nobody now in this stage of my life, but I used to know a few people. I was successful in getting them to add "cub handling" to a bill which has been promoted to make it appear our lawmakers -- which WE elect to represent us -- care -- BS -- the bill will never reach the floor of the house, much less go to a vote in the senate, but they can say: their are other more pressing issues at play here. It makes me so angry my blood pressure goes up. About the video, if you look at the beginning shot, while the pride is in the water, the cubs did exactly as they were taught, they went into hiding up against the tree in the bush there, and you can see two lions, one a female, slink up the bank and take the cubs -- when the mother realizes what has happened, watch her -- her ears are pinned back and she goes in for the kill shot, too late for her babies. But this is nature, and nature's way, no matter how heart breaking. It's better these cubs lived three months being nurtured and loved by first their mothers, and then their pride, than spend one minute in a cub petting facility. We must not only do better, we MUST be better. Peace to all, contact your representatives in government and demand they get off their asses and do their job and ensure captive animals are treated well and ethically. Patricia

      The problem is that there's sooo much else wrong with the world, including fellow humans dying from war and starvation or people losing their jobs to care about wildlife.

    • @3rscrafting
      @3rscrafting 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ThePaganSun respectfully, there is more than enough to go around. The wealth of the world, residing in the hands of the few, can assuage both issues. I understand that in OCTOBER Israel was attacked by cowards who did the awful part, then skipped town back to the safety of Syria. Any fool knows Israel is going to answer. But, on the one hand they, rightfully so, carry the scars of the holocaust, which I can't understand why they won't allow aid trucks to come to.northern Gaza, where the people are starving, eating grass, living in the rubble that was once their homes, people who were peacefully co-residing until that awful day. It's drilled into our minds as young children it has to be either or, when in reality, it can be both. There is a video somewhere on youtube about a father, while he was at his THIRD job at Walmart, his children came to visit him ... they were in the parking lot where he was gathering carts, it was his birthday, his wife died while their children were young, and he was determined to put his kids through college. He sold his car, rides the bus to work all three jobs. The kids cleared it with his supervisor, they bought him a car, a nice car, which they paid for from their signing bonuses at their new jobs. There is always a way. Kind regards, Patricia

      @3rscrafting @3rscrafting Uhhh I didn't really mean specifically the Israeli-Hamas War because quite frankly Israel has been behaving an aggressor for years now and has killed even non-Hamas affiliated Palestinians so they've sadly reaped what they've sowed but that's a topic for another time and I don't really want to talk about it here on a video about lions. I'm neutral and that specific discussion is a hot button issue.. But I was talking about wars in general. 😅
      But yes, there should be enough to go around but except for extreme animal lovers, most people are mostly going to follow and support the issues that most concern them specifically 😔

    Not sure why nature has hardwired lions like this. They are prone to death at an early age and always would die a horrible death at the end irrespective. The lioness life is much more pathetic. They care for their young ones, hunt for the pride, bear a loss of cubs in a fight, prone to take over by other pride, and subsequently, their cubs killed by male lions of the winning pride, forced to breed with a new leader or face death. They die a horrible death anyway when they lose the ability to hunt in old age or being disabled by accident.

      2 different pride with the same dominant males, and lioness won't tolerate any cubs/sub adults on different pride as they see it as competition for food.
      And it was just unfortunate that the cubs was happen to be there(probably that they were there already before the bigger pride smell the hippo and went were the cubs was). If it wasn't for the cubs the mother lioness would flee and not engage into the fight.

Could it be that she was left alone exposed because she had to try and fight for her cubs while her pride took off? Coz at 0:48 its like the other gang was together in the relentless attack on her.

    I'm confused, oolooloo cubs dead, is the lioness eating the cub from the Marsh pride?

    • @jeffkeith637
      @jeffkeith637 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Later info suggests it was the River pride that came to the scene. Yes, a River lioness with the body of the cub. Not sure she was eating it though, possibly eradicating it's scent, or reacting to the smell of blood and internal organs. Certainly making sure it's dead.

      Some of this occured during the school drive, so they obviously wouldn't want to upset 5/ 6 yr old kids. Pat explained after the School Drive ended.
      This will have been an important day for Pat as well.He naturally found it very difficult to view, he was of course emotional. As James Hendry has said, these type of viewings are always difficult, but with experience comes more acceptance and understanding of Nature in its most raw form.

    • @jxbail
      @jxbail 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrRobmacd90 all plausible but in the video you can hear the Lions making noises and fighting and that's what he describes from his point of view in from his cameraman's point of view I do not think it was a school video though I could be wrong just disappointed because coming to this everyday the last year couple of times a day to find out it isn't what I thought it was that you are editing your Safaris is disheartening and not what I came here for

    • @MrRobmacd90
      @MrRobmacd90 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jxbail If you re-watch the full broadcast you will see that it began with Pat with these Lions. He also made a point of saying, after the School Drive, that he couldn't go into detail about what had happened. Safari Live have to make live editorial decisions refelecting what is suitable to be broadcast to young children. Other than that, SL don't edit anything, hence the warning at the beginning of each broadcast. Kind regards✋

  • @dre22

    There’s a misconception that only males kill cubs when they takeover prides but clearly the females do too when there’s a clash with other prides. Sadly the pride who lost their cubs here didn’t seem to have their male prides with them.
