Billy, what about the 라고/하고 하다 quotation?
like : "우리 집에 올래요?"라고 물었다 or 한국사람 먹기 전에 "잘 먹겠습니다"라고 했어요
왕징 씨는 저에게 "내일 몇 시에 와요?"하고 물어봤어요
or the example from your old quotation live : 사랑한다고 말해 주세요 = please say "i love you"
i asked someone on a DreamCatcher video : what if the person said "what did you say?" how would you say = i said please say "i love you", and the person reply with : you would say "사랑한다고 말해 주세요"라고 (말)했어요
i saw that this is called "direct quotation" and the one that have like : 다고,자고,냐고 etc, are called "indirect quotation"
in a video (which i dont remember what was) they explained like : the 다고/냐고 etc forms are like saying : "i said that" in english, for example : i said that i like cats, or i said that my friend is going to the store or did you say that you went to korean last night? but this does not work for the 자고 and (으)라고 so.. yeah
and the 라고/하고 direct quotations are like using the quotation mark, or like saying : i said "i like cats", i asked "where is the coffee" etc
